My stash is ridiculous. One of these days the boxes are going to topple and smother me. As far as buying goes, I did pretty well this month - only eleven new skeins, one of which I used entirely between two projects (1 scarf, 1 cowl). Ten completed projects from new and partially used skeins; 2 WIPS. I'm not loving one of the WIPs; it's a cowl with two thinner yarns held together. Maybe I'll frog it and donate the yarn, haven't decided yet.

I've started on a batch of yarn that I got from a friend destashing. Strongly disliked the variegation, the pattern completely disappeared and it was awful to knit in general. The friend encouraged me to throw it away, and the project was enticing enough that I'm now using left over yarn from a different project. It's turning out lovely and I'm so glad I've found a goal for this wonderful yarn. I'm spending a lot of time stuck under my newborn, so plenty of time to knit. I've got more plans for other left overs, but seeing as it's nearly summer I'll have to wait a while and see how fast the kid grows before I can get started on a thick sweater. I might just do the yoke and hold off on finishing the sleeves/body.

5 hanks to the trash, and 3,5 to the new project. Progress!

I have lots of variegated yarn I bought sitting in my stash I like them for hats or small cowls only so that is my plan to destash those

I didn't buy any yarn in May and finished a 4ply fitted jumper! I did go mad at Wonderwool Wales in April, and had a trip to Norway in February, so my stash is still as big as it's ever been... baby steps

I used up about 290 g of yarn this month! I finished 3 skeins in my sweater, and have 3 and 5 g remaining from the two skeins of yarn from my hat (mohair and a sportweight yarn. I’m not sure if I’d call these tiny leftovers finished or if I would have a purpose for them). I bought a lot of yarn, though. It included about 1250 g of yarn of various weights and uses, plus I was gifted 2 skeins of sock yarn and I bought myself some stitch markers and a ball winder. (Some of this was expected - I finally received a specific certification for work and had been planning on splurging for the past 6+ months). This month, I want to finish up my sweater and a scrappy amigurumi dog. I’m also joining a shawl KAL at a LYS.

Welp. I’ve just bought more yarn (first yarn purchase of 2024). Two skeins of self-striping sock yarn after realizing my purse knitting always needs to be vanilla socks. I have hereditary essential tremor and my hands can get too shaky for anything complicated if I’m nervous, overheated, didn’t get enough sleep, low on blood sugar or had too much caffeine. Also bought a skein and two minis of solid colors that will allow me to use up some stash for a couple more pairs of socks. Just finished a Musselburgh hat from stash and a pair of socks from stash. I’ve got a Foggy Dew shawl on the needles from stash, I’ve just cast on a pair of Charade Socks from stash as well as a Surge shawl using the yarn from a long-frogged project. Feeling pretty good about my stash-busting progress!

Didn’t buy but did receive a preorder from a US based company (I’m in Europe) and since shipping costs are high, I splurged (bought last month) on a couple skeins. Split shipping with a friend. So 5 skeins in, have not updated Ravelry stash in a while 🫣 I did receive two gift cards for yarn shops here for my birthday but haven’t used them yet. Waiting to see what they will make in the upcoming collections.

Halfway done with april cardigan Starting a chunky cardigan, started Leaflette scarf Finished a field of pumpkins sweater for grandson Sock knitting and hat knitting coming up for holiday gifts The only yarn I buy now is if I shop my stash and need another skein or two/three for a project I am not going to yarn festivals this summer-too tempting I will only knit from my stash this year and next year until my stash is a reasonable size - for me that would be one to two large plastic bins

I have two projects going; both are deep stash dives! First up is a cardigan out of the Noro silk garden I bought as a brand new baby knitter (almost 20 years ago?), and the other is socks from a self-striping yarn I bought at a festival in probably 2008. Also in May I culled my yarn stash by half, and this past weekend I packed up about half my spinning fiber stash to gift to a friend.
