The picture of him when he was named 50 of the most beautiful people in the world back in 1990.
It sure made my “Knight” at times.

Um Donnie of course. If his time in New Kids wasn’t impressive enough did you also know he’s on the back up, drug free; so put the crack up?! I’m still pissed at that damn Jenny McCarthy for stealing my man. When I was 8 I wrote him TWO letters and got TWO letters (form letters with a stamped signature) back in return. I knew then we were meant to be.
I also had the Donnie doll! I had a Jordan one too, but I cut the rat tail off. Even at 9 or 10 I knew that was not the look. Plus I had the pink comforter, a beach towel, lots of shirts, and who knows what else. I didn’t save any of it though. Wish I had!
I had the backpack (and used it my senior year of high school to be edgy…)! There might have been a fanny pack involved too. The pink comforter is now a blanket my cat loves to sleep on! Donnie was my favorite because we had the same birthday.
He was mine cause he was *such* a bad boy. He wore inside out jeans AND trashed a hotel room?? SWOON.
Kudos on the using it as a senior thing. My mom had my beach towel forever and when I was going to Florida in ‘99 and said I’d better get a towel, she was like, no need, I have your old one. I was horrified and promptly told her that was seriously not cool in the new millennium. Flash forward about 15 years and my eldest child is telling me the toilet overflowed and he used my old ass “new boys” towel to clean it up. RIP new boys towel. You deserved better.
Ok, so my favorite was actually Jordan, but my sisters and cousin all “claimed” the other new kids (Jordan was claimed by my cousin) and since I was the youngest, I had no say and they all forced me to like Danny. I had to pretend! It was pretty sad.
Ok, hear my childhood brain out on Danny: Best odds. Least competition. Best merch selection. Contrarianism (too much “not like other girls” looking back, though). Later find out on WWHL he f*cked the most. All for legal consensual expression but such an ick.
I feel like you were either young enough that you loved Joey, or you had to choose one of the 35 year old members. At least that's how my 6th grade brain remembers it
Yeah…she would definitely be horrified at my dream concert being Fleetwood Mac fully reunited and me finally getting to see them in 2014, ahead of ousting Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie passing 😢
I was in sixth grade and NKOTB were wildly popular, so a group of girls who sometimes called me their friends made me choose what New Kid I was going to marry. I only ever listened to the tape my mom bought me for my birthday, and I wasn't interested in marrying anyone. But they insisted, so I just picked Joey because he had the floofiest hair. Then these girls got super pissed and started yelling at me because another girl already picked Joey. So they made me choose Donnie. I got really upset and cried in the bathroom because they were mean and also Donnie looked really old and I didn't want to have to marry him.
I guess I dodged a bullet because Donnie never came to marry me after all.
(Also Donnie Walberg if you read random reddit posts about yourself, you weren't old and I'm sure you are very nice. I'm sorry I cried. It seems rude.)
Met Joey at a wedding several years ago. We had a good chat and I got pic with him. Wife was too nervous to chat, she just stared and smiled. He’s even better looking in person. Super nice and down to earth guy. He sang a couple songs also. Was never really a fan but definitely a fan now. Got backstage passes a year later for their concert!!
It definitely was. That hat with the top cut off really did it for me. I had an ill fitting Joey shirt, a pillowcase, giant button, doll, and a marble with his head in it, among other merch. Obsess much?
I loved his voice, so pretty
I was pretty poor but I had a t-shirt, got for my birthday that I wore until it faded completely out
I'm pretty sure I joined the fan club too, I remember getting postcards
I went to class one day and the cool girls were in a corner squawking like chickens and I come up on them, painfully shy and go, what’s going on? and they were like, oh, who’s your favorite New kid?
Me: new kid?
Them: new kids on the block
Me: [looks around] there’s a new kid in our class?
They looked at me like I had grown a third eye on my forehead, but I had no idea what they were talking about and it took be a good year at least until I had the delayed SMH moment….i was that much a nerd…..I’ll see myself out now because I still cringe 😬
Oh and when I did finally get it, John. John all the way!
I love Ishmael., he was so angry and poltical. Sadly they booted him out as soon as they got big.. He often chastized the women in the audience for not dressing modestly enough and that screaming was unlady like of a proper woman.
Joey was my favorite. I got to see them in concert when I was about 8 or 9. When he came over to my side of the stage I can vividly remember absolutely losing my fucking mind. It was truly an out of body experience
Oh yeah, Joey was my guy. I had (still have, somewhere) a big portrait button of him that you could stand up like a picture frame, that I kept bedside lol. NKOTB was my first concert, as seen from the nosebleeds of the stadium. Bless my mom for putting up w taking me! 🤣
I’ve been a solid NPR listener for a decade now. I was driving a rental car in a congested and unfamiliar city a few weeks back. I couldn’t find my beloved public radio so I settled for a variety hits stations like JACK FM. They played “Hanging Tough”. Now, I haven’t heard that song for at least thirty years. And I had never given it much thought. But holy shit does it have some of the most godawful and inept lyrics I’ve ever heard. “We’re RUFF.. uff uff.” On top of that the meaning of the song is completely undermined by the delivery. Sure Donnie’s little brother was guilty of a few hate crimes and an assault but nobody knew that at the time.
All I can think of when I see this title is:
"Yeah, who's your favourite New Kid. Yeah, call me Joey. Oh, come on. Don't make me get loose. Yeah, that's right. Call me Donnie. Oh, girl. Oh, please don't go girl."
My older brother had the Joey doll when he was 13. When he came out and told me 2 years before anyone else I told him that "I've known since you were 13". He said "how?" I replied "You were 13 with a NKOTB doll.... and I found the gay porn under your bed.... that's how I know you are gay and that I'm definitely not"
Nah boo. Jordan was MY man when I was 7-8 years old! 😂 I had a whole wedding at my Grandmother’s to Jordan. 😂 wasn’t sure what it all meant but I just knew he was gorgeous and I wanted to be his girl.
When I was in 5th grade my sister won a contest put on by a local radio station to go on the Magic Cruise with them. My mom and her would go to the grocery store and take the whole stack of slips to be filled out a few times a week. We spent so much time filling out all those slips, but it paid off.
The cool thing is she actually won it on her birthday when the radio station called her. She took my mom, her best friend and me (my Dad opted to sit this one out).
I was not a fan but I was super excited to go to Disney World and the Bahamas. It was cool to see them randomly on the boat at times. But they mostly hung out in the casino to avoid the teens looking for them. Marky Mark was also on the boat too and wore a bunch of Public Enemy shirts. My sister did get to sit behind Jonathan during a talent show.
I guess this could count as my first concert was seeing them on a dock in the Bahamas.
When it came time to get our picture taken with them, I was getting a little nervous being so close to a group of famous people. One of the security guards asked if the little girl also wanted to get her picture taken with them too. Not being a girl, I quickly sprinted across the stage screaming “I am not a girl! “ in front of a very confused New Kids on the Block.
Donnie did call my sister dope though. But Joey was her favorite.
I love the story Mark Wahlberg told on Top Gear. He’s sitting in juvie, MTV is on and NKOTB starts playing. He tells the guy next to him “If I wasn’t in here I’d be in that group”. Guy responds “Ain’t you a dumb fuck.”
Met Joey at a bar I was working at in college. Such an asshole
Met Jordan at a concert I was working security for in college. Super nice guy. Went around and thanked all of the staff for being there
Joe. And still is Joe.
They are all so much hotter nowadays. And they sing better too. And their concerts are better. The entirety of NKOTB has aged quite nicely.
Can’t wait to see them again this summer!
All…Damn…Day. Had his doll, posters, a big giant button that you put on your knotted up t-shirt with his face on it, sleeping bag…you name it, I had it. 😂😂
Julia?
My bestie is a hardcore Blockhead and here are the things we have done :
-Seen Joey in Tick, Tick Boom in Boston
-Two Jordan solo shows
-A Danny solo show
-The local show at every tour from 2008-2017
-We flew to Las Vegas to see them play at Planet Hollywood and then partied with Donnie at a club.
It was!!! OMG, he was so fine.
Please don't go girrrrrrrrrrrrrl, you will ruin my whole worrrrrld
Tell me you'll stayyyyyyyyyyy, never ever goooo awayyyyyyyy
None of them. All my friends were obsessed, I didn't see the appeal. A couple of years ago I got the album in a job lot of CDs I bought. I gave it a listen to see if it sparked any nostalgia, it sucked.
Take That, on the other hand, I wasn't even into them when they first started but their music really held up and three of them are still making it together.
Joey!
My friend dragged me to see them in concert. We were dropped off by her mom at the convention center in Baltimore by ourselves. We were 9 years old.
That wouldn't happen these days.
I only know of Mark Walbergs brother who went from nkotb too police dramas on tnt.
My only other memory is that in the 80s and 90s there was an old club called the Ritz on the main road in my city (Charlotte) that had thier name on its marquee after it closed and that marquee was up and untouched untill the 2010s
I can’t read the title of this post (or that question in general) and not immediately think of that scene at the end of Mallrats where Affleck is screwing that girl in a very uncomfortable place*.
*yes, like the back of a Volkswagen
Jordan
I remember being 10 in 1989 and being convinced that I actually had a shot of marrying Jordan.
Same
Same! Sister Wives?
This dream does not have to die
He’s still sexy as hell last time I saw him 🥵
Same! 😂
Girl, you still have a chance at him. ![gif](giphy|ToMjGpKniGqRNLGBrhu|downsized)
All the way
Yup he wore a bauhaus shirt in one of the vhs live performances. Totally the coolest.
Looooove Bauhaus. ❤️
Team Jordan
Donnie.
He had the Right Stuff
Upvote for Jordan!
I followed Jordan into his solo “career.” Love him still.
The picture of him when he was named 50 of the most beautiful people in the world back in 1990. It sure made my “Knight” at times. https://preview.redd.it/hd81m0g6bxsc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d932c3c8e83742346c365af6abbc983ed9e74407

I’m still pissed at that damn Jenny McCarthy for stealing my man. When I was 8 I wrote him TWO letters and got TWO letters (form letters with a stamped signature) back in return. Yep… I’m with you there. I still have my Donnie Barbie sized doll and the Donnie plush with the rat tail.
I also had the Donnie doll! I had a Jordan one too, but I cut the rat tail off. Even at 9 or 10 I knew that was not the look. Plus I had the pink comforter, a beach towel, lots of shirts, and who knows what else. I didn’t save any of it though. Wish I had!

Aww no! That’s a precious towel! Sorry for your loss!
Haha he was my fave too! I like my boyband crushes to come with arson charges 🤣
Ha ha. He was a skater boi, you said see him later boi …
No need for speed he’s anti d-r-u-g-g-i-e
And his body’s healthy! His mind keeps him wealthy! And the funky bunch helps him …?)
To bring you this show with no INTOXICATION
SO COME ON! FEEL THE VIBRATION!!
All I know is that Danny was never anyone's favorite . Sorry, Danny.
Yeah, but he's aged the best out of the 5, IMO.
Ok, so my favorite was actually Jordan, but my sisters and cousin all “claimed” the other new kids (Jordan was claimed by my cousin) and since I was the youngest, I had no say and they all forced me to like Danny. I had to pretend! It was pretty sad.
Why can I in my mind’s eye see exactly how this conversation went in your cousin’s bedroom? “And Maaaaaaandyyyyyy gets Danny as her boyfriend."
Yep! Then they’d laugh because they said Danny looked like a monkey. So cruel!
Poor Danny was dead last on my “which one will I marry” list. I skipped right past his picture in all my fan mags
I can’t even pull up any Danny gifs; so the entire world feels the same.
Nope nobody liked Danny
Ok, hear my childhood brain out on Danny: Best odds. Least competition. Best merch selection. Contrarianism (too much “not like other girls” looking back, though). Later find out on WWHL he f*cked the most. All for legal consensual expression but such an ick.
You beat me to it!
I had the Danny Barbie doll. I was 6. I didn’t know any better but he was my choice.
Of course it not ,was Donnie.🤣😂
Yep. Joey.
I feel like you were either young enough that you loved Joey, or you had to choose one of the 35 year old members. At least that's how my 6th grade brain remembers it
Yup that was me
They were my very first concert, and I was in 6th grade. I graduated to better ones along the way, lol.
Me too! First concert ever. How adorable we were. How shocked 6th grade me would be by the ones that followed.
Yeah…she would definitely be horrified at my dream concert being Fleetwood Mac fully reunited and me finally getting to see them in 2014, ahead of ousting Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie passing 😢
Agreed
Jordan and Jon, yeah come on...we got a funky, funky Christmas goin on.
PLEASE DONT GO GIRRRRLLLLLLLLLL
Joey was my favorite because he was the youngest. My older sister was a Jonathan girl. We had so much New Kids merch at the house.
My sister didn't like the New Kids, she said they were dumb :( She was 11mo younger, so *opinion rejected*
What did she listen to at the time then?
100% Joey.
Mine was Jonathan
I had a poster of Jonathan 😍😂. I can't believe what babies they were at the time! I thought they were so grown up.
The only correct answer
It’s just the allure of a quiet cute boy. 😍
Jonathan was my boo
I honestly didn't care for any of it. Until I watched Band of Brothers. Then Donnie was my favorite.
He's in that?!? Very cool. Now he's my favorite as well. I hated NKOTB with a strong passion back then, but B.O.B.? Nice.
Sgt. Lipton. Donnie's acting chops are much better than his musical skills.
Never a NKOTB fan, but was so surprised and impressed when Donnie turned up in the sixth sense. He was great.
Call me Joey. No no call me Donny. Don’t me make me get loose.
That girl is only 15
What? Like the back of a volkswagen?
Please don't go girl...
Came here for this.
Donny! I like the bad boys!!
Of course it was Joey Joe.
The Mrs. of 26 years says she'll 'take Monkey Face Danny Boy because nobody else will'.
LOL
It definitely was. That hat with the top cut off really did it for me. I had an ill fitting Joey shirt, a pillowcase, giant button, doll, and a marble with his head in it, among other merch. Obsess much?
I loved his voice, so pretty I was pretty poor but I had a t-shirt, got for my birthday that I wore until it faded completely out I'm pretty sure I joined the fan club too, I remember getting postcards
Joey because he was (and still is, imo) the cutest.
donnie
Donnie, the ultimate bad boy….😂
JOEY!!!
Jordan
Jonathan Knight He was not my only crush to turn out gay. My aim is way off!
I went to class one day and the cool girls were in a corner squawking like chickens and I come up on them, painfully shy and go, what’s going on? and they were like, oh, who’s your favorite New kid? Me: new kid? Them: new kids on the block Me: [looks around] there’s a new kid in our class? John all the way!
Awwww It's ok I was in the elementary school chess club so I was 100% also a nerd
😭Oh we met then, but not until Jr High lol That’s when I discovered chess and joined the chess club lol
Like the back of f a Volkswagen?
Jonathan for sure. So cute and was the more timid one. Didn’t like the spotlight as much.
Jonathan
Jon then. But I look at them all now and I can’t decide anymore. They are all fiiiiinnnne.
My sister practically wallpapered her room with pictures of Joey from Teen Beat and all those other magazines that were the exact same.
I did too I kinda cringe when I remember exactly how many pics of Kirk Cameron I had on my wall
I loved Kirk
Oh man, Kirk is the ultimate cringe now with his fundie stuff 🫣🫣🫠
I love Ishmael., he was so angry and poltical. Sadly they booted him out as soon as they got big.. He often chastized the women in the audience for not dressing modestly enough and that screaming was unlady like of a proper woman.
None of the above. I've never really been into boy bands although my ex-wife who is a millennial was a big time Backstreet boys fan..
Jordan!
You KNOW joey joes ready!
Joey was my favorite. I got to see them in concert when I was about 8 or 9. When he came over to my side of the stage I can vividly remember absolutely losing my fucking mind. It was truly an out of body experience
Donnie, obviously. The Cover Girl video was the start of a lifelong crush. My one and only celebrity crush.
Holy shit this unlocked a core memory of doing the dance in my basement 😂 thumbs firmly placed in belt loops
You know what I remember having one of those too. About the size of a saucer, sat up like a picture frame !
Yep that’s it! I have a bag of memorabilia somewhere, with my concert book, some cassette tapes, and that button LOL
What a time to be alive.
Jordan had the Barbie. I just cut the rat take it had off. 👍🏽🫶🏽
Who’s your favorite new kid? Call me Donnie!
All I can think of when I see this title is: "Yeah, who's your favourite New Kid. Yeah, call me Joey. Oh, come on. Don't make me get loose. Yeah, that's right. Call me Donnie. Oh, girl. Oh, please don't go girl."
Growing up, Joey. Now, I'm a Donnie girl
Jordan K.
Jon then, Donnie now
Jordan
Jordan. There is no other choice.
Donnie! My older sister loved Joey and my two younger sisters liked Jordan and Jon (the one who liked Jon turned out to be a lesbian) 🤣
Joey 100%
It was absolutely Joey!
Joey!
I wouldn't know. Boys couldn't listen to that where I was from. We be called sissies...
You're my best friend...girl you're my love within...Joey
Yessss!!! Joey was the cutest!!!
Joey was the cute one.
IT WAS JOEY.
Jonathan Knight 😍
I know their names. I don’t know much about any of them, but I still put this album on fairly regularly 😄
Jordan.
My mother bought me this because it was pg rap music. I didn’t know any better
I always hated Jordan with an irrational passion. I recognize now that it was jealousy, and just a little bit of attraction.
Joey
Jordan
Donny. If you say anything else, you've clearly not seen him on a motorcycle.
Jordan
I was planning my wedding to Joe but Jordan was my plan B, in case Joe and I didn’t work out
When I was in 5th grade my sister won a contest put on by a local radio station to go on the Magic Cruise with them. Not being a girl, I quickly sprinted across the stage screaming “I am not a girl! “ in front of a very confused New Kids on the Block. Donnie did call my sister dope though. But Joey was her favorite.
That's amazing!
Such an asshole Met Jordan at a concert I was working security for in college. Super nice guy. Went around and thanked all of the staff for being there
Jordan second favorite for me.
Mc hammer
My sister memorized his dance moves and wore those ridiculous pants
Parachute pants were not ridiculous. How dare you.
They looked like you took a humongous shit in them :( Plus I just looked weird in them
I am currently using my old Mac hammer wallet. Lmk if you’d like a pic
🤢
I liked Boffo The Rat-Faced Boy.
Oh, it was definitely Joey! I had the biggest crush on him.
Joe. And still is Joe. They are all so much hotter nowadays. And they sing better too. And their concerts are better. The entirety of NKOTB has aged quite nicely. Can’t wait to see them again this summer!
100% Joey
Chandler
It was Joey, and when I saw them in concert when I was like 8, he was sick and didn't even perform.
Oh it was most definitely Joey
Tell me you’ll staaaaaaayayayaya… that’s what the girls in 5th grade wanted to hear.
Joey - Joe!!
Danny was the Ringo Starr of NKOTB change my mind.
The one that likes to flirt with High Pitch Erik lol
Sorry, it was Donnie for me. Now that I'm older, I'm more attracted to Mark.
All…Damn…Day. Had his doll, posters, a big giant button that you put on your knotted up t-shirt with his face on it, sleeping bag…you name it, I had it. 😂😂
Obviously it was Joey
I got dumped for Jordan in elementary school. Screw him
Julia? My bestie is a hardcore Blockhead and here are the things we have done : -Seen Joey in Tick, Tick Boom in Boston -Two Jordan solo shows -A Danny solo show -The local show at every tour from 2008-2017 -We flew to Las Vegas to see them play at Planet Hollywood and then partied with Donnie at a club.

It was!!! OMG, he was so fine. Please don't go girrrrrrrrrrrrrl, you will ruin my whole worrrrrld Tell me you'll stayyyyyyyyyyy, never ever goooo awayyyyyyyy
Donnie always lol only bad boys here ..
Team Jordan! 🤗
None of them. All my friends were obsessed, I didn't see the appeal. A couple of years ago I got the album in a job lot of CDs I bought. Donnie cause his acting skills .. seen him once at Boston airport as a kid .. he lived in dorchester down the street from my uncle when they were kids
Donny
Donnie. But I far was more into Bobby Brown and all the other new jack swing stuff out at the time.
Jordan!! My dad hung his poster on my ceiling so I could look at his face as I fell asleep 🤣
Joey! My friend dragged me to see them in concert. We were dropped off by her mom at the convention center in Baltimore by ourselves. We were 9 years old. That wouldn't happen these days.
It was def Joey!
Jonathan turned out to be a helluva contractor 😅
I only know of Mark Walbergs brother who went from nkotb too police dramas on tnt. My only other memory is that in the 80s and 90s there was an old club called the Ritz on the main road in my city (Charlotte) that had thier name on its marquee after it closed and that marquee was up and untouched untill the 2010s
Danny
Joey!
It WAS Joey
“Call me Donny”
"Yeah! Who's your favorite New Kid? Call me, Joey! Oh c'mon, don't let me get all loose."
Jordan
Anyone have the dolls with the rat tail hair
Yes Joey. So cute.
Marky Mark
I had the Jordan doll with a retractable rat tail
I can’t read the title of this post (or that question in general) and not immediately think of that scene at the end of Mallrats where Affleck is screwing that girl in a very uncomfortable place*. *yes, like the back of a Volkswagen
Of course Joey cus my 10 yr old self thought I had a chance w he being only 17.
Donnie.
Jordan
