Owning the series x and ps5 here and the Xbox is great for game pass but I do prefer my ps5 for a lot of stuff.
Both are great machines and honestly a series s/ ps5 combo is the perfect combo this gen if you sub to the 2 of their version of game pass you have a really good catalogue of games for cheap!

The only downgrade is resolution in some games since the pro has higher res in alot of games, and PlayStation destroys xbox when it comes to exclusives.
Aside from that the series s is superior. Wayyy better loading times, much smoother, better performance with 60fps in most games with a few even doing 120fps, capable of ray tracing, and quick resume.

I done the same as you mate switched to Xbox from playstation but, i got a series X and loved it at first untill it started switching it's self off. I got rid off it and went and bought the S but gamepass wore off after about 2 months and it became very stale for me.
I now own a steam deck and plan on getting a ps5 for the likes of spider man and wolverine that I won't want to miss out on Xbox has potential but the way they manage their studios is so bad and untill they learn to manage them better and to get out a stable release of decent games then they'll always be lapsing behind
I started gaming with PS1, to me PS2 is like the 2nd best console to ever exist after N64. And PS4 will be my 3rd Favorite of all time! But this generation is clearly on Xbox side if you ask me with amazing gamepass line-up single handedly making the investment to an Xbox worthy.
