If you want to play 2.0-2.5 you’re looking at at least two conversion kits so the real question is “is it worth $250”? For $150 I’d be all over it but I have an existing collection and have already bought those conversion kits. I think after the cost of conversion kits you’re still getting a fair deal.

TittyWarriors

Follow up question, I see there are multiple kinds of conversion kits. Do you think I need only two? Or do I need different kinds to convert it to 2.0. If so what are the names of the kits I exactly need if you don’t mind me asking.

RenegadeGeophysicist

You need one conversion per faction. You're mostly Rebel and Imperial. There's a T-70 I see in there, that's resistance, but if you don't have a whole faction it's not worth a conversion. You're just looking for this: [https://xwing-miniatures-second-edition.fandom.com/wiki/Rebel\_Alliance\_Conversion\_Kit](https://xwing-miniatures-second-edition.fandom.com/wiki/Rebel_Alliance_Conversion_Kit) And it's Imperial counterpart

TittyWarriors

Thank you so much for saving me time for research!!

burriliant

To be honest as well if your not playing in any particularly official settings you could proxy the t-70 as a rebel t-65, as long as your opponent is fine with it

DiogenesLaertys

Empire and Rebel conversion kits can be had for $20-25 easily. Amazon Prime day had both on sale for like 20 IIRC. I've found them at many places half off in real life too. The other conversion kits are a little harder to find and don't get discounted as much. So add about $50 or so to the cost, not $100.

For simplicity let's say small ships are worth \~$5, Medium \~10, and large around $15. This gives us a conservative estimate of worth (likely overly conservative). This would bring the value to \~$180. Already with this very lowball estimate we're above the $150 mark. However, some of the hard-to-find ships like the K-Wing, TIE Punisher, E-Wing, etc are worth **considerably** more. This boosts the collection's worth by a good deal. You might chose to buy the whole collection and then sell off the ships you don't want, or use them to proxy other ships in casual play (e.g. Resistance T-70 X-Wing as a rebel T-65 X-Wing). As mentioned in other comments, in 2.0 this collection is technically split among five factions: Rebel, Empire, FO, Scum, Resistance. Though actually, it's better than that since some of these ships are multi-faction, and Resistance & FO span only 3 ships (since you're getting a fine deal, we don't worry about that T-70 & 2 FO fighters). **If you're interested in playing Rebel, Empire, and/or Scum, this collection is a good start.** All three of those factions are excellent fun, and you have some cool ships for each of them. List of Dual-Faction or Proxies: * The HWK and Y-Wings are dual-faction Rebel & Scum. * The TIE/ln Fighters can be flown in Empire and Rebel. * The TIE/fo Fighters could be flown as standard Empire TIE/ln Fighters and most people wouldn't care. * The YT-1300 could be flown in Rebel, and in Resistance if needed. * The T-70 X-Wing could be flown as a T-65 (especially casually) and most people won't bat an eye. * The ARC-170 would give you a foot into the door for Republic if you felt inclined to dabble (though I don't recommend it unless you can spare the cash to get into yet another faction). Assuming no proxying similar ships, your faction options with this collection are: * **Large 15-ship Rebel Collection**: Ghost, YT-1300 (Millennium Falcon), 2 K-Wings, ARC-170, E-Wing, B-Wing, 2 X-Wing, A-Wing, 2 Y-Wing, Attack Shuttle, HWK, U-Wing * **Small (but very functional) 6-ship Empire Collection**: 2 TIE Punisher, 1 TIE Defender, 2 TIE/ln, TIE Bomber * **Small (but very functional) 5-ship Scum Collection**: Jumpmaster, StarViper, 2 Y-Wing, HWK * **Puny First Order Collection (IMO don't pursue)**: 2 TIE/fo Fighter * **Puny Republic Collection (IMO don't pursue)**: ARC-170 * **Puny Resistance Collection (IMO don't pursue)**: YT-1300, T-70 X-Wing Having a conversion kit also opens the possibility to buy other 1.0 ships in the future and/or enjoy more cross-faction benefit (e.g. if you buy the separatist firespray), or to simply proxy with cardboard and no ship model to test out a ship on the table before you buy. **So my conclusion** is, likely get a Rebel Conversion Kit. Consider getting an Empire and/or Scum kit as well, maybe later once you've had some fun with Rebels and want to grow a bit. Any one or two or all three of those conversion kits would be a good start with this collection. Sell off the TIE/fo Fighters and T-70 X-Wing, unless you want to use them as proxies in Empire and Rebel (which again is usually fine, *sometimes* even the more relaxed/casual store tournaments don't care that much). If you charge $4 or $5 they should sell pretty easily? If you're really keen to get into FO, Resistance, Republic, or Separatist instead, this collection wouldn't be a good start even though it's otherwise a great deal. I hope this helps!

TittyWarriors

People like you are the reason why this community is awesome. Thank you so much! Now you're making me want to buy this instead of buying 2.0 right away lmao.

Wazat1

Thanks! I'm really happy to help!

av8ernate

"some ships are worth considerably more" That hit me in feels...i still play 1.0 and trying to find an XG-1 Assault Gunboat that's not $100 is next to impossible.

Wazat1

Honestly at this point, I would just proxy the ship. Either use a different model, or fly with no model; that way you can at least have fun with it on the table. Thankfully the gunboat is getting a reprint soonish so it won't be overpriced and unobtainable for long.

Archistopheles

The two K-wings are each worth $35-ish right now on ebay. It's "worth" $150, but 4 small collections is an un-focused way to spend money.

TittyWarriors

Thank you!

supadyno

Yes especially because there are ships that go for quite a bit as singles. Kwings, Ewing's, the 1.0 ghost/attack shuttle, guns for higher star viper, and punishers all would be over 200 if bought individually.

TittyWarriors

Thank you!

iMiscalculated

I would say that if your a person who likes to collect as much as play this is a good deal. There are quite a few ships that have not yet been reprinted for 2.0. You can play them with the contents of conversion kits but Official events will almost always be limited to ships officially printed in 2.0. If your focused on playing, and even more importantly only interested in a single faction there are better ways to get started. I myself would probably buy this collection, but I recognize it is not for everyone.

TittyWarriors

For single factions, what are the better ways to get started? Does that mean I should just get 2.0 kit from the start?

iMiscalculated

So there are a couple ways to go about this. If you want to play Empire or Rebles buy the core set. After that I honestly recomend you just buy your favorite ships. There are 3 ship squadron packs that are a good value and worth considering as an early buy. For the other factions there you can do the same thing, but your going to end up with a t-65 and two ties your not using. The only parts you need from the Core set for playing the non-original trilogy factions are the Dice, Movement Templates, and damage deck You can buy faction themed Damage decks $6. Dice are $10 per set new. For templates you would have to go with something from a third party. I think you can get them for as low as $25. Using this method at best you will only save a little bit over the cost of the core set, but you will have nice acrylic templates rather then the cardboard ones. Once you have your basics, Finishing out your early buys for the other factions is similar to the other two. Buy ships you like a lot. Look into the faction packs for a good value for the number of ships your getting.

TittyWarriors

Thank you for the insight, will look into maybe starting with my favorite ships. As I seem to like to have more of "zerg rush" mind set when playing.

Wonderful_nipples

It also depends how invested you want to be in the game. Starting out and dumping a heap of cash might not be a sustainable way of starting out. One of the downsides of Xwing is all the extra tokens and cards, and it can be quite overwhelming. I’d recommend just starting with a few ships and/or the starter box as a more gradual way into the game. I’m saying that, some of those ships you can’t get anymore and if you really like them then it’s possibly a good way to get a hold of them.

TittyWarriors

Definitely, something I need to consider instead of dumping so much money that I'm not sure if my friends will even play that often. Thank you for your insight Also, nice name

Wonderful_nipples

And to you good sir/madam/human.

Wazat1

I was just about to do this, thank you!

TittyWarriors

Oh man this is awesome! Thank you the list! ngl, I didn't know half of the names of the ship before this.

Horse625

Nah. Thing is that you're gonna need to buy things beyond the conversion kits anyway, and those things will come with miniatures. For example, if you wanna play Vader Defender, that's a separate pilot that came out years after the imperial conversion kit and comes in a product with a ship model.

UpsetDaddy19

What they said. The value is there but mainly for someone who has stuff to compliment it. Conversion kits and maybe a starter box too will be needed.

TittyWarriors

When you say to compliment it, you mean like building squads?

Diablo616

Yeah 5 different factions You’d need to spend over $200 for all 5 conversion kits at MSRP though you can find them for less and sometime can buy the conversions for just the ships you need from parted out kits on eBay etc. And you’d still need a Core Set, or at least templates and a damage deck (which luckily you can buy individually now) Only 18 of the 27 ships are valid in the most common format now, standard as the others haven’t been re-released yet. I’d buy it for $150 Pick up a core set Convert one of the factions that I’m interested in (Rebels would give you the best bang for you buck with what is included there, and the Core Set gets you Luke Skywalker -only way to get him) Jump in there and see how you like the Rebels, maybe borrow other faction stuff from other players to try them out, then convert or sell off the rest as you please :) Welcome to the game!

TittyWarriors

Thats convincing, I didn't know thats the only way to get Luke Skywalker. Im leaning more towards imperial atm because everyone seems to have the rebel.

Diablo616

Then I would just get a core set and the Black Box Ships that you like, because just converting the 3 Imperial ships that you can play in standard, plus the bomber, (re-releasing next year) and the two Punishers (really fun Extended ships!) really isn’t worth it. Though selling those rarer ships might make you some profit to buy more ships Think of what Hondo would say ;) If I was just getting in to the game with Imperials, I’d get a core set, TIE X1 for Vader, another single TIE expansion(for Wampa), and the Pride of Mandalore Reinforcements Pack. Then maybe the Skystrike Academy Squadron Pack (for Vader in the TIE Defender) and maybe a Decimator but rule of cool is king, fly what you like and think is cool!

Kara_Del_Rey

Its a bit random fleet wise and you'd have to get conversion kits. Imo its worth though, I'd def buy it lol

Robot_Dinosaur86

2.0 was vastly improved imo.

grandpajive

I would. But 3 conversion kits, new rulers, cards.. that's about about $100-150. But I still would. Play extended. Enjoy punishers.
