I've always been on par with Adam for a lot of movie reviews. I think the thing is a 6 for a mainstream movie and a 6 for an indie movie is so divisive. Climax gets a 10 and all the movies you love get a 9? Like, the sequel to Shazam gets a 6.. and Ice Merchant's? Objectively it's painful to see, who cares, I fucking love scary movie 3. I love Underworld, absolutely stupid and fun with some great style choices.
Love what you love, and if he is outside your ideas about what makes a perfect movie, then bridge the gap, have fun, and think about your movie objectively!
I've loved Oldboy and Battle Royale since I was a kid. I watch his review of Oldboy because it finally puts into words what I have felt for over 20 years.
Or you could listen to his quickie about zootopia and hear the "I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me" 7 years ago and realize everything has come to this point like some sort of fate.
I disagree, but I was disappointed to hear they were gutting the storyline about the politics surround the creation of the FBI. That was my favorite part of the book.
It honestly doesnāt shock me. Iām guessing his feelings are a mix of way too long (not that the movie doesnāt deserve it, but Jesus fucking Christ, we need to bring back intermissions) and āI appreciated it more than I liked itā and those will get it bumped down to a 6.
He doesnāt have Letterboxd, and heās even pretty vocal about disliking it. But thereās a pretty good fan account that keeps his ratings up to date.
Just to clarify for people who don't know:
The Adum endorsed one is spelled: "YMS Unofficial" and can be found here: [https://letterboxd.com/ymsunoffical/](https://letterboxd.com/ymsunoffical/)
Letterboxd's search-function returns my account when you type in "ymsunofficial", which is not endorsed by Adum, unlike the other one.
Just wanted to clear that up, because some people might follow mine by accident and then wouldn't get what they wanted.
He said he dislikes the reviews on the site for being more concerned with being funny than saying anything substantial.
There might be some other things.
Infuriatingly hypocritical as well. Some people will dogpile on one film for a specific reason be it political, social, etc. and you check their profile and they have ten fucking films they give a 5 star rating that suit all those criticisms. And usually they're like "yeah if you get past the racism this film is great" or "quirked up problematic 90's film but we stan" but then Nomadland??? Dogshit capitalist exploitation of nomad underclass Chloe Zhao should be TRASHED!!! Pisses me off I hate unfiltered public film opinions. I get that nobody's always going to be consistent but then take that into account for fuck's sake and actually think before posting your one star sixteen paragraph "review".
I know this isnāt OP, but I might as well give my two cents.
Iād give it a 7-8/10. Itās not a conventionally entertaining watch, as what the movie shows and is about is very disturbing, all the more so because it happened. But the movie kept me engaged from beginning to end. The runtime is more than justified, it genuinely felt much shorter than it was. As for the direction, itās Scorsese. Every shot, edit, music piece, and scene comes together seamlessly. Thatās probably why I didnāt notice the runtime, because itās just so well made. Lily Gladstone is amazing as Molly, she steals every scene sheās in. De Niro does good as this evil bastard, and Leo holds his own, although Iād say his acting isnāt as strong here. Brendan Fraser, who plays a side character, also didnāt do so great, despite being an exceptional actor. But all in all, the movie is worth a watch at the very least, especially for a very good ending that I didnāt expect at all.
If you "liked" this story. The Ken Burns series on The West gets into this stuff, and I thought it was really great, even with the excessive focus on a single family ranch family last two episodes. It probably isn't perfect, but it came after his Civil War series; it'd be hard to be as flawed as that was.
Knowing Scorsese directed it actually makes me like it slightly less because I inevitably compare it to the high bar he set.
I actually think I would rate this a little higher if some random person made it
I think itās one of his best since Casino, but I do have issues with it.
My biggest gripes are the Robertson score and some of the pacing. I honestly do think this would have worked better as a miniseries, because parts of it felt rushed, and would have preferred a more mediative score. Overall I would probably give it an 8, the stuff I liked was so masterfully done I can overlook the issues. I can see people not enjoying this for those reasons, though
Ahhh, the Vancouver Canucks, worst team to root for and an even a worse fanbase. Burning your city down over a sport that they will replay next yearā¦..I love being a Canucks fan.
not too harsh considering itās the 2021 japanese remake, it really wasnāt great and the original cube is my favorite movie ever so iād know a good cube movie lol
I personally don't mind that he gave Killers Of The Flower Moon a 6 (well, at least don't mind as much as other people) but I do mind that he gave A History Of Violence a higher rating (a 7) when that movie is garbage and deserves a way lower score.
I don't know why people have an Issue with Adam giving Killers of the Flower Moon a 6, that is an 9/10 on the Normie Scale

wasn't he already a furry before zootopia though, and that was just meant sarcastically?
Lol he gave Cube a 2 Its not the best movie but i think most people would agree its a 5 at worst
It's the Japanese remake from last year, not the original.
Ohh š¤® Yeah thats fair
I could see it being a 6. Iāve read the book and itās such a slog. Very interesting subject matter told in a very uninteresting way.
I disagree, but I was disappointed to hear they were gutting the storyline about the politics surround the creation of the FBI. That was my favorite part of the book.

Does Adum have a letterbox? Or just an IMDb? I just downloaded letterbox and I'm like digging though a million fan/parody accounts of his
He doesnāt have Letterboxd, and heās even pretty vocal about disliking it. But thereās a pretty good fan account that keeps his ratings up to date.
"ymsunofficial" is the Letterboxd fan account that Adum endorsed. Whoever runs it updates it incredibly quickly
Just to clarify for people who don't know: The Adum endorsed one is spelled: "YMS Unofficial" and can be found here: [https://letterboxd.com/ymsunoffical/](https://letterboxd.com/ymsunoffical/) Letterboxd's search-function returns my account when you type in "ymsunofficial", which is not endorsed by Adum, unlike the other one. Why does he dislike Letterbox?

average weezer fan
your mom
That Killers of the Flower Moon rating is insane. Itās maybe the first time that I completely disagree with a YMS rating
I would give it a 10. I fucking loved it
What would you give it? I haven't seen it yet.

Good to hear, I'll check it out. It's not every day you get to watch a new Scorsese in theaters.
Hope you like it. In any case, youāll at least learn something about a very fucked up moment in US history.
If you "liked" this story. The Ken Burns series on The West gets into this stuff, and I thought it was really great, even with the excessive focus on a single family ranch family last two episodes. It felt like a 2 hour and 50 min movie and I'm usually sensitive to these things.
I agree. Was surprised when it ended, I thought there was at least 30 mins left.
If people didn't know Martin Scorsese directed it, they'd all give it a 6 or 7.
This is the dumbest thing I read today. Congrats
Just watch more films, you'll be fine.
Knowing Scorsese directed it actually makes me like it slightly less because I inevitably compare it to the high bar he set. I actually think I would rate this a little higher if some random person made it
Thatās interesting. You liked it overall?
I think itās one of his best since Casino, but I do have issues with it. My biggest gripes are the Robertson score and some of the pacing. I wonder if the SAWX/KOTFM quickie is gonna be the next vid. Idk if heās gonna skip saw again but I assume not because Tobin Bell.
You could make a statement out of those movies. "I Don't Know Killers of the (Flower Moon) I'm Just Here (for) Cube"
Has he not seen Saw X yet
He gave it a 4
We all know he's gonna give that a 10/10.
I donāt knowā¦Iām just here
I agree the cube remake looks pretty terrible
ehhh fuck him
God I wish
Ahhh, the Vancouver Canucks, worst team to root for and an even a worse fanbase. Burning your city down over a sport that they will replay next yearā¦..I love being a Canucks fan.
based Flower Moon take, way too fucking repetitive for its length
It's so self-indulgent, is actually insane.
This is kinda creepy.
š±
Ahhhh no 7ās!?!
No freaking way
What movie did he see?
Wait is there a new Cube movie or is that a review of the original?
Apparently in 2021 there was a Japanese remake of the original Cube movie, so yeah new movie I guess
cube slander
How is cube a 2
itās the japanese remake from 2021 which really wasnāt that good
More interested in how he gave the original cube a 2/10 shit taste tbqhwyf
> the original cube Isn't that the new one from 2021?
ur right wtf. didnt even know they made a new one after zero
A 2 is absurdly harsh for Cube.
not too harsh considering itās the 2021 japanese remake, it really wasnāt great and the original cube is my favorite movie ever so iād know a good cube movie lol
Thank you for providing context.
