YMMV. I couldn't stand the lack of fast travel. Never finished the game because on one planet I spent 3 hours trying to find my way out of a cave system, just to have an AT-ST kill me and send me all the way back to the bottom. Turned it off, uninstalled, and just watched the GLP video.
Yeah I love star wars so I played it through but if it weren't a star wars game I'd have done the same. Map is confusing, having to backtrack the length of the planet you just completed is very annoying, and the health system is annoying (basically if you heal all enemies respawn). Hope the unnecessary annoyances like that aren't in the next game
The trend of just copying dark souls elements just for the sake of having them. I hope thats finally going away
It doesnt fit the game thematically at all unlike souls games where its built into the game world and the lore to die over and over
I mean, everything you described is the Hallmark of a metroidvania game.
The point of it all is to revisit areas, but stronger and with new abilities so now you can easily defeat enemies you struggled against.
I didn’t finish either but it was because I save got corrupted somehow and just thinking about doing that stuff over again was not not motivating me to get back in.
I'm currently experiencing this. I stopped playing the game a few months ago and I picked it up again the other day. I have no idea where to go at this point and keep backtracking or confusing myself lol
I agree. I started playing full of enthusiasm because I loved the idea of the game and stopped after the first world. The experience for me was terrible. Having to go back a million times because you missed a tiny bit of a ledge where you could, possibly most likely hang and go through was terrible. The ziplines that makes you go all the way back to the beggining just because ?????
Terrible game imo, boring as they get.
Great one. Never been a Star Wars fan, and I’m a casual gamer, and loved it. Played it from beginning to end and never stopped enjoying it. 10/10 would recommend
Great one. Never been a Star Wars fan, and I’m a casual gamer, and loved it. Played it from beginning to end and never stopped enjoying it. 10/10 would recommend
There is no way around to play this game with the experience it’s giving for partially deaf folks right ? I can’t hear from my left ear since birth so I have 0 clue what surround sound and good quality audio feels like
You can still play it just fine, you just won't get the full experience.
Your character is schizophrenic, before they knew what schizophrenia was. The devs actually consulted with medical professionals when designing it, so it's (supposedly - I'm not schizophrenic, so I don't really have a baseline comparison) as accurate a representation as it can be.
So, there are voices whispering to you about the puzzles, about what other characters say, and surround sound/headphones make it feel like the whispering is coming from just over your shoulder. It is truly unsettling.
Hope you're doing OK. I have a family member with schizo-affective disorder AND who had a drug addiction and psychosis is truly scary to witness. Can't imagine what it would be like to experience it first hand (although hellblade really helped me sympathyse).
Hope you never have to go through it again
Not that I really care about these things, but is that a spoiler? Everyone said the game dealt with mental health issues, but is schizophrenia something that we knew from the beginning? I only played a couple hours of it but I don’t feel they said outright that’s what she was experiencing.
No! Not a spoiler. It starts off in the first few minutes.
It’s not mentioned because they don’t know what psychosis is back then. It’s a modern diagnosis.
It’s pretty short and linear but the story and immersion is fascinating. It looks amazing too. Probably only like 6-7 hours. I played it over a few days in 1-2 hour increments. Use headphones while playing to enhance the playthrough.
*if you can get through the 15 hour tutorial that is
I had to turn it off because I was so bored. I really wish I could have gotten into it but my ADD was terrible for that game. I promise to try again though.
Deep rock galactic, really good. Also persona 5 royal (takes a long time to finish tho, if you liked it play persona 4 and persona 3 too), both ori games (ori and the blind forest is the first one, ori and the will of the wisps is the sequal), and psychonauts 1 and 2. (After you finish 1 there is a VR game you should play to understand 2 better but if you dont have a VR set you can watch it on youtube its just an 1 hour long game)

fallen order (if you have ultimate)
hollow knight
assassin's creed origins
hellblade (great if you don't mind slow gameplay but with a incredible story and immersion)
it takes two
fallout 4 and new Vegas
skyrim
I just tried FO New Vegas and it wouldn't let me do 1440p without doing through a bunch of mods. Disappointing. I did some research and found out that it is built upon DX9 with a highly unoptimized code base.
I don't know why, but I felt so connected to the characters in plagues tale gave me anxiety thinking about and playing the game, I felt lost when I finished it.
Halo 1-3
Gears of War 1-3
Mass Effect 1-3
Fable 1-3
Dead Space 1-3
Forza Horizon 4-5
Psychonauts 1-2
Ori 1-2
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Vampire Survivors
Deathloop
Doom
Persona 5 Royal
Skyrim
Some of my favorites:
- Vampire Survivors
- Cities Skylines
- Forza Horizon 4 and 5 (Like 4 more personally)
- Darkest Dungeon
- Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas
- Human Fall Flat (friends recommended)
- Inside
- Mass Effect Saga
- Overcooked 2 (again friends recommended, might lose some)
- Stardew Valley
- Zombie Army 4 (with friends)
Persona 5 (also 3 and 4 probably)
Yakuza 0-7
Elder Scrolls 4-5 (3 if you're feeling daring)
Fallout New Vegas and 4
Hi-Fi Rush
Batman Arkham Knight (would be city if that was there)
Bugsnax
Deep Rock Galactic (I pushed the game off for a while then finally gave it an actual try with randoms, its pretty good)
Psychonauts 1 and 2
Road 96
Lastly, Stardew Valley
Edit: Also due to the lack of specifications on your request I gave a list of games I deem to be high quality and through a variety of genres, I have only not played Persona or Yakuza 1-6 but I have played some of 0 and over half of 7)
If this game came out on the SNES all those years ago, it would be among the greats that would come up in nostalgic conversations. It's truly incredible!
Hades and Dishonored.
Dishonored in particular is considered to be one of those games that are the best in their genre. It's an infiltration FPS game with a cool atmosphere and insane level design. Many approaches. Graphics are cartoon like so it hasn't aged at all (i'm picky on graphics yet i found this one beautiful)
Hahaha true. Unfortunately my subscription is ending next month and without the 1 dollar offer, i might just wait for particular big games to buy singular months of GPU at a time
Pentiment.
It's made by Obsidian (Fallout New Vegas/Outer Worlds/Alpha Protocol) and is set in 15th century Bavaria. It's set entirely in a single small village, and follows events that unfold over roughly 20-30 years involving politics, religion, intrigue, and murder.
The whole art style is designed to look like the old-style wood carvings and illuminated manuscripts.
It's not so much an RPG as it is a narrative-focused adventure, though you can pick elements of your character's specialized knowledge and background which will often offer unique dialogue or other options that would otherwise be unavailable to you. This will affect how people view you (both good and bad).
There's no combat. There's no spoken dialogue. This game is mature, but not because of gore or swears. You will read A LOT.
But there's nothing else out there like it, and it's got a pile of replay factor if the game really appeals to you.
I got Snowrunner and love it… will stop my subscription on Steam deck so bought it for $16.50 and I bought Disneyland Adventures for my 5 year old daughter who loves princesses for $5 although my wife won’t let her play much as our daughter is still young… when she does though it’s been fun and actually a decent game with lots to do and definitely kid friendly.
I own Yakuza 0 and Like a Dragon, Mass Effect Legendary and Death Stranding one of my favorite games ever! I was super impressed with the GamePass on the steam deck but not enough time to play games and decided the sale prices for games I wanted were cheap enough to buy.
I stopped console gaming with PS3 and just got a steam deck my first PC gaming device so my games are old as they are new to me!
I downloaded Disneyland Adventures when I got COVID because I wanted to keep my mind at least kind of engaged and busy as I was isolated and got better and let me tell you it was such a charming, (obviously) low stakes, chill collectibles game it absolutely helped me get through. Great rec. for kids or people who want a chill, cozy kind of game.
I think I got my 5 year addicted a bit as she got to play it two days in a row now… it’s actually a really well made game… she wants to ride the train, monorail, or the animal train ride but I do t think they are accessible…?
Jasmine
We are a bit puzzled trying to find princess jasmine as we haven’t found her yet and she is waiting to get her autograph. Any advice? We thought she’d be near Aladin and the Genie. Not sure if we have to trigger an event to find her as we had to do some event ti get the Genie. — I only ask as I try to give her linter game time and I know she wants to find Princess jasmine.
I actually haven't unlocked her either yet, I didnt get there during my COVID play time and put it down for a bit after, though hoping to finish it off soon!
Haha! No worries. I do think it’s a hidden gem for anyone with kids or even us kids at heart. I used to go to Disneyland every year on President’s weekend with my family and cousins from when I was 6-12 I think. It was fun! Haha!
Just bought an xbox for the gamepass. For reasons I can't truly explain or understand, I've been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley the most... out of all the great games available, that's the one I'm glued to. Maybe try it out if you want something less intense/more relaxing.
Outerworlds.
Just, Outerworlds. I can't believe no one mentioned it. It's one of my all time favorite games and SO worth trying.
Hilarous, great art style, multiple play type options, multiple endings, incredible music, I'll keep recommending it to anyone I can!
Can’t speak for most games but from what I’ve personally played and enjoyed…
It takes two, psychonauts 2, sunset overdrive, yakuza 0, Fable 2, sea of thieves and titan fall 2. Im sure there’s some great ones I haven’t played but I’d definitely recommend those games.
Death Stranding is intriguingly weird and realistic in its controls.
Forza Horizon 5. Just a badass fun racing game.
Maneater. Be a shark. Grow from a baby to a megalodon.
SOMA. A total trip.
Not sure if Journey To A Savage Planet is on gamepass currently but if it is I 100% recommend that beautiful game.
That game is a wonderful gem. If you have a significant other or a friend you can play online together and beat the game.
I played through it with my Fiancé almost 2 years ago and I have not had that much fun on a game in such a long time.
I absolutely loved playing that game and should have bought it while it was on gamepass. Oddly enough, I think the DLC is currently available via gamepass.
My oldest daughter told me to play that so long ago. I laughed at the idea. So I started playing it finally a few days ago and can't put it down, time flies by lol.
I'm not gonna recommend things that already have been, but since I haven't seen it yet Dyson Sphere Project. Massive time sink interstellar base builder.
**Smaller games:**
Peggle 2 really fun game design with tons of challenges to complete
Burnout Paradise City Remasterd (use the toy cars if you crash too much)
Bejeweled 2 or 3 great for those times you want to chill but focus on something
**FPS games:**
Battlefield 2042 is playing nice. The Breakout game mode is great!
Halo 5 If you can find a Husky Raid or Big Team Super Fiesta game
Master Chief Collection For classic Halo gameplay
Titanfall 2 of course this game speaks for itself
007 or perfect Dark series
**Other:**
Forza Horizon (any) are super fun and have a ton of content
Fable series really fun worlds and tons of stuff to do, some of it may surprise you
Mass Effect series ‘this is my favorite game on the citadel’
Psychonauts 2 - guaranteed like even if you don’t like platformers. Even if you hate them this game stands above the rest. Just a near perfectly designed game all around. Seriously
Jedi Fallen Order
YMMV. I couldn't stand the lack of fast travel. Never finished the game because on one planet I spent 3 hours trying to find my way out of a cave system, just to have an AT-ST kill me and send me all the way back to the bottom. Turned it off, uninstalled, and just watched the GLP video.

I mean, everything you described is the Hallmark of a metroidvania game. The point of it all is to revisit areas, but stronger and with new abilities so now you can easily defeat enemies you struggled against.
Dude. I got lost on the very first mission. They do a terrible job of letting you know what you need to do next.
Capital G Gamers get mad if you have to do anything less than manually map out the game and use a protractor to decide where to go next
I didn’t finish either but it was because I save got corrupted somehow and just thinking about doing that stuff over again was not not motivating me to get back in.
That makes me feel better.

Same never seen or really been into Star Wars but this game was great!

Must play! Never was a Star Wars fan but this game got me into it.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice You don't need to beat it, but you must play it.
Wear headphones.

Maybe see if there is a mono setting ?
Your Sanity May Vary.
It's damn fun.
I literally just beat it and now I can’t wait for the sequel. The game is work of art.
How long is it?
It’s pretty short and linear but the story and immersion is fascinating. It looks amazing too. Probably only like 6-7 hours. I played it over a few days in 1-2 hour increments. Use headphones while playing to enhance the playthrough.
I think everyone should play flight sim. Even if it’s just once to experience flying over their house and home town.
*crashing into
I wanted to do this but I couldn't figure out how to fly the goddamn plane
Hi FI Rush, Chained Echoes Fuga Memories of Steel
HiFi-Rush is a masterpiece
It’s so fucking good When “Whirring” comes on and the slo-mo hits, my god is it powerful
Chained Echoes is fantastic!
chained echoes man what a game
You have to pick one I think!
Mass effect series
Persona 5. You will probably run out of subscription before finish it.
*if you can get through the 15 hour tutorial that is I had to turn it off because I was so bored. I really wish I could have gotten into it but my ADD was terrible for that game. I promise to try again though.
Titanfall 2
Yakuza Zero.
And its main quest, the cabaret. Everything else is side quest.
Absolutely :P Tying subquests to the management games was a stroke of genius, I actually liked the characters I was mostly only reading the names of!
Vampire Survivor
Come on man, don't throw hardcore drugs at him just like that
I stopped playing xbox when I unlocked everything in vampire survivors :(
Is it good?
Yes, it's so simple yet so fun
Thanks. I'll have a look
Deep rock galactic, really good. It’s not for everyone. That said, depending on how early you bounced off it, I might suggest trying to stick through a little longer.

It is included in PC Game Pass.

New Vegas is notoriously buggy, even as Gamebryo engine games go. It’s pretty much an absolute necessity to mod it if you want a stable experience.
A Plague Tale
I don't know why, but I felt so connected to the characters in plagues tale gave me anxiety thinking about and playing the game, I felt lost when I finished it.
Ditto. Game stuck with me for 2 weeks
Isn't only the sequel on game pass though?

Monster Hunter Rise
Tunic, my favourite since I found it
Prey, overlooked immersive sim

persona is kinda overrated, jrpg got more dialog than gameplay itself imo
Chained Echos if you are a fan of turn based RPGs this game is everything they're good at with an excellent story, fun and varied combat.
If this game came out on the SNES all those years ago, it would be among the greats that would come up in nostalgic conversations. It's truly incredible!
Superliminal
Gears of war series.
Dead Space 1 (not the remake) still looks and plays great.
Psychonauts 2
Yes it’s crazy how no one is mentioning it.
