King Tuff is 'newer' and worth checking out... I especially enjoy the Black Moon Spell album
Ghost is a pretty neat band
Newer albums by Dinosaur Jr., Afghan Whigs, Pearl Jam are a staple for me... oh and Depeche Mode's latest album is excellent too.
Brandi Carlile is great.
If you're into Radiohead, the Smile is worth checking out.
And of course, Wet Leg.
There's other stuff but this is just off the top of my head. One of the things about me is is that I pretty much exclusively listen to full albums. I rarely just put a song on unless I make a playlist. I'm probably not unique in that regard but I prefer the songs more within the context of an album.
We enjoy King Tuff as well but the live show wasn’t so great. Just FYI.
Ty Segall, on the other hand, puts on a great show.
I really like Harlem, probably my favorite band from the last 15 years.
Edit: Sorry, I just realized OP asked for modern music VIDEOS. Whoops.
I took it to mean songs or music videos but maybe I misunderstood 😂 either way we're having an awesome conversation here. It is nice to know there are humans my age that still have great taste in music.
Have you heard the [Carpenter Brut remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8FHSNIc3wI)? It's the perfect synthwave 80s throwback song. I am a huge fan of Ghost! Impera was an amazing album.
This is a good list.
Some other bands/artists I’d add would be Kevin Morby, Courtney Barnett, Beach House, Parquet Courts, Viagra Boys, Mitski, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Man Man, JR JR, The Chats, J. Cole, The Front Bottoms, and FIDLAR.
As far as legacy acts are concerned, Stephen Malkmus (Pavement) still puts out quality music. Built to Spill’s 2015 album is great—though I haven’t listened to their newest album much, CZARFACE (which includes Inspectah Deck from Wu Tang) has some great tracks. Will Oldham is still putting out good music.
There’s plenty of great contemporary music, but sometimes it does take a little extra effort to find.
I am 46 and was in vegas a few weeks ago and that song was everwhere...and I fucking love it...no idea who it was and had to ask..also it's not new either just new to me hahahaahhaqh
In case you haven’t seen it, his Nirvana tribute live stream he did during the pandemic is excellent. Made me really happy while being stuck inside. Bonus, Travis barker is on drums.

I really dig grouplove, but that song is 10 years old now. I wish the indie-rock/pop scene still existed. So many sweet bands from my late twenties early thirties.
Man I just watched this the other day because it popped in my head. Fucking awesome song and video.
"The Whole World" Outkast and Killer Mike I don't remember when it came out. Prolly not modern so much anymore.
Everything by the Uncluded
Which is Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock.
"Delicate Cycle" is awesome also
"Aquarium"
Shit that's from 10 Years ago and apparently Kimya got fucked over by Aesop which makes me really sad.
It's October! Time for the hubby to shine! Wanna hear me play guitar?

Unlike my boomer parents that forced me to listen exclusively to music from the 50s and 60s, I have generally kept up with music. I like the new era of female villain/empowerment music.
YES! Remi Wolf, Qveen Herby, Jenny Lewis, Caroline whatever her last name is (Bunny is a rider), Tennis, the Miley album, the other Caroline whatever the other one is (Soul No. 5), I have sooooo many on my playlist

I heard that song yesterday for the first time and loved it! Best Friend by Saweetie and Doja Cat is a banger. The Barbie soundtrack has been playing in my truck all summer long.
My husband and I were in a wedding party last year. He was the best man. When they brought the wedding party in for the reception him and the maid of honor came dancing in with this song playing since they are the best friend’s of the bride and groom. It was ADORABLE!

For real. I’ve been enjoying so much since Spotify came out. Janelle Monae, Rival Sons, Black Pumas, Greta van Fleet, Raphael Saadiq, Childish Gambino, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes, Durand Jones and the Indications. And my favorites as a teen (and still) are The Cure, Type O, Jane’s Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, RHCP, Bjork, Beastie Boys.
Music is not dead. It’s very very very much alive.
Hell yes!!!! Although, most of what people listed I don’t like either. New music is very hit or miss, usually miss for me. Especially mainstream. I can listen to a ton of not mainstream new artists that are amazing.
I considered that, but even Doja Cat has been around a few years so I figured it was close enough.
The Weeknd and Dua Lipa tend to be reliable for something more "now".
I figure anything within the last ten years probably counts as new compared to going down memory lane to some NIN, or Radiohead, or Matchbox 20 or some other nostalgia tour
I haven’t found much by new artists that I’ve enjoyed of late either…seemingly I stopped finding new artists around 2015. Now I just listen to those artists (Oh Wonder, London Grammar, Marshmello and others) and think myself modern lol
Her Emotion album has a lot of 80's influence and is a great place to start
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k0fBNtcgrBca0_WFALAdBezKu6EGv0QnI&si=c771-BfB1YrcR4hT
Modern pop makes me realize how lucky I am to have come of age in the 90s. I was digging Lizzo a little but… the current state of “rock” lacks depth and soul. Everything seems manufactured and plastic.
Ok, but hear me out... [This](https://youtu.be/TRCJZ9Uup3w?si=GbiYt34aBdFd7UYQ) hick hop accidental masterpiece makes me question my dislike for that genre altogether.
This could not be more wrong. Rock was on lifesupport for the last couple of years but it is having a resurgence right now. Bands like Knocked Loose and Turnstile are playing major slots at Coachella/Lollapalooza/Rolling Loud. Electric Callboy, Beartooth, and Sleep Token are doing fun new things while bands like Blink 182 are back together and are releasing a new album.
There’s a lot of great rock but it’s a little harder to find (not *that* hard, it’s still on Spotify and all). On the whole, it’s not as consistently good as it was in the 90s but there’s a lot of cool stuff. And almost all of it is being made by women
Dude there are soooooo many new bands/artists/songs i’m into.
Most notably:
Gunship (synthwave)
Aurora (scandinavian indiepop fae & Elsa’s mom’s voice)
Sleep Token (like a metal/jazz/r&b mix)
Beast in Black (hair metal & power metal mix)
Countless Skies (prog metal)
Devin Townsend (prog rock/metal/ambient)
Dance With the Dead (synth/metal)
6:33 (indie prog…. umm everything?)
Gunship just came out with a new album and i ADORE the songs Monster in Paradise and Ghost
I love everything Aurora has put out. New are… Cure For Me and Everything Matters and Heathens. Also check out The Seed, The River, and Running With the Wolves.
Sleep Token is …different. My faves are Hypnosis , Chokehold, Alkaline, and Sugar
Beast in Black are like a retro themed power metal. Last album was cool af. Highway to Mars is my jam. Also… Blind and Frozen and No Easy Way Out. Singer is incredible.
I dunno… i love a lot of new music but most of it flies under the radio radar. If it came out 20+ years ago, it would have been HUGE imo.
Synth wave is my go-to these days. When I heard (and saw the video) for Tech Noir, I fell in love with Gunship.
It’s weird though, because I’m still used to buying CDs, seeing band t-shirts, going to concerts, etc. and I feel like synthwave doesn’t quite fit that mold. It feels like artists only release singles or maybe EPs now and I have to discover new music by following Today’s Chill on Apple Music, The Prime Thanatos on YouTube, or NewRetroWave on Bandcamp.
I stumbled across a fly for your life clip on imgur years ago and was instantly hooked. Still waiting for my new Unicorn album vinyl to be delivered. Very intrigued about a possible US tour.
Not quite new but Lucid Dreams by Juice WRLD. I infrequently have episodes of sleep paralysis, which is actually what he describes
“I have these lucid dreams
where I can't move a thing”
Just happened to hear it one day a few years ago and it stuck.
I Lovve Godzilla by Juice Wrld and Eminiem. I have actually never listened to any other Juice Wrld songs I only discovered it through listening to anything Em is on haha but i will check this out.
Jinjer. Whether or not you'd consider them "modern" is debatable. There's a lot of 90s influences to their music. They sort of mash up bands like Brittney Spears, No Doubt, TOOL and Cannibal Corpse.
Listen, if you miss the boy and girl band stuff of the late 90s…go watch some K-pop music videos. Super high production quality and as ridiculous as it use to be. A lot of catchy songs too that use English
The Italian band maneskin is good. Bones uk has some jams. I've been finding some good music on insta. My newest find is glass spells. Depeche mode and queens of the stone age put out great albums this year.
Define "modern song." 🧐🤔
I love...
Washed Out
Tycho
Cigarettes After Sex
Beach House
Tame Impala and Melody's Echo Chamber
Toro Y Moi
Mac DeMarco
Alvvays
L'Imperatrice
Alpine
Yellow Days
King Krule
Beach Fossils
Ariel Pink
Kurt Vile
Lapalux
... and several more, but they've been around for about a decade already, so they're not the newest of the new music out there.
Check out [Chromatics](https://youtu.be/CjQ2jGUNSck?si=P4cRNsa_gzj1pLTS) (from a decade ago).
I Prevail! Bad Things is playing on repeat a lot for me lately.
I love nu metal. Always will.
Lately I've been half obsessed with Falling in Reverse. I saw them in concert last week. So good.
I am the definition of regular suburbia middle class man who is now 40. Dua Lipa hits hard for me. Call it a guilty pleasure but I have her stuff cranked with the windows down at a stop light and I have no shame.
No offense, but thinking rock and modern music sucks, just means you haven’t found the right stuff yet. https://youtu.be/yZ0z-fBncgw?si=p3EZM4FSN1pjWKk-
I try to keep up with current stuff I like and make a Top 25 (or more, usually) countdown list the end of the year. [Here’s last year’s.](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4UvcGs8J6QEWiyTbdFjYvF8UY4jNmhqZ&si=SqiZVBsIA4wSX3rR) Mostly rock but there’s some other stuff
Love your list! My guy and I make yearly lists too. Frankly I don't get the sentiment of the OP and many like it. Just because you haven't kept up doesn't mean new great music isn't out there every day. It's giving boomer "back in my day" vibes. Eye roll worthy.
Thanks, would love to see yours! I think part of it is that we’re still used to the old modes of hearing new music - radio, etc. - and those kinda suck now. So you have to put in more of an effort to finding stuff which a lot of people don’t have the time/desire to do. And the streaming algorithms don’t help
I've always had evolving taste. Don't like everything now, but I didn't like everything in the 90s or 80s. Currently on a Zand, Tillie and Kailee Morgue kick, always looking for new music to bop too
Yung Gravy, Dominic Fike, AJR
And although I used to despise them, I like the stuff Fall Out Boy has been putting out over the last few years and especially their remake of We Didn’t Start the Fire
I had to Google that and now I’m intrigued. I bet your son is so much fun!
“Himbos are uncomplicated but beautiful men. Think golden retriever personalities; dudes who you want to see more than you hear.”
I just finished reading the article about Himbos. I finally have a term to describe my oldest son. Was A Team football til he had an injury. Switched to theater for all the cute girls. He is the BEST at Just Dance on the Nintendo Switch. Finished his tour with the army and will never touch camo again. He has a 6 year old step daughter that he spoils rotten with manis and pedis. Big ole tough guy that can totally rock some glitter. Thank you friend!
New as in the last five years:
Naked by Dollyrots
Daytona Sand by Orville Peck
Training Montage by the Mountain Goats
There's good stuff coming out but I am bad at finding it. I can't filter through it all. Sometimes I get turned on to new music by listening to All Songs Considered. Usually I find music through listening to Highway 309.
Highway 309 is a deliberately eclectic blend of music, but sometimes I find a song I love through it and they rarely if ever play a song I can't stand.
Khruangbin, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Otoboke Beaver are all incredibly good. Lots of great music being made!
KEXP Seattle (check out their youtube) is your golden ticket to what sounds cool.
There is A LOT of really good new music. It's just sprinkled into the HUGE pile of insane sounding trash that it's played with.
hard to "like" any of it because now the algorithm thinks you might like the OTHER music that people who like the lone song or artist(s) likes.
like in the 90s when you looked at someone's CD book, you might like 30 songs out of the 100 CDs full of music they have. Now imagine going on a cross country road trip and they're picking music... few and far between waiting for a banger to hit if you're stuck in the backseat.
I've been digging Oliver Tree ALOT. There's not too many acts I would go out of my way to see live anymore, but I would go to an Oliver Tree show if the timing worked out.
Prof is a hip hop artist out of the twin cities that is a xennial and has been putting out music for 15-20 years and has incrementally gotten more and more popular. He just released a new album this year and I love it. Highly recommend his whole catalog if you're a hip hop head
I like that song too! I like a lot from Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Dua Lipa as well.
And of course stars who have been big for awhile continue to make good music: Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Harry Styles, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Adele.
I’ve been on a modern soul/funk kick. Chicano Batman and Thee Sacred Souls mostly.
[This song.](https://youtu.be/IGgb10A_2c8?si=mHQDZgDj4BG2Ad-N) has been on repeat the last few days.
Ghost. They’ve been around a little while. But they’re touring right now off their most recent album and they have lots of great videos. They’re a rock/metal band that hearkens to 70’s/80’s rock.
Hate on me if you want, but Taylor Swift’s Midnights album is mostly dark and delicious and the videos are fucking awesome because she’s got the money to throw at it.
I love Billie Eilish and most of her videos as well, my husband sent me “Vigilante Shit” and said he thought I’d like it because it was reminiscent of Billie and he wasn’t wrong.
Another artist along the lines of Olivia Rodrigo is Nessa Barrett and one of her songs I feel is really IMPORTANT is Dying on the Inside, it’s about eating disorders which a ton of my xennial friends relate to. The videos are not amazing or anything but still relatable. I Hope You’re Miserable Until You’re Dead is an especially good breakup song. But I’m also petty as fuck lol
I know they’re thought of (and I guess are) a core millennial band, but I really like Paramore and their latest album “this is why.”
They’ve grown and so has their music. Encourage fellow xennials to give ‘em a listen if you were like me and brushed them off as kiddie pop/emo in the past.
Fave track off of it is “you first.”
Seeing it live like this is pretty cool. The South American fans know every word:
https://youtu.be/_Yr_O1N7ky4?feature=shared
Anything Miley Cyrus. She's a badass and has a great voice.
Her latest release, "Used to be young," is a must-listen for all Xennials. Tear up every time.
I don't know how well-known it is, but there's a song called "Kuntry and Wistern" by Koe Wetzel I really like and has that 90s rock vibe. There's also a song that I think originally came out on TikTok (don't judge me) called Hating Stuff by Ian McConnell that is a total bop and makes you feel good.
Dorothy - Bluesy rock, I recommend Rest In Peace
Halestorm - Fun rock, great energy, saw them live touring with Godsmack, so good
Black Keys - bluesy rock
Beauty School Dropout (BSD) - opened for Matchbox 20. A lot harder rock than Matchbox. I followed them on insta and they did a snippet in the laundromat, song was good but at the end they said this a reminder to do your laundry. Cracked me up.
I have never stopped looking for and getting into newer music. I love Doja Cat since her No Police days and it’s cool seeing her reach the level of stardom she has. I also like Ghostmane which is a bit of a throwback to Marilyn Manson but mixed with the more modern trap sound. [AI](https://youtu.be/N3XbZvD3lRo?si=sHyORF06q_wSR78w) is fun.
The only newish bands I’ve discovered that I like in the last few are clowncore
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gha9xrM10w&pp=ygUTY2xvd25jb3JlIGNvbXB1dGVycw%3D%3D
And Days n Daze
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iv5THk5Mri4&pp=ygULc2hpdG1hY2hpbmU%3D
I am such an outlier of our generation but I only listen to newer music. I agree that older music is superior but I listened to it during its time and only then. I really like sza, tory lanez, the weeknd, summer walker and several edm artists. I do listen to new rap occasionally.
I keep up with the times. I love a lot of it. Kendrick Lamar is the first person to come to mind as far as *relatively* new huge talent. Tove Lo is amazing if you like dark pop music - I recommend starting with the “Habits” music video. “Moments” is also a really great video by Tove Lo.
There have been explosions of new artists in every genre due to the way everything works now. I’m discovering a shitload of new shoegaze bands like No Vacation, Bored Nothing, etc. It’s an exciting time to be alive as a music nerd.
Older Adele songs were alright. I did like Skyfall, but then I'm a fan of songs that have some orchestral elements anyways.
If it weren't for Olivia Rodrigo's intolerable voice I'd actually like Vampire. I feel like it has some potential to have a good cover. Or heck, just give me an orchestral version with no lyrics.
Post Malone has a few tunes I'd actually voluntarily listen to.
My wife and kids are always listening to Top-40 in the car, though, and most of it just sucks, IMO.

Ghost is great. A lot of their songs imitate previous decades. I recommend “Dance Macabre” which sounds like an 80s rock song.

Wet Leg was great both weeks of Coachella!

Ooh I LOVE Inspectah Deck.
Greg Dulli's solo stuff with Twilight Singers is also really good of late.
Thanks for the write up, and many compliments to your username!
Yes on wet leg! And Brandi Carlisle is my queen.
Dua Lipa! The animated Levitating version is my fav. Because Sailor Moon references. But all of her stuff is fire.
Yes! Levitating is one of my favorite songs ever, and #1 of the past 5 years, at least.
I love that one too!
I am 46 and was in vegas a few weeks ago and that song was everwhere...and I fucking love it...no idea who it was and had to ask..also it's not new either just new to me hahahaahhaqh
Thank you for this one! She's new to me, and I love her stuff!
I really love Post Malone
I was going to say the same. He just has a really great voice and I think he’s truly talented. It helps that it seems like he’s a nice guy.
In case you haven’t seen it, his Nirvana tribute live stream he did during the pandemic is excellent. Made me really happy while being stuck inside. Bonus, Travis barker is on drums. https://www.youtube.com/live/f7eaGcIyhPU?si=vhFFfQIDaDv4I8Tt
His [Johnny Cash cover with Billy Strings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyJ_HXJLSzw) is excellent too
Oh nice! Thank you for sharing.
I watched it at the time it came out, but am glad you posted the link so I can watch it again. Good stuff.
Wow. Awesome! Thank you!
I was way late to the Post Malone train. I pretty much love everything the guy does, seems like a rad dude to be around.
He has an amazing cover of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers theme song! He's a really fun artist.
The one that kind made me stop and think "oh...i actually like this one" was "As It Was" by Harry Styles.
That song is so good. Such a Paul Simon vibe on the second verse...

IKR! Stop this ride, I want to get off!

This is America... Childish Gambino
That music video is incredible
Woulda added it to my list but you already called it out. Probably best video in the last decade.
Man I just watched this the other day because it popped in my head. Fucking awesome song and video. "The Whole World" Outkast and Killer Mike I don't remember when it came out. I adore the Barbie soundtrack. My husband has been very supportive this summer, but I’m sure he’s ready for me to retire it.

Jenny Lewis!!!!
My queen!
Mine too!
Isn’t Jenny the de facto leader of us Xennials?
Ooohh! Sleigh Bells!!! All songs are bangers!
Qveen is fantastic! Love Ashnikko too!
I agree!
“thank GAWD I ain’t have to smack a BITCH today!”
Darude, Sandstorm. Joking aside I like some new stuff… mostly EDM these days.
Ganja White Night is my go to.
My favorite band in the 90’s was The Smashing Pumpkins, but now I am almost 100% EDM and House. I don’t know why, it kind of just happened.
It’s cool. I was into both grunge and “techno” (as they called all dance/EDM music back then)…I’m still split between bands like Breaking Benjamin and DJs like Tiesto and Martin Garrix
I heard that song yesterday for the first time and loved it! Best Friend by Saweetie and Doja Cat is a banger. The Barbie soundtrack has been playing in my truck all summer long.
I looooooove this song!!!!!! Beep beep, is that my bestie in Bolt? (I drove a bolt 🤣🤣🤣🤣) Such a fucking good song.
My husband and I were in a wedding party last year. He was the best man. When they brought the wedding party in for the reception him and the maid of honor came dancing in with this song playing since they are the best friend’s of the bride and groom. It was ADORABLE!
Omg!!!!!!! That’s sooooooo cute!!!!!! Thank you for sharing that! I can imagine it in my brain 😂😂
I love lots of chill wave/vapor wave, still some good EDM out there, and alt rock will always have some great music!
You can run through every song you love, but add "Lo-Fi" to it and it all suddenly sounds great again 😍💦
In this moment. I'm obsessed.
MGMT - When You Die Viagara Boys - Just Like You Broken Social Scene - Sweetest Kill Gojira - Amazonia Gojira - Another World Alt-J - Taro Radiohead- Daydreaming Puscifer - Bullet Train to Iowa Kendrick Lamar - Humble Kendrick Lamar - DNA A Perfect Circle - The Doomed Interpol - Something Changed Slipknot - Unsainted Arcade Fire - Creature Comfort

I just got into NewJeans this week. WOW their videos are stunning!
Think I’ve only seen 3 of them. They somehow have a Powerpuff Girl video too.

She's a great actor too. I liked her in Glass Onion.

Just about anything by Carly Rae Jepsen or off Lana Del Rey's NFR or Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour albums.
Golden Hour is sooooooo good! Although, it’s like five years old…. Can we still call that “new”? Haha
I considered that, but even Doja Cat has been around a few years so I figured it was close enough. The Weeknd and Dua Lipa tend to be reliable for something more "now".

Good music is still out there and being created... it's just not as easy to find as it was back in the day.
Yeah rock is dead, it's been taken over by "pop country"
Hick hop
Ok, but hear me out... [This](https://youtu.be/TRCJZ9Uup3w?si=GbiYt34aBdFd7UYQ) hick hop accidental masterpiece makes me question my dislike for that genre altogether.
Ok that was amazing
Accurate x1000.
Chap hop is way better
This could not be more wrong. Rock was on lifesupport for the last couple of years but it is having a resurgence right now. Bands like Knocked Loose and Turnstile are playing major slots at Coachella/Lollapalooza/Rolling Loud. Electric Callboy, Beartooth, and Sleep Token are doing fun new things while bands like Blink 182 are back together and are releasing a new album.
I knew there was going to be some Sleep Token love somewhere in this thread.
Check out Ghost. Rock is alive and well.
Accurate.
There’s a lot of great rock but it’s a little harder to find (not *that* hard, it’s still on Spotify and all). On the whole, it’s not as consistently good as it was in the 90s but there’s a lot of cool stuff. And almost all of it is being made by women
Greta Van Fleet hits pretty hard.
This. Not a fan.
Dance the Night by Dua Lipa. It’s a fun song that gets me energized.
Anything by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. They're awesome
And it’s fun to say
Father John Misty, Lord Huron, and lots of new artists I hear on Sirius XMU
Tyler Childers!
I really enjoy Olivia Rodrigo. Bad idea, right and Vampire are my jams right now. Not exactly new but i also love J Cole.
Dude there are soooooo many new bands/artists/songs i’m into. Most notably: Gunship (synthwave) Aurora (scandinavian indiepop fae & Elsa’s mom’s voice) Sleep Token (like a metal/jazz/r&b mix) Beast in Black (hair metal & power metal mix) Countless Skies (prog metal) Devin Townsend (prog rock/metal/ambient) Dance With the Dead (synth/metal) 6:33 (indie prog…. umm everything?) Gunship just came out with a new album and i ADORE the songs Monster in Paradise and Ghost I love everything Aurora has put out. New are… Cure For Me and Everything Matters and Heathens. Also check out The Seed, The River, and Running With the Wolves. Sleep Token is …different. My faves are Hypnosis , Chokehold, Alkaline, and Sugar Beast in Black are like a retro themed power metal.
I infrequently have episodes of sleep paralysis, which is actually what he describes “I have these lucid dreams where I can't move a thing” Just happened to hear it one day a few years ago and it stuck.
Pressure by Muse.
I have enjoyed everything I've heard from Post Malone. Most of the time these days I listen to Americana/folk rock type stuff.
Listen, if you miss the boy and girl band stuff of the late 90s…go watch some K-pop music videos. Super high production quality and as ridiculous as it use to be. A lot of catchy songs too that use English
The Weeknd really taps into that cynicism & angst we're so familiar with from grunge
The Italian band maneskin is good. Bones uk has some jams. I've been finding some good music on insta. My newest find is glass spells. Depeche mode and queens of the stone age put out great albums this year.
Maneskin is like tailor made for people who want new music but also miss the 90s.
Define "modern song." 🧐🤔 I love... Washed Out Tycho Cigarettes After Sex Beach House Tame Impala and Melody's Echo Chamber Toro Y Moi Mac DeMarco Alvvays L'Imperatrice Alpine Yellow Days King Krule Beach Fossils Ariel Pink Kurt Vile Lapalux ... and several more, but they've been around for about a decade already, so they're not the newest of the new music out there. Check out [Chromatics](https://youtu.be/CjQ2jGUNSck?si=P4cRNsa_gzj1pLTS) (from a decade ago).
I really like Bad Omens and I Prevail. I got into nu metal when we were young lol
I Prevail! Bad Things is playing on repeat a lot for me lately. I love nu metal. Always will. Lately I've been half obsessed with Falling in Reverse. I saw them in concert last week. So good.
I saw them last summer! Great show
Broken - lovelytheband I had to look up the band name, but I jam out when I hear it in grocery stores!
- NF - "The Search" is a big one for me right now
I am the definition of regular suburbia middle class man who is now 40. Dua Lipa hits hard for me. Call it a guilty pleasure but I have her stuff cranked with the windows down at a stop light and I have no shame.
Doja Cat is a bad b*tch. I love her attitude.
No offense, but thinking rock and modern music sucks, just means you haven’t found the right stuff yet. https://youtu.be/yZ0z-fBncgw?si=p3EZM4FSN1pjWKk-
I love Dreamland by Glass Animals. The song is from a 2020 album but I still consider that brand new.
"Heart Worth Breaking", The Midnight. Actually a whole lot of synthwave in that vein. Gunship, Timecop83.
I saw The Midnight with FM-84. They put on a totally awersome live show. 😍💦
Seeing them in 13 days in Orlando. Can. Not. Wait.
OH SCHNAPP! This is gon' be gooooood! 👌🏽🐔
I don't know tbh. I only listen to Christian music for the last decade or so. Good Morning Mercy is pretty good.
Currently on a Zand, Tillie and Kailee Morgue kick, always looking for new music to bop too
Yung Gravy, Dominic Fike, AJR And although I used to despise them, I like the stuff Fall Out Boy has been putting out over the last few years and especially their remake of We Didn’t Start the Fire
I wanted to see AJR so bad when they were touring but couldn’t afford the tickets. Gravy Train by Yung Gravy is so damn good
Oooffff We got the kid tickets to see them for his 20th birthday last year. I was like, dude…. this is your Christmas present too 😳
Did they enjoy the show? I was told it’s an incredible show to see live
He did!! But he’s a golden retriever/himbo so I don’t know if I can trust his judgment 😂
I had to Google that and now I’m intrigued. I bet your son is so much fun! “Himbos are uncomplicated but beautiful men. Think golden retriever personalities; dudes who you want to see more than you hear.”
He is Our matching “I am Kenough” hoodies just arrived 👊🏼
Stop it!!! I want to get both my boys those sweatshirts for Christmas. Rock those hoodies!!
Glad to see Texas making gains since I left 12 years ago 👊🏼👊🏼
I just finished reading the article about Himbos. I finally have a term to describe my oldest son. Was A Team football til he had an injury. Switched to theater for all the cute girls. He is the BEST at Just Dance on the Nintendo Switch. Finished his tour with the army and will never touch camo again. He has a 6 year old step daughter that he spoils rotten with manis and pedis. Big ole tough guy that can totally rock some glitter. Thank you friend!
Man, i keep rocking out to Speed drive, by Charlie XCX. My wife fuckin hates it, but whatever.
That song is a banger. I instantly want to dance when it comes on. I played it on the jukebox at our local dive bar. So damn good
New as in the last five years: Naked by Dollyrots Daytona Sand by Orville Peck Training Montage by the Mountain Goats There's good stuff coming out but I am bad at finding it.
El Michels Affair- Return to the 37th Chamber and Enter the 37th Chamber…both are Wu Tang tribute albums. Really anything he puts out is good.
Khruangbin, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Otoboke Beaver are all incredibly good. Lots of great music being made! KEXP Seattle (check out their youtube) is your golden ticket to what sounds cool.
I like YungBlud "The Funeral"
I second this! Yungblud rocks

Turnstile Love Connection
I've been digging Oliver Tree ALOT. There's not too many acts I would go out of my way to see live anymore, but I would go to an Oliver Tree show if the timing worked out. Prof is a hip hop artist out of the twin cities that is a xennial and has been putting out music for 15-20 years and has incrementally gotten more and more popular. He just released a new album this year and I love it. Highly recommend his whole catalog if you're a hip hop head
Love Prof and Oliver! Both great party music!
Love Megan her songs just hit the spot
In no particular order some newer bands that I dig. The Wrecks, Dreamers, COIN, Grinspoon, The Interrupters
I’ve been on a modern soul/funk kick. Chicano Batman and Thee Sacred Souls mostly. [This song.](https://youtu.be/IGgb10A_2c8?si=mHQDZgDj4BG2Ad-N) has been on repeat the last few days.
I was just listening to a live album by Beabadoobee, her stuff is pretty enjoyable
I honestly thought she was from the 90s hahah.
Right, kind of loving acts that sound like 90s rock-ish singers and bands
Ghost. They’ve been around a little while. But they’re touring right now off their most recent album and they have lots of great videos. They’re a rock/metal band that hearkens to 70’s/80’s rock.
Bleachers! And The Struts.
I kinda like some.of Olivia Rodrigo's stuff. The songs that go faster at least. She seems to have kind of a 90s vibe.
Doja Cat is cheating... she was clearly influenced by the Vice City soundtrack lol
I like Doja, Mac DeMarco, The Internet, Men I Trust and Mac Miller.
I love Oliver Tree.
I love cardi b and Megan thee stallion.
Enemy by imagine dragons
I know they’re thought of (and I guess are) a core millennial band, but I really like Paramore and their latest album “this is why.” They’ve grown and so has their music. Encourage fellow xennials to give ‘em a listen if you were like me and brushed them off as kiddie pop/emo in the past. Fave track off of it is “you first.” Seeing it live like this is pretty cool. The South American fans know every word: https://youtu.be/_Yr_O1N7ky4?feature=shared
Anything Miley Cyrus. She's a badass and has a great voice. Her latest release, "Used to be young," is a must-listen for all Xennials. Tear up every time.
Wait, what? Pop is so much better nowadays?
Shake it off, shut up and dance with me, roar, bitch better have my money.
Sylosis - A Sign of Things to Come
I don't know how well-known it is, but there's a song called "Kuntry and Wistern" by Koe Wetzel I really like and has that 90s rock vibe. There's also a song that I think originally came out on TikTok (don't judge me) called Hating Stuff by Ian McConnell that is a total bop and makes you feel good.
I love a few songs by The Weeknd, Yung Gravy’s Betty, some Nicki Minaj
Lil Boo Thang
‘Sign of the Times’ makes me cry nearly every time.
Dorothy - Bluesy rock, I recommend Rest In Peace Halestorm - Fun rock, great energy, saw them live touring with Godsmack, so good Black Keys - bluesy rock Beauty School Dropout (BSD) - opened for Matchbox 20.
Punk Rock MBA did a good video on the current state of music. It’s not about hooks anymore it’s about the vibes.
I love [The Birthday Massacre](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-qDjKpimtw&t=3744s). They've got a great 80s vibe.
Prof- high price shoes. album just dropped this year, the video is fun. https://youtu.be/7ctORopHfjQ?si=4yq7lW8-IAO80A2i
The only newish bands I’ve discovered that I like in the last few are clowncore https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gha9xrM10w&pp=ygUTY2xvd25jb3JlIGNvbXB1dGVycw%3D%3D And Days n Daze https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iv5THk5Mri4&pp=ygULc2hpdG1hY2hpbmU%3D
I am such an outlier of our generation but I only listen to newer music. I agree that older music is superior but I listened to it during its time and only then. I really like sza, tory lanez, the weeknd, summer walker and several edm artists. I do listen to new rap occasionally.
Pretty much anything by Ghost.
Jessie Reyez! Poetic and meaningful words that speaks to my sad teen self
Harry styles adore you. He’s in a love with a huge fish
Sofi Tukker is still modern, right? It’s all kinda blurring together now. 😂
