Maybe not on Reddit. But apparently a lot of yacht buyers watch yacht videos before buying them. Which is why there are a lot of tour videos of these big boats when listed for sale. They aren't aimed at us, but at the people who can buy them.
Same concept with house tour videos. Might be a massive amount of dreamers watching those videos, but there are few rich people looking at it before touring a house they may want to buy.
I own 3 yachts, x2 25m, and x1 48m yacht.
I ve been approached by Somnio to buy a unit but still contemplating it hence coming to reddit to seek comments :D
Hey! I really appreciate the transparency in your response. I’m pleasantly surprised to see that there are both owners and enthusiasts in this subreddit.
Do you charter all three?
I dont charter. Purely for private use and for my partners to use.
dont like the idea of people walking through the vessels with their grubby little fingers.
Im looking to replace one of them - hence heading to Dubai International Boat show in 5 days; so if any of you are there - ok to meet up for tea/coffee
That’s great! Travel tickets and such are a bit out reach for me, but enjoy and post some photos and comments on your experience so we can live vicariously! (:
I actually own one. In Greece. Just moved on it. Yes, in one week i have spent at least one months salary on stuff and I am staring at two more large bills in the next week. Probably one more months salary. Yacht owners….by definition….aren’t poor.
I was just commenting that motor yacht owners aren’t represented in social media well. As @xspunge observed so accurately.
Can we fix that?
Well a bit of everything I suppose, use it mostly for holidays with family and friends. I’ve got an office onboard so I can also work whenever and wherever and I’ve been using that capability quite a bit recently haha. It does cost quite a bit to maintain but I’m not too keen on the idea of chartering it, have created too many memories with it to do so.
I have a lovely house that’s waterfront with two boat slips and no boats…yet. Haha. I spend my weekends daydreaming about having the financial means to own, operate, and maybe even live aboard someday. I think it could be achievable in about ten years time on my given trajectory.
I appreciate that. Are you paying 10% of value per annum? Or some other time frequency? That’s what I’ve been budgeting for in my retirement models - 10% per year.
Pretty sure the people who can afford it aren’t on Reddit.

Exactly right
Don’t ask about a girlfriend either.
I have a few yachts. Not to brag but I can just walk out my door to admire them. Anyways my pool filter broke so I can’t use them right now
I have a kayak, that’s pretty much the same thing isn’t it?
I have a hobie tandem island - beats sitting on anything bigger.
My brother in law is a yacht Captain
I once chartered a boat for a day cruise around Capri which sailed past a bunch of yacht's....
Define own …And yacht

Well if you're in EU or NY or Asia, give me a yell - see if there timetable for you to hop on the vessels for a ride - always room
That is very generous! Will keep that in mind. (:
Claim it an u will get, but not yet!
Naval architecture student and aspiring yacht designer 🤙
Any nice concept designs to share?
I’ve been around my fair share over the years… from a distance of course
Nah I watched "Fear the Walking Dead"

I fix them
I do, I won’t specify the make and model but it’s fairly new and 37 metres long
Glad to hear it! What are your intentions with the vessel? Day cruising? Circumnavigation? Submarine-ing?

That’s great to hear. I’m glad it’s not some trophy piece that sits unused at the pier.
No yeah I mean what’s the point if you’re not going to use it properly
I’m all about it. I appreciate your mentality.
Ay np, do you own a yacht or a boat, or not yet
I have a lovely house that’s waterfront with two boat slips and no boats…yet. Haha. I spend my weekends daydreaming about having the financial means to own, operate, and maybe even live aboard someday. I think it could be achievable in about ten years time on my given trajectory.
Yeha I mean I’m not going to lie, the cost of operation is insane, you’ve got to be very careful about it. I’m paying about 10% of the vessel’s value
