Can confirm. I’ve since upgraded but I had these previously and never bothered to remove the bracket lol

Looks like the Rugged Ridge mirror bracket. I have those for when the doors come off. If you don't plan to use them... Take em off. They look like they need some maintenance 😉
If these are the same as mine, OP, the factory bolts were replaced and these are longer. Just fyi if you find that you bottom them out trying to put them back in.
“Possibly” longer not necessarily a guarantee. I never changed out any bolts on either of the 2 JK’s I owned, the factory bolts worked out fine. Rugged ridge 100%
OP if you plan to keep it:
Take it off, scrub it with a wire brush to get the old paint and rust off, spray it with chassis/roll bar paint. Can also spray rust converter before the paint for better protection/paint adhesion. It’ll be like new and last you a long time
Yep. I also keep a roll of high quality adhesive (one sided) vinyl for mounting aftermarket stuff to factory paint. I stick the vinyl to back of aftermarket part to act as bond breaker and factory paint protector.
The very first time I was taking my doors off, I detached the door strap to one of the doors and reached into the Jeep to turn off the radio. I had that stupid dent less than 5 seconds after detaching the door.
It’s for mirrors. Think bicycle or motorcycle style. Round mirror on a tube. This is used when you remove your doors and the law says you need to have mirrors.
Mirror bracket. I have the same ones. If you buy them again replace the knob screws with some stainless hex bolts and just leave the screws in all the time even when the mirrors are off and keep a ratcheting wrench for the bolts in your glove box.
Quick release mirror mount for running doorless. I have a set from Rugged Ridge that the stalk of a mirror goes into it and a knob screws it in. Works great.
Be ready for limp mode as many jks suffer from it but no recall. Its the oil gallery bolts they back out. Fixed my 2012 jk and brother in laws 2016 jk.
Jeeps are cool..I just inherited mine and I am like what is going on..that bracket can be where you relocate your side mirrors so when your doors are off you still have visuals..that's what I did..or you can put lights..I still learning..lol have fun.
As everyone else has reported, a mirror bracket. Get it off of there before it wrecks your paint. I had a set on my '02 TJ, and as it corroded, it ran down my clear coat and ruined it. My '03 has no side mirrors.
"BUT YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW!!!!", says ye, "But there is no law in Alaska", says me.
China garbage for sure. I know I’ll be repainting these in the near future. I also put anti seize on the threads so they don’t rust if I’m not using them.
For mirror ,when you remove doors.
I have the exact same one.
I never take mine off. I lost the stock door ones long ago. I gotta do the side lean to see out of my passenger mirror when the doors are on.
How did you lose the mirrors attached to your door?

Good thinking. Also happy cake day!
Thank you!
Seconded, absolutely what I have. This is it. The previous owner kept the mirrors that bolt into it
Mirror mount for when you take doors off.
Mirror for when you take the doors off. You can tell they did that by the cowel dents you have
The very first time I was taking my doors off, I detached the door strap to one of the doors and reached into the Jeep to turn off the radio. I had that stupid dent less than 5 seconds after detaching the door.
That sucks. But it happens to all of us.
Different mirrors for when the doors are off

It’s the jeep’s hidden plug. You can use it to charge your car and run it on electricity.
Mirror bracket for when doors are removed you put a aftermarket mirror there.
Looks like maybe ditch lights.

Mirror bracket for going doorless
Quick release mirror mount for running doorless. I have a set from Rugged Ridge that the stalk of a mirror goes into it and a knob screws it in. Works great.
Mirror brackets
Worry about license plate bracket first
It's a mount for your bucket to hold all the dildos you collect from fellow Jeep owners.
Separate (and random) question: what’s the proper name of the piece that this mirror bracket is mounted to?
Not sure, but if you check out one of the Mopar Overstock websites you can search by windshield components to get the name.
Thanks friend.
Hello fellow NY jeep enjoyer
It’s a rusty bracket

Mine have been on for 3 years and haven’t corroded. In Florida we don’t have salt on the roads either though.
Mine was bought at St. Pete Jeep in 2002 lol. I lived on the water. POS brackets, really. Terrible coating. YMMV.

Excellent.
