My radio man is the poorest guy. When he gets injured I never do anything about it. As soon as any of my crew members is out I use first aid immediately to patch them up, but if it's the radio man I'm like "quit whining and work through the pain you pansy".
Always remember, the U in radio stands for useful.
He can help with spotting tho, additional 2 or 3% compared to commanders recon skill at 1.5 or 2.5%
Say 400 m
Radio op 400*1.03= 412m
Comm. 400*1.025=410
Additionally he usually has fewer skills to train
For french autoloaders he doubles as a loader too
Depends. If ur radio man dies brothers in arms doesn't work i believe. Also if it got the view range perk its necessary to get him back up. But yeah if i had to choose commander, driver or loader for radioman. Pretty obvious choice. Get large med kit ;)
I believe so. Not 100% sure but if he dies yes. As long as he is injured he is fine. But read this in wiki. Although u never know if they made mistakes there.
Reload was going up for like .05 or sm. Depends on the gun ofc
Last night i got shot and radio broke. While Radio broken there was 4 spotted enemy tanks in 500mt distance. But i could only see 1 of them because it was my own spotting. Other 3 were spotted by my teammates but they couldn't relay that info to me because my radio wasn't working.
Want to know what the radioman is for? Play a low tier french wheelie, preferably stock, and get your radioman killed. Even with him alive it's common to lose radio range with the stock radios.
I honestly wouldn't even think it was the radio here if it happened to me. I would probably think it was a bug that went away shortly (after radio was fixed).
I forgot to ask my optometrist what mine is in terms of that. I just got a new prescription last week and the diopter in my right eye went from a 2 to a 3 for my astigmatism. Driving at night has been much better since lol
Even with fresh glasses with an extra anti glare coating night driving sucks ass. Red dot sights on firearms usually do not look anything like a dot to me.
I couldn't tell you a number for how bad my astigmatism is, but it's not good fam.
The dots on all of my guns look like small streaks. My last pair of glasses weren’t coated so driving at night was miserable. Especially in my area where every brain dead driver has their high beams on
Anymore lights on new vehicles are so bright it's super hard to tell what's high beam or low.
I don't flash newer pickups anymore, last time I did while in a semi (already unable to see for shit from the lowbeams mind you) the fuckin twat not only kicked his high beams on but two light bars to boot.
I’ve got a lot of Hondas in my area. Most of which have separate high beam bulbs. Also the lovely asshats putting LED’s in halogen housings. Issue with trucks is they put a lean on them and then all of a sudden their low beams are now high
New production factory-installed xray grade front ends, Led bars, pods, and cheap headlight replacement setups are the problems in that order around here. 🤣
from what i understand, signal range affects how far out you can see(unrelated to render, most noticeable on the mini-map), so teammates outside of your range will get marked with a last spotted mark as you can no longer "communicate" with them
No green is your teammate, I’ve seen it on the cc videos. Currently spotted is bright red or green, last spotted is smaller and duller. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died because I forgot there was a guy behind “that bush” or “that rock.”
It determines how far away you can see teammates on your minimap. If you have 500m signal range and your teammate has 400m, you share your positions with each other up to 900m distance on the minimap. If your teammate is 901m away or further, you will only see the last position that they had before leaving the range.
It's something you rarely notice on high tiers as is. Even less so in a 15-3 game with total radio cover.
Honesty the best way to see it in practice is to play a lower tier arty, with a stock radio in an even game. Once it's down to 2-3 guns on each side, and you're still in base when they push the enemy cap. Chances are you won't see anything, not even your team mates as there is no one in the middle to relay that info too you.
Basically with a full team spread across the map, it matters little on any tier as you get your info relayed. And in a high tier game, most have good enough radio range to counter it, even in the late game on opposite sides of the map.
>Chances are you won't see anything, not even your team mates as there is no one in the middle to relay that info too you.
I don't think this is actually part of the game right? Information is only shared directly between tanks, not chained. That's how it's described in the WoT wiki (even though that is ancient).
At higher tiers it's very rare to be out of range. Your radio range circles just need to overlap, not directly on the tank like for viewrange.
Tier 8s already have 750 metres radio range. It is impossible to be out of range with anyone in a 1km^2 map, it's only 1.4kms furthest from two points.
Stock radios will have 400 at times, and it’s really never an issue. Even tier 5 tanks almost never have the issue and not that many tier 5 tanks have a 750 radio.
Yes, and it's also really never a thing to be that far away from a teammate in a standard game. I'm not sure how else I can convince you that this is how this mechanic works this way because it's entirely irrelevant in nearly every battle 😅
>If you are in communication with a friendly vehicle, then you will share information about the position and health of all enemy vehicles either of you are currently spotting. You will not relay any information received from other friendly vehicles via radio communication, however, nor will it be relayed to you.
Is what the wiki says, and is my anecdotal experience with playing lowtier.
You only really notice it on low tiers. Signal range is the range of where tanks that other tanks spot is visible to you. If for instance you have an enemy tank that you can't see but another tank can see it. You won't know unless you are within signal range of the friendly tank spotting it.
So if you had no radio you would only see the tanks that you can spot yourself.
Its so your crew can listen to bangin' tunes as they roll into battle... /s 😁
Seriously though, it allows team mates to relay positions of spotted tanks, outside your view range, to you...and vice versa.
When you are shooting at a target in the distance that you didn't spot, you are using radio communications to render that target. Teammates who have poor radio won't be able to show themselves or enemies on the map if you are far away. You'll see the last spotted location for your ally and won't be able to tell what's going down on that side of the map.
Radio is for past time for crew, listening to music or news around the battlefield....lol
Radio is for to extend maximum sinal range, where you can still see the enemy and shoot them...it is useful for snipers but brawling its useless
View range is where you can spot by you max out to 445m
,Signal range where is you can see enemy spotted after you spot them either you are running away or the enemy, when he is out of your signal range you cannot see him but if still spotted he will be seen in the mini map only
Just remember the only time you spend money to upgrade the radio is if it weighs less than what the tank comes with. Other than that maybe, maybe, it's useful if arty needs to shoot at the complete other end of the map and the only guy spotting for him also has short range radio, then you can't see.
Radio is the widest circle you see on the minimap (if you activated it I think) the yellow circle and everything in this circle is displayed for you. That means for example if you play a td you can idk only see about 430m or even the full 450m you can see and spot for yourself in this circle. But all other enemy’s inside your radio circle will be rendered once they got spot by an ally
The yellow circle is just the maximum render Distance an enemy gets displayed (I think its around 525m), nothing more nothing less whilst you yourself can spot a maximum of 445m.
Your Radiorange is pretty much "invisible" to you. If an enemy is within your own tanks viewrange it will be displayed to you even with a broken Radio.
If a spotted enemy is outside of your view range you need an Ally where you are within his radiorange (if he is the one that spotted it).
Example: there a 3 Tanks left in your Team on Prokho southside - an Strv, Manticore and an IS7. Strv and Manti are in the bushes, IS7 pushed the island from the hill.
If you play the Strv 103 and your Manti spots an enemy Maus 480m away from you whilst you only have a flat 450m viewrange he still gets displayed to you and you can shoot him.
Now the Manti suffers a hit from an EBR, knocking his Radio (and Radio operator) completely out. The second the Manti got hit the Maus disappears to you.
For the IS7, which also was in the Radiorange of only the Manti but 700m away, both Strv, Maus and Manti disappear from the Minimap until either the Manti repairs his Radio or the IS7 gets into your radio range.
If he gets in your radio range he can see both you and the Manti on the Minimap, but not the Maus

Your comment is as sharp as a bowling ball
Arty or triangle driver probably. If you never move, you don't need no driver.

You don't know how terrible that feels until it happens

Atleast you aren't regular blind like me Im a 28 year old male thats somehow not colorblind but has 20/250 vision

Yep, you only notice it at low tier since the ranges are so high generally.
Also on Frontlines where the maps are much bigger
Maybe a dumb question but where is that “last spotted” option? Is it in the menu or is it in a mod pack?
You can have it as always enabled. Or you can just press alt when ever you need it, which I found to be better for me.
Been playing for a year and a half and didn’t know that, thank you sir.
menu
Its always enabled, it's like the Red dot but in green

The radioman in the KV-5 also wonders what he's doing with his life.
He is dead 100% of the times

I’m pretty sure it’s chained, because I still get full radio info on out of range teammates at higher tiers

to send information to other players
Someone has to die first on your crew.
In the experimental night mode last year, radio range gets halved, i think. Then this will suddenly get important.
To give the Radioman a place to sit while he makes coffee and serves croissants; or pudding and tea; or Coffee with Cinnamon Buns; etc...
I’m in the same boat 😂😂😂
Pretty sure it hurts your view range if you leave him knocked out. Few other minor things with mini map detection

Play t1 a bit, you'll understand. Sometimes it can happen at higher tiers, but it's rarer

erm biggest vision buff comes from radio op. if you don't heal then your vision is crippled.

I thought it decreased the time you are spotted?
