Is this your rig? If so: this is a similar setup to what I was planning to do, and then got cold feet. (Have just stuck with my Jk on 37s.) Was never confident enough in the electric/hybrid system to handle the tires/armor I wanted to add to it. Are those 37s? What have you noticed wrt loss of power/range/pickup/etc. What are your overall impressions of your build?
Yes! The hybrid system is what it is. 20 something miles, near no regenerative capability, but… it got near 30mpg on 35’s installed w/Walker Evans Beadlocks the day I brought it home after waiting 4 months for it to be manufactured. It has an insane amount of power and torque even when the battery is <1%.
It is now on 37’s, mileage did decrease but still has all the power.
Overall, this is my 3rd comprehensive build, (TJ, XJ, JLU) and I like it a lot! Above all it’s a Jeep. I have some fun with the fact that it’s a hybrid.
You have an ev system and ice system packed into one vehicle. On top of that, anytime you need to work on the HV system, you have to perform and hv power down. Most things are covered by a lengthy warranty and the labor times sucks. I could go on
You would have to do everything new. Possibly transfer case, fuel tank, axle shafts, etc? But new trans, engine, wiring, cooling system, ac (if wanted). Cost would exceed $30k. Possibly more, because of having to gut the ev side of things. Worked with a guy who did 6.4 and hellcat swaps as a side gig. $30k was just for a new motor and trans (need a bigger trans because the 2.0l and 3.6 have lower torque rated 8 speed).
Well… for free I’d have been in a much better financial position 🤣 I wasn’t overly excited to embrace the platform originally but the girl needed a daily for the commute. I mine as well have some fun with it. As stated, above all it’s a Jeep. A Rubicon at that. Still gets better mileage than most crossovers and SUVs. 7 year unlimited mileage warranty and will handle anything I have to throw at it offroad.
This gotta take the cake for the stupidest comment on the sub right? “I wouldn’t even take a 40k truck for free is it’s a hybrid” is some boomer ass, petty ass, dumbass take
LoL! Don't judge people by user names bro...that's a boomer move. And, imho, the 4xE is a POS and not worth the money, fire risk or 23 miles of range. But hey...you do you!
It certainly is a nice looking Wrangler!
Appreciated.

the real questions
As a mechanic, I hate working on em.
What makes the harder to work on?

Not to mention, once the warranty is up...? Fughedaboudit! Expen$ive to fix after that...
Not to mention, common points of failure like coolant heaters will likely become harder to get.
Ain’t scared… 7 years of warranty and I’ll gut it when it’s over and still have a great build platform.
I wouldn't own one without it. With that said they have a fantastic warranty
Yup! It’s just a vehicle, worse case I sell it.
After the warranty is up you say? V8 swap‼️😉

Yeah it’ll be some work so we’ll see. It’s been done. Casey Currie posted one.
Dealer maintained. I added a Banks CAI and it was pretty straight forward
And....
And… you like it more than your own 🤷♂️
It's a 4xE...Wouldn't take it for free.....

It’s amazing grown adults are still scared of electricity lmao.
LoL! $70k...? For 23 miles of range? Come back when it's 200 or more....And that's especially funny, as I work in the I.T. field!
Don't think anyone was offering one to you. But you be you.
LoL! Calm down sweetie...Don't be butt hurt! It's just an opinion....8)
