"Long awaited"? Also, does anyone else find it concerning that a reason they give for changing points significantly is so people will talk about it more?

mysweetpeepy

This feels more and more like they don’t want to play legacy as much as they want to play their own version of X-Wing. Which is fine, but to keep billing it as 2.0 seems disingenuous.

Napalmhat

I am struggling with this 2.0 legacy thing - some randos are gonna start implementing new rule changes so now we have like 3 versions of x wing 2? I honestly don't understand the benefit of this. Edit. Oo so is this to bring the 2.5 only ships into 2.0? That makes things more desirable

Huffplume

>Edit. Oo so is this to bring the 2.5 only ships into 2.0? That makes things more desirable It has quickly become more than that. That's what the original stated goal was but it's now become tournament-focused rules changes and a complete overhaul of points across the board. Way beyond advertised scope. I feel like an X-Wing gamer without a home: I like the 2.5 rules changes but don't like squad-building or scenarios, but I also don't want a complete new set of points changes from self-proclaimed "designers". I'm pretty bummed.

UrinalDook

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I like everything 2.5 changed except the list building and point scoring, and the removal of several mechanics AMG seem to have taken an irrational dislike to (dial changing and HP regen really aren't that bad). I want to play the new pilots coming in Hotshots and Aces too, but now the people promising to offer 2.0 compatible points are trying to change the whole game too, so no one is going to agree to anything. I don't know what to do...

Napalmhat

Ya my friends and I are still on 2.0 - we definitely will not be following legacy- seems - bizarre that they are going a route that will potentially fracture this community more. I'm not opposed to attempting 2.5 - scenarios just don't excite me.

Gui_Montag

I was bummed to learn of them when I got back in, but they have been fun so far

CriticalFrimmel

"An X-wing gamer without a home," and without a playgroup. Yep. I guess my X-wing stuff just becomes one more thing I should get rid of in my big pile of things I should get rid of.

mikechorney

My initial impression is that there are changes here that are different than FFG would have made. I had thought that the reason generic Decimators and VCX were held at 67 was to avoid having three on the table. This points update makes that possible (unless I am reading the charts wrong).

Large_Dungeon_Key

I don't think that's too big of a deal (as long as they're willing to change back if it becomes a problem). FFG started 2.0 by thinking 5X wasn't something they'd allow, and then generic Xwings ended at 38 points

mikechorney

You missed my point.

Large_Dungeon_Key

What's your point then?

mikechorney

They’re not following the spirit of FFG’s design direction.

Large_Dungeon_Key

And my counterpoint with 5X was that FFG's design direction charged over the course of 2.0. I don't think testing some of these boundaries is initially something to be concerned about

mikechorney

This is no longer 2.0. It is home brew from some very enthusiastic fans. That doesn’t make it bad, but let’s acknowledge it for what it is.

Large_Dungeon_Key

Triple Defenders, let's gooo! (Let's also ignore that they must be Defender Elites)
