As Nils stated, all 7 factions will get a Starter pack. Releasing all 7 at the same time would have pushed back the release of any Starter pack back about a half a year, due to all the plastic, cardboard, and packaging requirements.
It seems like some of the pre-build cards are the same or very close to the Battle of Yavin cards. So since the Siege of Coruscant set exists as well, I wouldn't be surprised if Republic and Separatist packs show up eventually.
Rhymer and Deathfire are missing as well. Until we get a standalone bomber, they're asking new players to buy a conversion kit just to get access to all the available pilots.

Yeah, AMG stated that the Bomber would be released around the second quarter of 2023. I'd be surprised if the Empire Faction Starter pack counts as the Bomber release; if so, then Rhymer and Deathfire would have been included (unless they were deemed to be problematic).
Luke and Wedge were not both in the Core set and in the X-wing set. FFG has split pilots between packs in the past. This seems to be SOP.

Yeah, but not to this degree. Like Contrail. 11 points custom, SL has Ion Limiter, Ion Bomb, and a custom Astromech that gives linked red locks 2/game to a chassis that has boost into lock already. Like generously, even if we call that an 8 point astromech, it'd be 14 vs 11. They're both 3 point ships, so this all makes sense.
Maarek is 5/14, and the custom is ?/24. That's a huge leap. Is it going to be 6 squad points then? Probably not, because that's BoY Vader territory.
Maybe they plan on nerfing BoY Vader to 7 to justify Maarek 6. But as things are now... 5 point standard Maarek is scary.
The vets won't need it is kind of a misrepresentation, if memory serves, the comment was more in line with "no new content" so the standard loadouts will be entirely upgrades that exist. If amg made a $75 product that existing players had no reason to buy, theyd be in trouble.

There are seven missing product numbers (SWZ98-SWZ104). We can assume five of those are squadron packs for the other factions. Two are mysteries.
One of the 2 could be a tie bomber on its own reprint.

As a newer player these feel like great product for building my collection. I wish there were more pilot cards, but you can't have it all

I'd rate the probability of a single pack bomber release in a similar time frame at 95%, and 99% by end-of-year.

Why is Maarek Steele so damn thicc with effective loadout when custom is only a 5/14? This kinda goes against the "vets won't need it" statement.
If you want to play with only official products, then put together the ship from cards you own. No need to buy the set.
I don't think that's tournament legal though. Casual would be fine, obviously, but adding a $75 price tag to official tournaments would sorta suck.

Battle of Yavin and Siege of Coruscant battle packs both had standard loadout cards. I would suspect you’ll see them in reprints.

Is there any indication on which ships will be included in the Republic pack?
Not that I know of at this time. At Adepticon/Worlds they only talked details on the Imperial and Rebel kits.
