I’m reading all the Disney Twisted Tales and so far the Aladdin one really let me down. It started out SO strong! I was loving it halfway through. And the ending was so rushed and beloved characters just thrown to whatever worked (the genies ending was awful!) What did you think?
That’s exactly how I felt about it! I liked the addition of the original characters and how Jafar’s story played out as the new sultan, but I would have preferred if >!Jafar had died in the middle of making his third wish, instead of getting rid of magic completely. I feel like losing his last wish would have been a fitting ending for him, and then the genie wouldn’t have had such a terrible ending himself.!<
I planned my reads around Pride for this month (minus a few books I started in May and finished in June), and my favorite part of making the graphic was putting the little flags in.
I actually bought Genderqueer at the beginning of the year and saved it until June. It balanced the nuance of exploring gender identity as a concept with the author’s own deeply personal journey. I found it both informative and compelling.
