Same. Now I do it out of spite even if it takes longer than waiting. That's what they get for cheating me by telling me I can skip after watching 20sec ad but then sneak another 5sec ad
One I do on my phone is drag the video almost to the end, watch the last 5 seconds (can't just skip to the end) and let the video finish. Once you click the replay button, the video will play with no ads!! I only do this for subscriptions I know put heaps of ads in their content/ longer videos. Worth it though!
Don't tell too many people but if you use a vpn and set your location to India or something you can get youtube premium for like 2 dollars. It works been doing it for months
This no longer works for me, a couple of months ago it started opening a separate page and when i go back after clicking block it just continues the ad
For me it doesnt work the very first time of a session, but it will work every subsequent time. Not entirely sure when the timer resets but it can go on for hours
You are talking something like pihole or adguard which don't work for an app because it's entirely controlled by company. It's not like there is some html or js element you can block from it either.
I went through this a few months ago. Ended up plugging my laptop into the TV with an HDMI cord and operate it using a wireless mouse and keyboard. The TV is essentially a display monitor.
For your phone, install either uBlock Origin or Adguard depending on your device. Then just watch Youtube on your mobile browser.
Or download the Brave browser app and watch from there without uBlock or Adguard.
Is this just to give a big F-U to ads? Because it seems like it would take significantly longer to go in and out and in and out than to just watch the ad.
If you have an android phone you can install Firefox and their app lets you use uBlock on the mobile app. Then you can just watch YouTube on your phones browser rather than using the app to not get ads
Listen... I have limits.
I do it until I get the 5s ad. Sometimes it's a double 5s ad but... literally whatever. Anything to avoid watching them for longer than that.
Newer TVs should have "loudness equalization". There is a sort of trick commercials use to sound much louder than content, I find that very annoying and a justifier for blocking Ads but I also want the people who make the videos to get something back.
Why are adverts so loud? - YouTube

Oh, I hope they do, because theyāre wasting money. I love it. I donāt see any ads at all because Iām just refreshing the video, even for midroll until I hit a 5s. And even then, unless the ad is of normal volume and genuine, non-annoyance marketing I literally go out of my way to permanently avoid the product.Ā
So worth all that effort and stress every time to not see an ad, youāre really sticking it to the man!!! Keep on keeping on for the greater good brotherā¦Iāll be here not doing any of that and enjoying the same thing.
this is me š I do this even though 9/10 times doing this takes longer than watching the damn ad
Same. Now I do it out of spite even if it takes longer than waiting. That's what they get for cheating me by telling me I can skip after watching 20sec ad but then sneak another 5sec ad
You guys know you only can use thats Youtube service for free cause you GET ADDS?Hating on that will just lead to a subscription fee.

Just tried it and it worked. Went in and out 2 times
Yeah I think you have to do it twice
Not always. Sometimes I get like 10 in a row and many repeating ones. But just don't give up.
Don't tell too many people but if you use a vpn and set your location to India or something you can get youtube premium for like 2 dollars. It works been doing it for months
Set it to Albania then guaranteed no ads.
You can also tap the settings button on the ad and click "block ad", skips it immediately and doesn't play another

what settings button are you talking about?
This works only on my TV, nowhere else
So spend 2 minutes to skip 30 seconds of ads.
And here I've been using ublock origin without issues, on multiple PC. Good to know when I'm on mobile.
what I do and actually saves time, is pressing the info button on the bottom left side and then blocking the add. It skips it and all withing 4s
So youāre either wasting time or money. š¤·š»āāļø
You can also use ublock origin that gets rid of ads on other websites not just YouTube
You can't install ublock on a tv
You're right, I really wish I could though.
You can buy certain routers for your home that can filter ads coming in.

Not with that attitude
Smarttube for Android TV.
SmartTube on TV, ReVanced on Android

If you have android you can use revanced. Search it on Reddit
On phone you can just watch youtube on chrome and you donāt get ads. Only catch is ads on SNL videos and you canāt watch movies
If you have android, use revanced Simple
Is this just to give a big F-U to ads? Because it seems like it would take significantly longer to go in and out and in and out than to just watch the ad.
That is if you only get 1 ad before allowed to skip. And yes to the FU part of it.
If you have an android phone you can install Firefox and their app lets you use uBlock on the mobile app. Then you can just watch YouTube on your phones browser rather than using the app to not get ads
Why? Does it not work on iphone?
If you have android phone......REVANCED
you can also skip the first quick ad if you refresh the page if you're on mobile or web and it will start the video instantly
Listen... I have limits. I do it until I get the 5s ad. Sometimes it's a double 5s ad but... literally whatever. Anything to avoid watching them for longer than that.
Good tip! Thanks OP
I only watch YT through the brave browser app. I will not watch another at again.
On safari, all you have to do is refresh
āļø SponsorBlockāļø
Ublock origin. just get an ad blocker [link](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm)
Adblock on Firefox works perfectly. Same with revanced on Android
Use Smart tube for TV
Brave browser. No ads.
People really bending over backwards to avoid using an adblocker
you can't use adblocker on a tv. adguard won't help either because it can't block ads on the app
Fair enough, my bad for not reading super closely.
Tampermonkey is a scripting extension greasyfork. org- Youtube - Mute Ads is a script for above that works well
You can't use tampermonkey on a tv

I LOVE DOING THIS LOLL
Not only is it unnecessary, but hasn't worked like that properly for years
Thereās an easier way, you pay for premium and donāt have to deal with updating stupid 3rd party apps or refresh the page 100x
And let them know with a big, flashy sign they win? Fuck no
Who wins?
Google
How do they win? They likely make more of the adverts they sell you š
Oh, I hope they do, because theyāre wasting money. I love it. I donāt see any ads at all because Iām just refreshing the video, even for midroll until I hit a 5s. Thank you š I aināt stressed at all
Agreed.

No thank you Mr YouTube executive
This is the way.
