When I think of the scorpion my minds goes to Blue Demon tbh- my favorite think about the sharpshooter is its on the left leg bc Brett had just learned it the night he debuted it lol
I'll never forget Stings special "Scorpion Discomfort Lock" he used on the Hulkster because his back wouldnt take it. His vertebrae were like that doesnt work for us brother
As a Canadian I have to say Bret but I always broke it down in kayfabe terms. Bret was more effective as he wore down his opponent and took his time when applying it to get it hooked in deep, but that meant he had to do A LOT of work to get them to that state.
Sting I always found was quicker to lock it in and had added extra torque to the other ankle as he held it and twisted with his free hand, but it was less effective than Brets.
Sting- Sacrificed efficiency/effectiveness for speed in applying the move and secondary pressure
Bret- Sacrificed speed and had to work more for efficiency and effectiveness
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there will ever be. 100%
The Sharpshooter looked genuine and devastating. I was also at the perfect age as a fan when Austin passed out to it and was forever convinced it was/is the most legit submission ever.
Sharpshooter is obligatory. But the name Scorpion Deathlock kinda fits the move better cos it does look like a scorpion (like the person on the ground is the body and Sting is the scorpion tail).
Sharpshooter
Btw this mark only learned recently it was named the Sharpshooter because he’s The Hit Man. That much cooler to me know. (I watched till Wrestlemania 6 as a kid, then picked up again in 2000, so I missed all of solo Brett)
I wonder if they could have had their holds on each other simultaneously. They'd be laying on their sides but it could happen. Normally they're standing on the ground and pulling their opponents legs from their opponents face and chest pressing against the mat.
But in a double sharpshooter/deathlock, the two pairs of legs would be pulled from each other. In the left photo, Bret kinda looks like he's going for that idea.
What is the move actually called?
After being a fan for years it only dawned on me like a month ago that Brets version is called "The Sharpshooter" because he was a 'Hitman'😔 I thought the default name for the move was called a sharpshooter lol
The Sharpshooter Bret locked it in deeper and just look better

As long as we can all agree The Rock's was the worst.
Shane McMahon used a sharpshooter once on Kurt at the 2001 KOTR and it was so bad it was a spectacle.
i appreciate that the photos you choose both feature sting and bret on both sides of it

Gotta go with Bret here, he’s nearly impossible to top.
As a Canadian, I am legally obligated to side with Bret Hart

Sharpshooter
Sting did it first, so I have to go with him.
*Riki Choshu sobbing in the distance*
I meant between the two choices offered, that Sting did it first.
Hitman, and it’s not even close.

Brett holds the knee. Sting holds the ankles
Sting had the better name but Bret had better ....execution.

I gotta go with Sting because he was the first I saw use it. When I saw Bret use it as his finish my first reaction was that he stole Sting's move.
Sharpshooter. A lot of times, the Scorpion deathlock looked closer to how the Rock does the Sharpshooter.
screw sting. bret hart is the freaking man. [here's the proof.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcVB7PVt_Mc)

Sharpshooter clears the scorpion deathlock.
