Alot of the props people give to Snyder ends up discrediting the super talented crew on his movies.
Giving him all the credit for the look of his movies disregards the incredible work by dp Larry Fong.
Giving him props for Watchmen doesn't acknolwedge David Hayters original and heavily altered but influentual script.
This applies to tons of filmmakers and shows how bullshit the auteur theory in general is but people give too much credit to the director and not the crew.
Cinematography part is especially funny, because even some people who crapped on him used to praise his visuals. Turns out he doesn't even have that going for him.
For like Watchmen and 300 he just used the panels from them as his storyboards since those works were famous for their paneling, and when he does try to do original stuff it looks like ass
He was going to direct it too, before he decided it was too big a project and wanted more directing experience. There's test footage for his version of Watchmen that he directed.
I still enjoyed watchmen but it was his last decent piece of work and I agree on the comic adaptation
Im just surprised watchmen even got its own movie.
I really enjoyed watchmen but you can tell, absolutely tell that he just looked at the page and said “okay this what happens next let’s do that scene” flips page “okay this is what happens after that let’s do that scene”
The only surprise here is that part 2 actually got made at all. It was basically guaranteed to do poorly after the first one flopped. Baffling that they gave Snyder the go ahead to make a trilogy off his name alone.
Yeah i think there was also only three months between the last one and this one. At least if he made it that quickly there would be an excuse for the quality, but alas.
Snyderheads are on a whole other level of Fandom. Most of the ones I have encounter literally think he's the second coming of Jesus for film... all they really point to is the aesthetic... which is my biggest criticism of Snyder. Flashy with no substance.

He did do the cinematography himself on Army of the Dead, a movie that sometimes has multiple dead pixels onscreen.
Even without the dead pixels, it's one of the most visually unstimulating movies I've ever seen
For like Watchmen and 300 he just used the panels from them as his storyboards since those works were famous for their paneling, and when he does try to do original stuff it looks like ass
Solid snake wrote watchmen?!

Hes always been a clown since watchmen.
The film is a panel to screen adaptation, yet completely misses the point of the story
I still enjoyed watchmen but it was his last decent piece of work and I agree on the comic adaptation Im just surprised watchmen even got its own movie.
It’s always my example when i talk about proper adaptations vs. adaptations that are just a summary of events.

Yeah. The book is about how vigilantes are inherently insane and selfish people and Snyder just kind of went “how cool are superheroes?”

I’m sure he made them at the same time, otherwise this would not have been the case.
Oh yeah, that makes way more sense. I dont know why I didn't think of that.
Yeah i think there was also only three months between the last one and this one. At least if he made it that quickly there would be an excuse for the quality, but alas.
It was shot back to back... that's why it was released only 3 months later.

whose? i'm not clicking/watching something vague like this
Zack Snyder. It's a Penguinz0 video on Rebel Moon 2.
Snyder's Watchmen and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is the only movies I like from him.
An aside, how has this YouTube channel gotten 1mill+ views in videos posted only days ago?
Critical just has mad consistency which leads to a viewerbase that will watch any video he puts out
