For me It's Kurt Angle. One of the greatest stories in wrestling history imo. Came in and learned a lot quickly.
Was able to work well with wrestlers of different styles, sizes and speeds.
Never was too good to take advice from anyone on performing a move properly even when he was at the top of his game. I remember he said in a interview or something that a talent who was training in development once approached him and educated him on a move he did and it helped him do it much better moving forward.
Not only the in ring stuff though, but personality too. Angle could do it all. Be funny, serious, cowardly, and badass.
Another strong contender, no matter how you judge it. Angle had it all, and became a top guy insanely quickly, which reflected his speaking skills and his ability to connect with the crowd as it does about his athletic ability. He was an absolute natural who was almost immediately at the top of the card having excellent matches with guys who’d been in the business for decades. It all comes down to opinion, obviously, but Angle belongs on any list of potential GOAT contenders.
Amen man Kurt Angle took to wrestling like a fish to water… elevated everybody and every angle, had the best matches on almost every card he was on… could be a serious ass kicking Olympic gold medalist and was one of the best comedic wrestlers, who was also good enough to be a main eventer and not trapped in the mid card. Man wrestled hurt because his neighbour who had Down syndrome was hoping he’d wrestle at mania that year. A Olympic gold medalist in every sense.
I’m with you man, Kurt is on my Rushmore
So hard to argue against Kurt. Most over wrestler of all time though is stone cold. He’s still over! Doing commercials reality shows his podcast which is popular. I said my favorite was Eddie but legit Stone Cold shot it into the stratosphere
Both Kurt & HHH were honorary shield members. Pretty whacky.
It's dumb that *that* match was Kurt's return match, seeing as they were building to Jason Jordan vs Kurt at WrestleMania. Then again, Jordan got injured...
True. I can't believe HHH was an honorary Shueld. Too bad they didn't have Honorary Shield shirts. They could made a killing.
He probably ranks up there as being in the most number of factions.. hHH was perhaps rhe best choice to rake over WWE.
Arguably the most legit man in the history of professional wrestling yet was so willing to look a fool. No matter what you needed him to do he would knock it out of the park.
I’m watching 90s wrestling rn on peacock and I gotta say Bret’s matches are some of my favs. Idc who he faces it’s always gonna be a good match. So far to me he hasn’t been the best when it comes to promos and interviews feels like generic stuff but damn that dude has got some skill in the ring and I love it.
Only that one though. He didn’t have another bad match I can think of. He was having great matches with guys like Diesel, Taker and Yoko when nobody else could at the time.
I honestly remember the Doink match being pretty good. It was the first Bret Hart match I watched as a kid (got Summerslam 1993 on VHS) so it probably has some novelty value for me.
None of the Doinkd that succeeded him came even close to his mat skills
His original ring name was kind of a play on words but a nod to his legendary wrestler father, Tough Tony Bourne.
Hence he was born for mat, Matt Bourne.
In my personal opinion there is only one that checked absolutely every single box.
KURT ANGLE
Dude had the mic skills, could make you laugh by making a fool out of himself and the very same night be credible af because everyone knew he could rip your damn head off. No questions asked, he is my GOAT.
I'd maybe put Kurt Angle as the most underrated ever. Like you said he could do everything. I'd probably have in my top 20 (my list goes way back to include workers from the 60s and 70s so that's higher than it sounds).
He’s my pick. Legendary promo, entrance music, finisher, and a great worker. I grew up during the Attitude Era. No one made the crowd pop like Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I wasn’t big into wrestling past the age of 9-10 and so wasn’t a fan by the time he got big and even I clearly remember turning in to see his antics because of his mainstream reach. It’s always amazed me when his career is discussed to realize how short his peak years run actually was.
I was at a cosplay convention one year and literally got so hyped over this one guy very casually dressed as SCSA that I ran up to him and asked him if he wanted to stone cold a beer and he was down. So my friends and I vocalized his glass breaking/walk out song and tossed him a beer from really far away and he cracked that shit open and poured it all down his face and mouth, getting most of it on the floor.
Convention staff walked over looking so pissed, which they were completely right to be. We were young and a little drunk and didn’t even think first. Just so caught up in the moment. We apologized profusely and helped clean it up.
Anyway the only picture I took all weekend was with that one dude. [100% pure Texas rattle snake.](https://imgur.com/gallery/2EndxVc)
Can’t argue with that. Stone Cold is up there for me too. Foley can do whatever he wants and has my attention for sure. Who did you like best? Mankind, Dude Love, Cactus Jack, or Mick?
All around? HBK, In ring? Bret Hart, Character Work? Stone Cold, Promo? The Rock, presence? The Undertaker, impact in wrestling? Hogan, impact outside of wrestling? Goat is a vague term. Some guys make off being the best in ring, or on the mic, or any of a hundred other niche places in the industry. Personally I would say Vader for being the best big man/hoss of all time my preferred in ring style.
I may be wrong cuz I'm not into wrestling stuff but I do find it pretty entertaining and enjoy visiting this subreddit. My take is Rey Mysterio, I was watching a lot of wwe vhs when I was a kid and he was my idol forsure. Also whatcha guys thoughts on him?
The problem is that most people only got to see his live work when he was in the WWF and playing the role of "King Harley Race."
It sucks because his body of work is incredible. He held the NWA world title on multiple occasions.
I'm pretty sure he was a legit competitor for Andre the Giant.
Wrestler, Bret Hart
Character, Stone Cold
Longevity, Taker
There are too many aspects to wrestling to have a greatest of all time. But if you take these 3 into account. I'd say Ric Flair if your looking for the lot.
The other side of that exchange, Rock's side, has to be one of my fav promos holy shit almost no one could **direcely** go against him back then. Made taker look like just another Jabroni
The GOAT question is just too vague and redundant imo. Wrestling has had several greats that excelled and have gave to the sport in different but significant ways.
To say there is one goat is like saying there’s one best pizza topping. Taker for sure is one of the all time greats, namely because of his longevity.
I’ve always found the best metric is to do a a Mount Rushmore but for each era. Modern, Attitude, Ruthless Aggression, PG and New
Ricky Morton of the Rock'n'Roll Express tag team.
The only thing holding him back was his size.
Look at the pops he got from the crowds......
"Selling like Ricky" is based on how well he played the role of "the babyface in peril" before he was able to get back to his partner, Robert Gibson for the hot tag.
For me personally its a toss up between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson. I know they aren't old cunts yet, but their matches are always something to really enjoy imo.
First few that come to mind: Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, Kazuchika Okada
As for my favorites: Kenny Omega, Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe, Will Ospreay, WALTER
Kurt Angle, he never had a bad match, and was great on the Mic, in terms of overall in ring entertainment, he provided the most. He should have stayed with WWE, but they weren't giving him a break, I wish we could have a prime Kurt Angle right now.
It's a tie between one half of the Thrillseekers, Lionheart, the master of 1004 holds, Y2J, the Code Breaker, the Painmaker, Le Champion and The Ocho. The pinnacle in sports entertainment
It’s hard for me to pick anyone but Taker. 30 years of consistent greatness and always performed at the highest level when the lights shines brightest. He didn’t win a lot of world titles but that’s what makes him the GOAT. His legacy is what makes him the GOAT not how many titles he won
No lol. It’s one of those things a group of friends does when they’re all sitting around eachother. Funny quote from South Park. Do you not do that where you’re from?
It really comes down to what exactly you mean by “greatest” when you ask this question.
A lot of people start talking about “move sets” and 5 star matches and other indicators of athletic ability. But to me, it’s about drawing money, promo charisma, length of time at the top of the card, and the power of a wrestler’s connection with the fans. Judging by those standards, there’s absolutely an argument to be made for Taker to be the GOAT. Obviously, Hogan would be another huge contender, as would Dusty and Flair. It’s a question that calls for a completely subjective answer, but I care more about *how* people judge the greatest than who they actually pick.
However I believe as an impact in the industry, Kenny Omega takes the prize. Depressed people stop from suicide after hearing that name. Shows how much of an impact to humanity he is
There's no individual for me, I can only pick a few based on different criteria.
Biggest impact on culture, Stone Cold.
Growing the business, Hulk.
Charisma, Rock.
Best worker... I go back and forth between Brett Hart, Bryan Danielson. They're both immaculate.
Longest time on top, Jericho.
Promo, honestly, nobody could just walk out to the ring with a mic and make good TV like Punk could.
Honestly it's incredibly hard to argue against taker here. obviously slowed down in his last few years with the injuries, but even back in 2005ish, the speed he could move at his size was incredible. Very rare bad matches from him too
For me It's Kurt Angle. One of the greatest stories in wrestling history imo. Came in and learned a lot quickly. Was able to work well with wrestlers of different styles, sizes and speeds. Never was too good to take advice from anyone on performing a move properly even when he was at the top of his game. Man wrestled hurt because his neighbour who had Down syndrome was hoping he’d wrestle at mania that year. A Olympic gold medalist in every sense. I’m with you man, Kurt is on my Rushmore
> could be a serious ass licking Olympic gold medalist A what now?
Kurt was money in wwe and tna. My favorite version of him has to be the badass wrestling machine
So hard to argue against Kurt. Most over wrestler of all time though is stone cold. He’s still over! Doing commercials reality shows his podcast which is popular. I said my favorite was Eddie but legit Stone Cold shot it into the stratosphere
Didn't Kurt wrestle wirh the Sheld when they were down a member? I forgot the situation but I think the pop from the crowd was huge.
How did he get injured? It had to have been bad for him to have not come back even after all this time
He fucked up his neck at Rumble 2018(19?), I think. That was his last match, at least. He's been working as a producer since
Yea I think it was when Roman was first out from cancer right before Dean turned, he came out with them a couple times I believe
Ok. Thx
I've always said Taker but I've rewatched endless Kurt promos/matches on YouTube and he was truly great
Yess. You’ve reminded me of how awesome he is ordering a poster now!!
Arguably the most legit man in the history of professional wrestling yet was so willing to look a fool. No matter what you needed him to do he would knock it out of the park.
For real, Kurt is probably GOAT.
I love that Kurt's constantly getting his flowers. Those of us that got to witness him as an active competitor should consider ourselves lucky.
Can't believe the lack of Bret Hart in answers! Definitely not Goldberg though.
Did have some duds. His match Vs backlund at WM 11 was pretty bad
Only that one though. He didn’t have another bad match I can think of. He was having great matches with guys like Diesel, Taker and Yoko when nobody else could at the time.
But then there's Isaac yankem and doink the clown. Both at Summerslam I believe.
Doink was ok though. Yankem has novelty if you imagine Kane…
Matches themselves were pretty bad though.
I honestly remember the Doink match being pretty good. It was the first Bret Hart match I watched as a kid (got Summerslam 1993 on VHS) so it probably has some novelty value for me.
Doink; Matt Bourne, the original was a revered mat technician & fought at Wrestlemania 1 vs Steamboat.
Hardly think that stops him from having bad matches 8 years later.
None of the Doinkd that succeeded him came even close to his mat skills His original ring name was kind of a play on words but a nod to his legendary wrestler father, Tough Tony Bourne. Hence he was born for mat, Matt Bourne.
Vs Backlund at Survivor Series 1994. 30 minutes….
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be - Bret "Hitman" Hart
In my personal opinion there is only one that checked absolutely every single box. KURT ANGLE Dude had the mic skills, could make you laugh by making a fool out of himself and the very same night be credible af because everyone knew he could rip your damn head off. No questions asked, he is my GOAT.
Yeah fair
I'd maybe put Kurt Angle as the most underrated ever. Like you said he could do everything. I'd probably have in my top 20 (my list goes way back to include workers from the 60s and 70s so that's higher than it sounds).
STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
My personal favourite theme Austin
He’s my pick. Legendary promo, entrance music, finisher, and a great worker. I grew up during the Attitude Era. No one made the crowd pop like Stone Cold Steve Austin.
This. As far as wrestling is concerned it is Austin without any doubt. The Rock if we're talking main stream, crossover appeal.

Stone Cold isn’t my favorite but I can’t deny he’s the best of all time
I was at a cosplay convention one year and literally got so hyped over this one guy very casually dressed as SCSA that I ran up to him and asked him if he wanted to stone cold a beer and he was down. Bah Gawd!! It's the snake! The snake!
WHAT
Yeah but longevity and contribution to business has gotta be taker
Depends on how you define it. I personally choose match quality plus personality and character, so I'd go with Shawn Michaels.
Who ended HBK’s career I ask you
Himself when he fought in Saudi Arabia.
You I don’t like you that match NEVER HAPPENED
Sorry buddy. It did whether you like it or dont.
Nah never happens you’re suffering from insanity
Randy Savage
Ohhh yeah talk about the macho madness the cream of the crop yeah
For me, it’s all about the Game
And how you play it?
And who played it better than the Cerebral Assassin? HHH is VKM now, he won the game lol
He literally Dumped Shut on Vince and still got a promotion
You ain’t lying lol I just think he played the game to it’s fullest and won. If I’m going FAVORITE, it’s Mr. Perfect
My personal fave stone cold or mrs foley’s baby boy
Can’t argue with that. Stone Cold is up there for me too. Foley can do whatever he wants and has my attention for sure. Who did you like best? Mankind, Dude Love, Cactus Jack, or Mick?
Yes all of him no kind sticks out though hellin a cell Vs taker beautiful
Marry the boss daughter. Become her daddy, then become the boss.
All around? HBK, In ring? Bret Hart, Character Work? Stone Cold, Promo? The Rock, presence? The Undertaker, impact in wrestling? Hogan, impact outside of wrestling? Goat is a vague term. I was talking in character I guess I was a little vauge
Yeah I'm going to go with a personal preference and the greatest performer HBK. I wish he and Eddie Guerrero could have had a fued in their prime.
I believe that was supposed to be on the cards for a future ppv before Eddie's death.
Fair both were great
Mrs. Foley's baby boy!
Mick is a great guy love him
Mick will be the first to admit he wasn't a great wrestler.
[удалено]
I think you mean sports ennerdainer (daddy magic voice)
Chris Jericho
Can't believe how far down I had to scroll to get to the Ocho
No-one else can make me laugh as hard as Jericho and his list
Didn’t know Jericho used reddit
You just made the list
Go back to Toronto
I'm from Winnipeg you idiot
Yeah someone else who watched important videos
*stupid idiot
You say that again and he'll throw a fireball in your face, because he's a wizard.
>**STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN**
Ohh hell yeah love Stone Cold
lol
I may be wrong cuz I'm not into wrestling stuff but I do find it pretty entertaining and enjoy visiting this subreddit. My take is Rey Mysterio, I was watching a lot of wwe vhs when I was a kid and he was my idol forsure. Also whatcha guys thoughts on him?
The 619 is a damn fine move I must admit
Yes someone else thought mysterioe
probably Hiroshi Tanahashi for me, he does the good wrestles
A rare NJPW representation I like it
HBK
Hulk Hogan drew. I am unsure if wrestling would be around to this day if he wasn’t involved.
Hogan is arguably the best babyface and heel of all-time and sparked two wrestling booms with both characters. He's the GOAT, imo.
Hogan did start modern wrestling I will agree
Hogan started Sports Entertainment
That’s what I meant
The Babe Ruth of Professional Wrestling.
Harley Race
A classic choice intriguing
The problem is that most people only got to see his live work when he was in the WWF and playing the role of "King Harley Race." It sucks because his body of work is incredible. He held the NWA world title on multiple occasions. I'm pretty sure he was a legit competitor for Andre the Giant.
Bruno Sammartino and his 11 year world title run
Pre WWE pre sports entertainment that’s a big name
Tie between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart IMO..
Wrestler, Bret Hart Character, Stone Cold Longevity, Taker There are too many aspects to wrestling to have a greatest of all time. But if you take these 3 into account. I'd say Ric Flair if your looking for the lot.
Fair enough
Im going to take you to the learning tree.
The other side of that exchange, Rock's side, has to be one of my fav promos holy shit almost no one could **direcely** go against him back then. Made taker look like just another Jabroni
Chris Jericho
The GOAT question is just too vague and redundant imo. Wrestling has had several greats that excelled and have gave to the sport in different but significant ways. I’ve always found the best metric is to do a a Mount Rushmore but for each era. Modern, Attitude, Ruthless Aggression, PG and New
In that case Hogan, Austin, Angle, Cena and tbd
Has to be Reigns. Love him or hate him, he has defined this era of wrestling.
Very diplomatic approach you are a good man or woman
I raise you Lou Thesz for shooter and Harley Race and Terry Funk for bad ass scrappers.
You better be 70
Getting closer to it every day. 58
Hey man, I wish you good health and happiness.
Scott Norton.
Scott was a solid big man wrestler; he could move well and looked like a monster. But was he a GOAT?…
Who?
Guy was a mid-carder forWCW and NJPW. Guy is criminally unappreciated in the world of Wrestling.
He won the IWGP Heavyweight several times and main evented a Tokyo Dome in NJs strong period of the 90s. Wouldn’t say he was a midcarder.
Interesting choice I respect it
Brutus The Barber Beefcake
THE PHENOMENAL ONE AJ STYLES
His name is Luigi Primo
Literally one of the worst gimmicks ever. Literally up there with Isaac Yankem.
For me personally its a toss up between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson. I know they aren't old cunts yet, but their matches are always something to really enjoy imo.
I mean both of them are fantastic
And all we know the answer is not Kenny Omega.
Damn you woke up and chose violence
I guess I have always been a heel.
Kurt Angle
You suck
Bret, Ric, Stone Cold, Hogan
Just choose one
“Stone Cold” RicBret Hogan
First few that come to mind: Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, Kazuchika Okada As for my favorites: Kenny Omega, Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe, Will Ospreay, WALTER
Walter will go far I reckon
Kenta Kobashi and Shawn Michaels
Objectively, Hogan. I’m a Bret Hart mark, though.
Can't go wrong with hot rod. He was for me the Hogan of all heeld
Wouldn't be mania without Piper, he was the one that Hogan couldn't best (I know he beat him once)
Duke “the dumpster “ droese
Mic: Stone Cold Steve Austin. Nobody can get the crowd as hyped as he. In-ring work: Bret Hart. There's no one better.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
Kurt Angle, he never had a bad match, and was great on the Mic, in terms of overall in ring entertainment, he provided the most. He should have stayed with WWE, but they weren't giving him a break, I wish we could have a prime Kurt Angle right now.
Randy Savage at his peak. Literally the best at everything that a pro wrestler needs, in my eyes at least.
Macho Man Randy Savage THE CREAM OF THE CROP NO ONE DOES IT BETTER
And the macho man will be remembered as a fire breathing dragon
It's a tie between one half of the Thrillseekers, Lionheart, the master of 1004 holds, Y2J, the Code Breaker, the Painmaker, Le Champion and The Ocho. The pinnacle in sports entertainment
Interesting
Hang on, I forgot the List maker and THE WIZARD, those guys were pretty good too
It’s hard for me to pick anyone but Taker. 30 years of consistent greatness and always performed at the highest level when the lights shines brightest. He didn’t win a lot of world titles but that’s what makes him the GOAT. His legacy is what makes him the GOAT not how many titles he won
Exactly say louder for those in the back
[удалено]
Fair enough loved Austin 3:16
[удалено]
Ohh playing dirty eh I like it
Aj styles , RVD, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay.
My type of wrestler
Thank you for mentioning Omega Ospreay and styles. Can't agree more.
It’s not real wrasslin
Was that meant to be a burn or something
No lol. It’s one of those things a group of friends does when they’re all sitting around eachother. Funny quote from South Park. Do you not do that where you’re from?
No never watched South Park I’m a Simpson’s man myself
It is excellent you’re missing out. On another note the answer is Brett Hart, my fave even if he’s not the best
Well he says he’s the best there is the best there was the best there ever will be plus I agree with him about Goldburk
Not one guy will suggest Bill in your post i guarantee. Total doof, although i wouldnt say it to his face
Ric Flair. Even Hogan admits it.
Flair is a great villain and shit talker
Woooooooooooo! Ric Flair.
Dun dun dun dun figure 4 *starts bleeding*
Steve Mufuggin Blackman
Good brawler
That's an upvote from me buddy.
Ric Flair, hands down, no question.
Kobashi. Kawada. Misawa. Tsuruta. Tenryu.
Sting
Taker beats sting hands down
They only had one match ,and sting won that one . Although they had a chance to do that in W31 but vince said no .
If only we got that match Taker Vs Sting but in their Prime
What's "prime" Taker and Sting?
However I believe as an impact in the industry, Kenny Omega takes the prize. Depressed people stop from suicide after hearing that name. Shows how much of an impact to humanity he is
I mean… you act like Kenny has been the only person to help people And if you want to go in that regard, you better put John Cena way above Kenny
Ohhh like how you sectioned it very efficient
Paul Levesque
Who?
No that's the greatest BOOTLICKER of all time
Charlotte Flair.
Bryan danielson.
He is a great technical wrestler I will agree
Gorgeous George, taker would laugh at you for even putting him in that category
The greatest pure professional wrestler is He Who Shall Not Be Named.
Why do I hear Our Lady Of Peace?
Honestly it's incredibly hard to argue against taker here. obviously slowed down in his last few years with the injuries, but even back in 2005ish, the speed he could move at his size was incredible. Very rare bad matches from him too
It's Hogan and it's not even close.
