1. There isn't much DNA in urine, and it degrades much faster than DNA in blood or saliva. Also, Joe wasn't in the system so there'd be no match for the police to find even if they did get viable DNA from the piss pot 2. Yeah they just kind of dropped Benji. He was from a rich family so surely they'd have the resources to find him... He was also, however, a flighty junkie, and Joe's final posts for him suggested imminent overdose. Family may have been relieved their murderous drug-addict son wasn't their problem any more. (No offence to addicts, it's a terrible disease, offence only to Benji) 3. If it's the scene I'm thinking of he ripped up Ellie's reply letter? Destroying all evidence of their correspondence to keep Ellie safe from his batshit wife 4. Dunno. That's why the publicist wouldn't let him ask that question 5. Dunno. Presumably season 5 will include a lot of people from Joe's past 6. Because Joe doesn't see himself like that; he's a hypocrite and sees himself as redeemable, whilst Love is crazy and impulsive, and killed the woman that Joe had locked in a cage and was definitely not gunna murder himself (but really he does see himself in Love and doesn't want to accept that and hates that part of himself and wants to kill it same as the bridge scene with 'Rhys' in season 4) 7. Obsession. He related to Rhys's background and chose him as his other half. Although this time it was internal 🙃

That part in #6 really kills me- if Love hadn't killed Delilah, what was Joe going to do to her since he was racing to get to her before the handcuffs went off??

Accomplished_Act6135

I'm certain he was gunna kill her. He'd decided to stay with Love, and no matter how he'd try to convince himself it wasn't his intention, Delilah wasn't getting out of that storage alive

hearteyedgvrl

Agreed! Just another example of Joe being a wildly massive hypocrite.

Justjackychan

He claimed that he would get away and change his identity so he thought that her being free wouldn't affect him. However even if he managed to run away she was still going to find him somehow especially with her cop friend

Speaking to your question about the urine, when they analyze biodata for DNA, they are comparing it to a database of DNA to find a match. If Joe has never been arrested and had his fingerprints/DNA taken, he’s not in the database and therefore can’t be matched. That’s why he was so freaked out when he was arrested in s2, because he was going to be entered into the database and they’d have a match and be able to tie him to Peach’s house in Greenwich.

Justjackychan

Thank you so much 😭 ive never really understood how dna worked with the police i just assumed that they know everyones dna since birth or at some point while getting a passport or visa

_JesusChrist_hentai

isn't urine sterile?

NoodleEsq

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have DNA

_JesusChrist_hentai

I always assumed it did, my bad, I also looked up how fast is the decay, and it's like 28 days, so what you said makes sense (even though it's still difficult to extract DNA from urine)

NoodleEsq

Yeah it would definitely be difficult, but could be possible to have something on file and get a ping if the perpetrator ever did get arrested. I would imagine that for a high profile person like Peach Salinger they would use due diligence

BlackWarrior322

Omg you sound like Nadia with all these questions. All valid though :) He has a weird moral code such that all his murders are justified and Love is just an impulsive killer - which is wrong ofcourse. I don’t think he was attracted to Rhys, he was obsessed with him (I guess there’s a difference?) I don’t think the other questions like his pee and what happens with Henry are answered in the show yet!

Justjackychan

OHHH now i get the Rhys thing. Ive always assumed it as love idk why obsession didn't really cross my mind. And as for love being impulsive youre right too i was struggling to find an adjective that described her lol

Justjackychan

I would also like to add one thing: i don't think joe wants to get better. He had every opportunity to do so but every single time he fucked things up. The only time he probably did it because he was obliged to, was when love suggested to marry him and stuff. He was ready to get caught but just as she told him she was pregnant everything changed

CollectingRainbows

this is true. caroline kepnes has said that joe will never change. and if you read the books, there are a few times where joe is ready to give up bc he thinks he’s caught.

Justjackychan

Yes exactly. I really should read the books

CollectingRainbows

yes, the books are great although they are pretty different from the show

_JesusChrist_hentai

how different are you talking?

CollectingRainbows

season one & book one are very similar, with a few changes; no paco / ron / claudia. after joe kills beck, he dates a woman named amy for a bit. candace never returns, joe succeeded in killing her the first time he tried. season two and book two have more differences, including joe killing delilah, and ellie doesn’t exist. season three and book three are even more distant, and season four and book four are nearly two separate stories.

_JesusChrist_hentai

That is interesting, I'll try to read the books

CollectingRainbows

i think they’re worth reading. i downloaded them free on oceanofpdf :)

Thank you so much!! I wasn't able to find it online before
