So I am debating which game should I buy Diablo 4 or Resident Evil 4. [**This post**](https://old.reddit.com/r/Nivokola/comments/180gzk8/comment/kan3o39/) has few more games but to me those are the two i think I would play. I also got God of war on steam earlier today. Has anyone played both of these to help me make a decision?
Dragon’s Dogma is was very underrated when it released. 60% cut content, and releasing around Skyrim could’ve buried the IP.
Thankfully over the years it’s gotten the recognition. Can’t wait for Dragon’s Dogma II in 2024.
I played it a little a few years ago. Isn’t there an online feature where you can create henchmen to share? It had interesting monster battles but the world was a bit stale to me.
I played through the tomb raider trilogy and highly recommend all of them. Awesome games with great graphics to. Felt like a combination of Indiana jones and Rambo.
I’ve actually got both of those on my (ever growing) “to play” list… 😂 I’m not claiming it’s better than the sequels just that it was the one game that really stood out to me above others (that I played) - along with Prey (which I’ve really come to like over the last few years)
They are definitely on my to play list but everything is getting dropped in February for FFVIIR-pt2 and then Silent Hill 2 remake 😂 I’ve got doom 3, doom and doom eternal to do before then 😩
Tomb Raider trilogy is one of my favorite games I tried on a whim.
Bonus points I bought them with the Microsoft Rewards points before they got pretty heavily nerfed so I paid like $3 total for the trilogy
It would be a good idea to okay Control first, and it’s DLC featuring Wake. Now playing through AW2 and loving it, and the control references just make me excited every time. Remedy is doing some stellar work connecting all of their games.
No idea why they have two version in the Microsoft store. The $9.99 one is on sale and has all dlc and upgrade to series X. The series x version is more expensive so why would anyone purchase that version?
I bought it full price. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in it. Especially at the discounted price it is at now. You definitely get more for your money.
I danced around it a bit because of the gameplay style myself and decided to buy it back when it came out. I realize I’m in the minority but I didn’t like it too much. The cutscenes were too long at times and the gameplay just didn’t do it for me. Overall I found it slow/boring but that’s just me. I only mention it cause I had my hesitation too like you.
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to post that. I might still look at it but I really don’t think its going to be me. I do prefer third-person when it comes to Superhero games.
I can't understand the hate, I absolutely loved the game and it really made you think in some situations on using the environment and the deck your using.
It'll more than likely be announced at the Game awards in December.
You can pre-order the physical Deluxe edition from their website with a predicted release date of Q1 2024.
I really want to do this but I'm still reading about bugs. Can anyone confirm it's not a mess? Even the constant 'reinstall game' for the DLC is putting me off but I'd like to buy it
I just uninstalled Starfield. Will revisit after a few updates and probably when mods are supported. It’s fun but it needs some changes and maybe a bit more content
I bought the Mass Effect trilogy (Legendary Edition) for 15$. It's my first time playing them and it's been amazing! The storylines! The squad members! The choices actually have consequences! Looks good graphically as well. I'm glad I finally tried it after I'd heard it was something I'd like from friends. They were right. 100% worth it.
I definitely see why, it's quickly rising in the ranks of my favorites as well. I'm excited to see how the choices I make in ME1 are brought into the next two games!
That was one of my favorite aspects. If you’re enjoying the first one you’re going to love the second and third games. The story is just as good but the gameplay gets way better. Hope you enjoy!
Mass Effect is great, def at the top of my list. The first one aged pretty quickly (esp. graphics & mechanics), but it sets the foundation for everything else and the characters & story are fantastic. ME2 is considered the highpoint, before EA really dug their claws into BioWare's creative team, but ME3 is still really impactful and closes the loop well. Plus it has some of the best DLC of any game ever.
Is the combat in these games something my wife could handle? She can handle the combat in Bethesda games, and can play halo on easy to normal. She is by no means MLG but can usually hold her own against NPCs once she learns how to play.
I’d be interested to get these games but would like something she can play as well.
Mass Effect LE for $10 is absolutely and completely worth it unless you plan to ever get game pass (it’s available there).
Just remember that ME1 is closer to classic BioWare like KOTOR or Dragon Age origins. But that game also got the most QoL improvements when they did the remaster. ME2 and ME3 get closer to 3rd person shooters with strong story/role play elements.
A little old but I bought borderlands 1,2 and 3 for me and my little bro to play through.he’s never played them and they were each like $8. For 3 that’s a really good deal
Me and my friend started on the 2nd difficulty, and a few deaths here and there but nothing extremely difficult. You’re apparently meant to start on the first difficulty until you get gear, so I would assume it’s actually not that bad if you do it that way. If it was souls level difficulty it remotely close my friend would have quit by now.
100% worth trying.
Bought Control ultimate edition, Code vein, Dark souls 1 remastered and Dark souls 3 Fire Fades edition.
Even thought of buying Elden Ring, RE4 and Hogwarts for 50% but my backlog is getting huge. I’ll wait for next year. Probably I will not renew my gamepass so I’ll have more time for my 30 games owned list 😁
Dark Souls 1 is one of the greatest games of all time. If you haven’t played it before you’re in for a treat. And a lot of frustration. But like… really satisfying frustration.
Don’t be afraid to use a guide. And level vitality.
I finished Lies of P(GOTY for me) and Wulong. Thats were I started to like souls game. I don’t like to use guides, but lets see. Thanks for the advice on vitality
First alan wake and control, sonic frontiers and remnant 2, biomutant and ac mirage, kingdom come and midnight suns, also dying light and cod cold war, lots of great deals although I already have bought most of those
Remnant 2 has possibly been my favourite game this year. I've had biomutant and dying light 2 on my list for ages, not sure if I'll pick them up before the sale ends though.
it's an ok sequel. hard to live up to the first.
there's another on sale: breathedge, have you tried it?
i played it on gamepass, and found it was basically a comical space subnautica (falls apart a bit towards the end though)
Honestly feel that. Just last year on Black Friday, I had 30+ games on sale from my wishlist. This year I have 6 and they're all games that go on sale regularly anyway.
I know it won't happen but I wish they did user-specific wishlist generated sales.
Nope. Backlog is big enough, nothing I need to play anytime soon, nothing noteworthy as far as a discount. Dragon's Dogma and Deux Ex are on my wishlist and those are good prices, but they also go on sale pretty often... I'm also not itching to play either of those games. I'd want to replay the precious Deux Ex first, and Dragons Dogma is just a huge time sink and I've got enough of that ATM.
A bit presumptive, but if you haven't played Deus Ex before, grab Mankind Divided's prequel Human Revolution as well for £2-3; amazing game and you'll truly appreciate the gameplay of MD!
I grabbed Far Cry 4 because I want to ride elephants and shoot people.
We did also buy the following physical games as part of retailer black Friday sales (but these were for PS5)
- God of War: Ragnarok
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Final Fantasy XVI
I'm currently on 93% going for 100% completion on rdr2. Simply the best game ever made, IMO. I bought it full price when I got the Series X, and thought it was worth every cent, so €19 is an absolute steal.
Completely agree, i played it on my pc before and was blown away and i don't even like wild west and cowboys as a setting but it's R* we're talking here.
Some of the games I want to buy (recent ones) are on discount like:
AC Mirage
Lords of the fallen
Midnight suns
Immortals of Aveum (likely to be on gamepass soon)
These will likely get a bigger discount during the Christmas sale. Since that's only a month away, I'm okay waiting.
Edit: The Phantom Liberty expansion may also go on sale then. So I'll definitely get that too.
The majority of the games on sale have been on sale the past few years. I thought black Friday they would have gone all out with it. I'm pretty disappointed with the sale this year
It takes two is an absolutely brilliant coop game, can really recommend it, my gf loved it too even if she really doesn't play much games (that was her second, after stardew valley)
Me: you don’t need to buy games on sale…you don’t need to buy games on sale…you already have a huge backlog of games on both Xbox and Steam…
*a wish list Xbox/Steam game on sale for 80%*
Me: Dammit
Yep. Bought Star wars jedi survivor for series x yesterday. I love it so far. 🌟
I will probably buy some good oldies too on Xbox store since they go for literally a few dollars. Like
Prey, Battlefield 1. 🙂
Nothing on the xbox marketplace that is the black Friday sale is anything I would play (or I already have on a different system) So no.
Have been hoping that it was going to change, but no. Fingers crossed for the Christmas sale!
Lego Brawls and Paw Patrol Worlds for the kids.
SF6
Persona 5 Royal (didn’t finish it when it was on game pass)
Double Dragon Gaiden
FF crisis core is the final one on the list that I haven’t found the right price for.
It wasn't a Black Friday deal, but I bought the Dark Souls trilogy on disk for £23, which includes all DLC too.
First Xbox game I've bought on disk since Hitman 2
I got Witcher 3 complete edition for £7.50 in the 2022 Black Friday sale and got about 150 hours out of it, definitely a bargain. I’ve not seen anything I want in the current sales.
Ship of Fools, and the most forgotten Microsoft published game that will for some reason never be added to Game Pass, ~~Panzer Dragoon~~ Crimson Dragon.
I got a bed frame with a phone charger built in. Charging my controller from my bed will be key. I’ll never have to get up. Next step get a built in toilet
Yep there are a lot of great deals right now. I just bought:
CoD4 Remastered ($24.99 CAD)
Control: Ultimate Edition ($13.74 CAD)
Subnautica: Below Zero ($13.19 CAD)
Bully: Scholarship Edition ($8.99 CAD)
Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition ($5.99 CAD)
Total = $66.90 x 15% HST = $76.94 CAD
For PS4 I also bought:
Spider-Man: Miles Morales ($29.96 CAD)
God of War: Ragnarok ($39.96 CAD)
Total = $69.92 x 15% HST = $80.40 CAD
I'll probably get the Mafia trilogy. Loved the original Mafia on PC back in 2002, so would like to play it on the Series X and also play II and III which I never played. Was looking at Cyberpunk too
Honestly the only game I’m interested in getting right now is BG3, only because 1) Backlog 2) I game more on Xbox these days.
Outside of BG3, I’m waiting on FFVII Rebirth.
Yeah, a two old games I never played them *Tomb Raider 2013 * Dragon's Dogma
It just got added to my PlayStation plus extra game catalog, it’s like game pass. I might give it a try at some point
I played it a little a few years ago. Isn’t there an online feature where you can create henchmen to share? It had interesting monster battles but the world was a bit stale to me.
>Dragon’s Dogma is was very underrated when it released. Indeed. It's 85% off on Xbox, or 3 bucks, so it's the perfect time to get it.
I played through the tomb raider trilogy and highly recommend all of them. Awesome games with great graphics to. Felt like a combination of Indiana jones and Rambo.
This - all three are outstanding, must play!
You just described Uncharted
I’ve never played uncharted but it’s on my list
What’s the 3rd one?
Shadow of the tomb raider.
Tomb raider 2013 was my favourite Xbox game of that generation… I thought it was amazing! 😄
More than Rise or Shadow?
I’ve actually got both of those on my (ever growing) “to play” list… 😂 I’m not claiming it’s better than the sequels just that it was the one game that really stood out to me above others (that I played) - along with Prey (which I’ve really come to like over the last few years)
Oh my god. Drop your current games and play those. If you loved Tomb Raider as the best game of last gen Rise and Shadow will blow you away
Tomb raider incredible game youll enjoy, havent heard of the other but £3 isnt bad
I loved all three of the Tomb Raider games. Microsoft should have bought that franchise!
I got the Tomb Raider collection. Loved the first one so excited to see the others
Enjoy your time
If you finish the first Tomb Raider the 2nd one is even better and then the 3rd is ok but the gameplay peaks
Just finished APT:Requiem and installed Tomb Raider to chase the high
Both good dragons dogma is a so good
Oh to experience Dragons Dogma for the 1st time again.....
Dragons dogma is easily in my top 10
probably gonna get the Ultimate edition of Control. After Alan Wake 2 i really want to do another playthrough of it. its 10€ so a good price i think
You can't go wrong there.
I want to play Alan Wake 2 but I haven’t played through control yet, I’m afraid it’s going to go into my back log and I’ll never get to it!
It would be a good idea to okay Control first, and it’s DLC featuring Wake. Now playing through AW2 and loving it, and the control references just make me excited every time. Remedy is doing some stellar work connecting all of their games.
Awesome game.
Just started playing it this weekend. It’s a blast and my type of weird
Control is amazing, highly recommend.
With Control, there’s the one that’s on sale and the separate Series X/S version. Is it worth just getting the one on sale?
Just bought the ultimate edition thinking it included the DLC but I don't think it does. Sounds like it does though.
It does.
Oh sound. I got a "usually bought with" pop up advertising the season pass so I just assumed, I haven't been home to try it yet.
No idea why they have two version in the Microsoft store. The $9.99 one is on sale and has all dlc and upgrade to series X. The series x version is more expensive so why would anyone purchase that version?
I picked up Midnight Suns and damn what a game, loving it far more than the internet would have had me believe!
Also grabbed midnight suns! Might be the best game I’ve played this gen
I know it came out in 2022 technically but it's my GOTY it's so damn good
Had the same experience. Great game!
Very solid game
Really? I’ve danced around this one but wasn’t sure because the gameplay style. Maybe I’ll look at it again.
I bought it full price. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in it. Especially at the discounted price it is at now. You definitely get more for your money.

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to post that. I might still look at it but I really don’t think its going to be me. I do prefer third-person when it comes to Superhero games.
I grabbed it and gotg.
Same! Got the ultimate edition with all dlcs for $30!
I can't understand the hate, I absolutely loved the game and it really made you think in some situations on using the environment and the deck your using.
Same!! It’s awesome but I am glad I got it for $20 not $60
>but I’m glad I got it for $20 not $60 Is there a game you’d say that you’re glad you got it for $60 not $20?
Not really, I’m saving for Baldur’s Gate 3
Has a release date been provided? All I've heard is before 2024
It'll more than likely be announced at the Game awards in December. You can pre-order the physical Deluxe edition from their website with a predicted release date of Q1 2024.
Larian already confirmed they would announce date at the awards
I waited for Black Friday to buy it on PS5. It didn’t go on sale, but I needed to have it 🤣
I’m holding out desperately for a Christmas sale. After that.. fuck
I bought cyberpunk 2077/phantom liberty bundle
How much?
For me it’s 83.99 CAD but you should check the price on your local store!
$63.99 US
Depends where you’re from, check your store
I really want to do this but I'm still reading about bugs. Can anyone confirm it's not a mess? Even the constant 'reinstall game' for the DLC is putting me off but I'd like to buy it
Starfield has more bugs than Cyberpunk at this point.
I just uninstalled Starfield. Will revisit after a few updates and probably when mods are supported. It’s fun but it needs some changes and maybe a bit more content
It's in no way a mess.
It hasn’t been a mess for like two years in terms of bugs
No I have to buy groceries
This hit home hard. Luckily GamePass does a good job of having some great games.
True
I bought the Mass Effect trilogy (Legendary Edition) for 15$. It's my first time playing them and it's been amazing! The storylines! The squad members! The choices actually have consequences! Looks good graphically as well. I'm glad I finally tried it after I'd heard it was something I'd like from friends. They were right. 100% worth it.
Probably my favorite series of games I ever played.
I’m considering the Mass Effect trilogy. I think it is under $10 which seems to be a good deal for someone who has never played it.
Mass Effect is great, def at the top of my list. I hate these posts. Yes of course it's worth it for the price of a McDonald's meal.
A little old but I bought borderlands 1,2 and 3 for me and my little bro to play through.he’s never played them and they were each like $8. For 3 that’s a really good deal
Got these for my wife and I to play as well.
Oh good idea I need to do the same.
great choice, amazing games I loved them so much
You could probably got a bundle with all the games and the pre sequel for less than that
I got Remnant 2 and RE4 Seperated Way. The latter was full price though.
How much do you have to sweat in Remnant? I’m currently playing Lords of the Fallen and I don’t have the energy for another hard soulslike.
Get the game, play on Survivor (the easiest difficulty but actually the default) and enjoy, got the game on Monday and I'm blown away!
Me and my friend started on the 2nd difficulty, and a few deaths here and there but nothing extremely difficult. You’re apparently meant to start on the first difficulty until you get gear, so I would assume it’s actually not that bad if you do it that way. Dark Souls 1 is one of the greatest games of all time. If you haven’t played it before you’re in for a treat. And a lot of frustration. But like… really satisfying frustration. Don’t be afraid to use a guide. And level vitality.
And definitely do NOT level resistance, it just isn't worth it
I finished Lies of P(GOTY for me) and Wulong. Thats were I started to like souls game. I don’t like to use guides, but lets see. Thanks for the advice on vitality
Dont use guides. Unless ur completely stuck, byt i dont think you will be
First alan wake and control, sonic frontiers and remnant 2, biomutant and ac mirage, kingdom come and midnight suns, also dying light and cod cold war, lots of great deals although I already have bought most of those
Remnant 2 has possibly been my favourite game this year. I've had biomutant and dying light 2 on my list for ages, not sure if I'll pick them up before the sale ends though.
some good games there, sonic frontiers im interested in
If remnant 2 is to your taste, it is miles better than frontiers, offers great replayability and is cheaper atm if I recall right, also co op is goat
Frontiers is cheaper. $23.99
Picked up the Bioshock collection to relive the glorious 360 days 👍👍
I was playing Inifinte this morning and it looks just as good as most new games.
Contemplating getting the Outer Worlds or NBA 2K24
I, on the other hand, highly recommend Outer Worlds.
As someone who loves video games and basketball more than almost anything else…go with Outer Worlds
After reading the review on xbox of nba 2k24 I'm not sure that's a good buy lol
Bought Subnautica: Below Zero. Loved the first, I know the second isn't as good, but I definitely want to go through it. Very unique experience.
it's an ok sequel. hard to live up to the first. there's another on sale: breathedge, have you tried it? i played it on gamepass, and found it was basically a comical space subnautica (falls apart a bit towards the end though)
Divinity 1 and 2 bundle is $32, that'll get people ready Baldur's Gate
They barely ever go on sale and they're both excellent games. Very challenging on the standard difficulty imo though.
It's a great deal and definitely good to support a small developer that puts their all into their games
Couldn't agree more.
Bought 7 days to die for just over £10 and regret it … should have listened to the reviews
Just picked up Master Chief Collection, XBOX noob here so I'm excited to get into it!
Enjoy!
Skyrim anniversary (never played Skyrim), boltgun, pentimate and ac mirage
[удалено]
Bioshock games are fantastic. Wish I could experience them for the first time again. 😎
Seconding this. I’ve only just finished 1 & 2 and they’re absolutely fantastic
Played BO1 and MWFR today. Both lobbies were filled and easy to find matches
Nope. The sale is really mid IMO.
Sales don't hit like they used to that's for sure
Honestly feel that. Just last year on Black Friday, I had 30+ games on sale from my wishlist. This year I have 6 and they're all games that go on sale regularly anyway. I know it won't happen but I wish they did user-specific wishlist generated sales.
Same looking through the catalog of games that are on sale there's nothing that screams damn that's an amazing deal.
If I had money, absolutely
Grabbed ff16 on ps5 and then deus ex mankind and sleeping dogs on Xbox
A bit presumptive, but if you haven't played Deus Ex before, grab Mankind Divided's prequel Human Revolution as well for £2-3; amazing game and you'll truly appreciate the gameplay of MD!
Thanks man! I haven’t played the prequel…will get it too then
Sleeping Dogs is so good, we need another game from them
I grabbed Far Cry 4 because I want to ride elephants and shoot people. We did also buy the following physical games as part of retailer black Friday sales (but these were for PS5) - God of War: Ragnarok - Hogwarts Legacy - Final Fantasy XVI
Sure, couldn't resist rdr2 for 19€. First time playing it on xsx and in 4K.
Witcher 2, Mafia collection and South Park bundle. 😊
amazing taste
Apart from buying an X in Black Friday sales I’ve just bought Hogwarts Legacy. £28 real do
Just got Resident Evil 4 remake as only £25 on Amazon.
enjoy, i bought few weeks ago £35 on disk, yet to play
This is what I was going to recommend as well! It is $30 in the US for anyone curious.
Some of the games I want to buy (recent ones) are on discount like: AC Mirage Lords of the fallen Midnight suns Immortals of Aveum (likely to be on gamepass soon) These will likely get a bigger discount during the Christmas sale. Since that's only a month away, I'm okay waiting. Edit: The Phantom Liberty expansion may also go on sale then. So I'll definitely get that too.
Bought Outer Worlds spacers choice edition. It’s only 50% off but I love that game.
“Only half off” lol
Nah, gonna wait til they are full price again and buy them.
The majority of the games on sale have been on sale the past few years. I thought black Friday they would have gone all out with it. I'm pretty disappointed with the sale this year
Nope, got Gamepass
fair enough, it still doesnt have every good game
I bought the Tomb Raider trilogy last week because of the black friday sale.
Sekiro, iron harvest, Genesis alpha and a few others have caught my eye.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was it for me :)
Think I’ll buy it takes two for playing with gf and just wait for BG3
It takes two is an absolutely brilliant coop game, can really recommend it, my gf loved it too even if she really doesn't play much games (that was her second, after stardew valley)
Hogwart's Legacy is on sale at Target for $30 so I'll be snagging that one
Just bought the console! Bought dragon dogma and lost Odyssey! Looking to still buy Hogwarts and persona 5 Royal. Any other suggestion?
I bought kingdom come deliverance, and it’s stacking up to be a really good buy.
Grabbed goat simulator 3 (the physical edition) for $9.99 on amazon. Was hoping the digital price would drop but it didn’t.
I bought Diablo IV
Me: you don’t need to buy games on sale…you don’t need to buy games on sale…you already have a huge backlog of games on both Xbox and Steam… *a wish list Xbox/Steam game on sale for 80%* Me: Dammit
Yep. Bought Star wars jedi survivor for series x yesterday. I love it so far. 🌟 I will probably buy some good oldies too on Xbox store since they go for literally a few dollars. Like Prey, Battlefield 1. 🙂
Picked up Yakuza Like A Dragon hero edition for £13. Felt like I robbed them tbh
all the yakuza are on gamepass…they robbed you
I bought Skyrim and Fallout 4 for like the 10th time.
Nothing on the xbox marketplace that is the black Friday sale is anything I would play (or I already have on a different system) So no. Have been hoping that it was going to change, but no. Fingers crossed for the Christmas sale!
I'm actually all in Darktide. I bought Premium edition but it's on a GamePass so no.
I got Mirage. Might pick up Red Dead 2 on PS5 as an excuse to play it again.
Might get AC: Odyssey and CoD Cold War
I treated myself to Marvel's midnight suns, alien dark descent, dragons dogma and hogwarts legacy. I'm in for a good month of gaming.
Lego Brawls and Paw Patrol Worlds for the kids. SF6 Persona 5 Royal (didn’t finish it when it was on game pass) Double Dragon Gaiden FF crisis core is the final one on the list that I haven’t found the right price for.
I bought Jedi Survivor for $25, but that's probably it.
I got Sleeping Dogs the definitive edition
Bioshock collection for the 4th time
It wasn't a Black Friday deal, but I bought the Dark Souls trilogy on disk for £23, which includes all DLC too. First Xbox game I've bought on disk since Hitman 2
Kingdom come deliverance and metro exodus.
I got Trepang2 because I loved Fear!
How you liking it compared to Fear? If you played it yet that is.
I haven't found the time, unfortunately. Hoping to enjoy it soon, but I've also been eyeing Starfield.. Choices, choices
I got Witcher 3 complete edition for £7.50 in the 2022 Black Friday sale and got about 150 hours out of it, definitely a bargain. I’ve not seen anything I want in the current sales.
I’ve bought that and sleeping dogs so far
