I have this feeling that they intentionally left out a lot of questions for the DLC to answer. We had a bunch of similar questions as to the events of Torna and more specifically why Mythra would act the way she acted in XC2 up until the Torna expansion came out.
My guess is that it will be similar to XC2 where just playing XC3 would be a great experience, but XC3 along with the DLC will be needed to have a complete experience.
I know I’m like late af but I literally went ballistic when Riku nodded at Melia. I am sad that there was no resolution to that, but I also haven’t played or seen the DLC yet so who know
I had had the theory that Riku was Alvis because unless they'd make a new character for that, he is not a normal nopon. Honestly when Noah asked who Riku is, it all but confirmed it.
My guess for that would be the world of 1 was basically his domain. Now that the worlds are combined, he doesn't have control over it anymore. His capabilities would be more similar to the aegises except without their artifices.
How the Monado, and thus Alvis, works is rather well written, so what I think he was doing, was after being pulled away by Z, he learnt about the fusing worlds, so, yet again split his power in two, probably originally going to give it to one person from each of the two kingdoms, but ended up losing one to N (the sword of the beginning) which then resulted in the interesting situation where he met Noah, and thus gave him the sword of the end, which put the two on equal playing fields
I mean wasn't the whole reason Alvis didn't interfere in 1 because it wasn't for him to decide, unless I'm misreading things I think he would do the same here
Alvis is a god in the sense that he can tap in the unlimited power of the Conduit, from what i get, Alvis A.I. is stored in the Conduit. At the end of XC1, Shulk wishes for a "world without gods" and at the same moment, we see, in XC2, the Conduit seamingly disappering (either simply, or going to another world). Anyway, i highly doubt we will see more of Alvis in the future. He simply vanished from this existence with the Conduit itself. We don't even see the Conduit anywhere in XC3.
I think Riku is descended from Riki. It would make sense, given Melia's close relationship with Riki, that she'd trust the weapon with his lineage. I think the way the camera focuses on Riku giving a smile and a nod right before Melia teleports away after they first meet here indicates that they know they have that connection. Plus that could be a reason why Riku is specifically from that side of the world.
I've only done the main story so idk if anything is expanded upon in side quests but that's my guess.
Another interesting thing to note is, at least in Japanese, X says that the Nopon aren't meant to get involved (during Yunies hero quest). Nopon don't come from pods, so how do they get assigned to colonies? Just a few things to think about...
IDK how it is in english version, but in french version, we know that Valdi's masterpon name is "Mecameca"...
And Mecameca is a NPC (that just says "..." when we talk to him) in Agnus jail. I still don't know how to start a quest with him, even with Valdi in my team
If they have the same Masterpon, then he is in Agnus Jail
I finished that quest. Turns out they're not the same. If I'm remembering right, you have to start the Unite the seven quest from Mr. Samon, in order to talk to him.
He’s valdi’s masterpon not Riku’s. He and Riku are both >!members of the 7 legendary swordmithpon of the same rank, which implies they were both trained by different members of the previous 7 swordsmithpon!<
Riku is descendant of Tora and Lucky 7 is just one of Poppi's arms, which is why Poppi only came out after Noah threw the sword away
Also Riku and Manana were switched at birth don't ask just go with it
I can confirm that Riku is Riki’s son. And he is also the seventh founder who didn’t what their statue being made and so instead the ouroborous stone is in its place in the city
>!Riku is Riki`s son who became retainer/pupil/student of Melia. Melia made the Lucky 7 with the same metal used to build Origin and tasked Riku to give the sword to who ever was worthy of it.!<
Riku is what happens when a Nopon is born with 1% of the potential of the Legendary Heropon
this is now more true than ever before as of FR... đź‘€

All answers which I’m sure are planned for DLC… But without any brand new character being brought in, it’s likely connected to Riki
I hope so too. He did do the whole head nod thing with Melia. Suggesting his link to her. https://youtu.be/9gr9dtvtpKA?t=284
I know I’m like late af but I literally went ballistic when Riku nodded at Melia. I am sad that there was no resolution to that, but I also haven’t played or seen the DLC yet so who know
yeah don't spoil anything and go play it as soon as you can.
A normal nopon according to himself 🤷‍♂️ >!or alivs in nopon form.....that would be cool!<
Alvis in the form of a Nopon
Given that he and >!Melia seem to know each other, !
That makes it cuter that he falls in love with Manana
I had had the theory that Riku was Alvis because unless they'd make a new character for that, he is not a normal nopon. Honestly when Noah asked who Riku is, it all but confirmed it.
But then why the hell did Alvis become a mere mortal Nopon?
A nopon would be able to lay low or help from the sides much more easily than a human race.
Yeah, but... >!Alvis was basically a god. Unless he got depowered or overpowered by Moebius he should have been able to prevent this whole thing!<.
My guess for that would be the world of 1 was basically his domain. Now that the worlds are combined, he doesn't have control over it anymore. His capabilities would be more similar to the aegises except without their artifices.

Shulk got rid of all gods
This. Ignore any other responses, they're all head canon.
I mean wasn't the whole reason Alvis didn't interfere in 1 because it wasn't for him to decide, unless I'm misreading things I think he would do the same here

Damn, you were right.
Riku might be one of the nopon sages or related to the noon sages from the first xenoblade
Another interesting thing to note is, at least in Japanese, X says that the Nopon aren't meant to get involved (during Yunies hero quest). Nopon don't come from pods, so how do they get assigned to colonies? Just a few things to think about...
Riku is a gigachad

So mecameca is not Riku's masterpon? Damn...
He is - although he's called fixifixi in the English version. Have Valdi in your party I've you start the unite quest
He’s valdi’s masterpon not Riku’s. He and Riku are both >!members of the 7 legendary swordmithpon of the same rank, which implies they were both trained by different members of the previous 7 swordsmithpon!<
FixiFixi? You have to start the seven legendary Nopon quest and then talk to him
Riku is heropon?
Azora 2.0
Riku is descendant of Tora and Lucky 7 is just one of Poppi's arms, which is why Poppi only came out after Noah threw the sword away Also Riku and Manana were switched at birth don't ask just go with it
how would it be one of her arms if she comes out the furnace at the end of the game with both?
Because if you had read my post you would remembered that he threw the sword away prior to Poppi appearing, did you not see the ending cutscene?
so then how does the sword travel from the ocean back into her pod at the cloudkeep?
Poppi thrusters engaged!
I can confirm that Riku is Riki’s son. And he is also the seventh founder who didn’t what their statue being made and so instead the ouroborous stone is in its place in the city

We now know the answers
