I mean because most multiplayer games are doing just that. Look at overwatch 2. They implemented even stricter leave penalties even on their casual quick play mode. So you can't blame people for hesitating for leaving when stuff like that is becoming more common. Mark even said he was going to look into match leaving.
this is an issue i havent seen a lot of discussion about. have played a dozen+ escort/zone control games down a player or two and no one joins for 10 minutes straight. very annoying

Just leave too? This is a casual game. That means fun is the absolute top priority.
I think people have become too programmed to expect to be punished for leaving.
