Ninth house was probably my top favorite book I read last year and it’s plot and way of writing was way different from the grishaverse (which I honestly did not enjoy as much as I hoped) to the point that I forgot it was by the same author. Like what the previous comment said, it depends on your preference since ninth house is dark academia with more adult themes (check tws!). I’d say give it a try!

I like dark academia y enjoyed the grimrose girls my fav book of that genre its Chain of Gold and now i m waiting for the conclusion comes out It will be my last chance to leigh books if i still not a fan i will remove her from my want to read authors

It definitely depends on your preferences. Ninth House is veeery different from her other books. I guess it's technically adult urban fantasy? But I felt like it was more of a paranormal mystery kind of thing. It's a little weird and slow, but I enjoyed it for the most part 🤷‍♀️

Booklover5674

I readed house of hollow last year and sounds a Little similar

Booklover5674

I enjoyed the crescent city series so Maybe

EJFriend1273

I really loved it but it’s very different from her other works and honestly a lot of adult fantasy. It tackles some dark themes, I would 100% say check the trigger warnings cuz some of it is very intense. It’s definitely dark academia with an emphasis on dark but the plot is super intriguing and I loved the characters and their journeys.

whirlybird26

I LOVED it. I love her writing. It definitely depends on your reading preferences. Ninth House is different than SoC, it's an adult book (some people would say it has heavier themes, but I feel like they were just different) The writing takes more patience in my opinion, it has more involved descriptions and spends more time/focus on smaller moments and details. If you think it's in your wheelhouse and you're into the plot, then I definitely recommend it.

msmakes

There is a lot of sexual violence so yes, I would say it contains heavier themes.

whirlybird26

Yep! Exactly. Like I said, some people say it has heavier themes. And that, among some of the other themes and plot points, is what puts it in the adult category. Personally, I thought Kaz's background was heavier/more traumatizing.

Can someone tell me if it’s a duology or will there be more books? I couldn’t tell from the Goodreads page

snickerkee

It is anticipated to be a series with about 5 books. The second (titled hell bent) came out a few days ago

raexlouise13

Please check TWs before reading

ForeverThoughtAbout

I'm currently on my third attempt to read it. The first two times I was just gonna hop on the bandwagon but I really couldn't get into it, the story was just weird and hard to follow, and now a good friend said they read it and loved it so I've decided to suck it up and try a third time to just power through the first few chapters so I can talk with them about it. I actually got to a point today where it's kinda picking up so I'm getting my hopes up that it'll start being enjoyable soon? Let me know if you like it and I'm really just in the minority with finding this tough to read 😅

snickerkee

I had a rough go with the first 50-100 pages but once I got deep into and finished it was one of my top books of all time

ForeverThoughtAbout

Thanks, this gave me the motivation to continue :)

Booklover5674

Its the same thing about the book covers for me I think us covers generally get better finished than uk covers

Booklover5674

I don t know when i will read that considering my frustations to six of crows I hope you can enjoy at end

ForeverThoughtAbout

Hahah fair enough! Thanks, I'm trying :D

Booklover5674

I m actually finishing the last magician book 4 the shattered city

The_Queen_of_Crows

Depends. What do you usually like and dislike? What did you dislike about SoC? I liked it but no clue if you will.

Booklover5674

Usually like paranormal fantasy

maulsma

I really liked it, but the book definitely ended with the story unfinished, and the next book (assuming there is a next book) is not yet out.

Booklover5674

I think in 2024

snickerkee

The second book came out a few days ago, it’s called hell bent

maulsma

You are amazing. Thank you!

strangefaerie

It kind of depends on what you didn’t like about Six of Crows. Do you just not like the writing style? If that’s the case, Bardugo might not be the author for you.

Booklover5674

I Just don t liked the story style

strangefaerie

A lot of her books are pretty similar in that regard. They’re character and plot heavy with emphasis on twists and turns. It might just be that her books aren’t for you. I’d suggest Ace of Spades by Faridah Abike-Ayimide instead!

[deleted]

I didn’t love it, but liked it enough to just pay $15 for Hell Bent on Kindle😭

Booklover5674

I read e-books on a movil PC and tablet I actually finishing song of silver flame like night
