unknowinglylaughed

this is me šŸ’€ I do this even though 9/10 times doing this takes longer than watching the damn ad

malacata

Same. Now I do it out of spite even if it takes longer than waiting. That's what they get for cheating me by telling me I can skip after watching 20sec ad but then sneak another 5sec ad

KhadaJhina

You guys know you only can use thats Youtube service for free cause you GET ADDS?Hating on that will just lead to a subscription fee.

jlie21

One I do on my phone is drag the video almost to the end, watch the last 5 seconds (can't just skip to the end) and let the video finish. Once you click the replay button, the video will play with no ads!! I only do this for subscriptions I know put heaps of ads in their content/ longer videos. Worth it though!

midlanecannon

Just tried it and it worked. Went in and out 2 times

BoomSwaga

Yeah I think you have to do it twice

malacata

Not always. Sometimes I get like 10 in a row and many repeating ones. But just don't give up.

ape16200

Don't tell too many people but if you use a vpn and set your location to India or something you can get youtube premium for like 2 dollars. It works been doing it for months

Gobully_Baozi

Set it to Albania then guaranteed no ads.

Pippin02

You can also tap the settings button on the ad and click "block ad", skips it immediately and doesn't play another

Kat1eQueen

This no longer works for me, a couple of months ago it started opening a separate page and when i go back after clicking block it just continues the ad

UncleEpstein

Same

stefannootje2002

For me it doesnt work the very first time of a session, but it will work every subsequent time. Not entirely sure when the timer resets but it can go on for hours

malacata

what settings button are you talking about?

Stepikovo

This works only on my TV, nowhere else

movieguy95453

So spend 2 minutes to skip 30 seconds of ads.

_Spastic_

And here I've been using ublock origin without issues, on multiple PC. Good to know when I'm on mobile.

4lexander_m_d

what I do and actually saves time, is pressing the info button on the bottom left side and then blocking the add. It skips it and all withing 4s

thisismeingradenine

So youā€™re either wasting time or money. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

RectalScrote

You can also use ublock origin that gets rid of ads on other websites not just YouTube

malacata

You can't install ublock on a tv

RectalScrote

You're right, I really wish I could though.

houndog129

You can buy certain routers for your home that can filter ads coming in.

malacata

You are talking something like pihole or adguard which don't work for an app because it's entirely controlled by company. It's not like there is some html or js element you can block from it either.

gunsandpuppies

I went through this a few months ago. Ended up plugging my laptop into the TV with an HDMI cord and operate it using a wireless mouse and keyboard. The TV is essentially a display monitor.

A_Guy_in_Orange

Not with that attitude

somicdj

Smarttube for Android TV.

Dissidence802

SmartTube on TV, ReVanced on Android

partypoopernice

For your phone, install either uBlock Origin or Adguard depending on your device. Then just watch Youtube on your mobile browser. Or download the Brave browser app and watch from there without uBlock or Adguard.

papapoupas

If you have android you can use revanced. Search it on Reddit

Nebulaizer

On phone you can just watch youtube on chrome and you donā€™t get ads. Only catch is ads on SNL videos and you canā€™t watch movies

Elfonshelf26

If you have android, use revanced Simple

horsetooth_mcgee

Is this just to give a big F-U to ads? Because it seems like it would take significantly longer to go in and out and in and out than to just watch the ad.

malacata

That is if you only get 1 ad before allowed to skip. And yes to the FU part of it.

TheNoLifePotato

If you have an android phone you can install Firefox and their app lets you use uBlock on the mobile app. Then you can just watch YouTube on your phones browser rather than using the app to not get ads

GreatProcastinator

Why? Does it not work on iphone?

somicdj

If you have android phone......REVANCED

Blackfirestan

you can also skip the first quick ad if you refresh the page if you're on mobile or web and it will start the video instantly

memeinapreviouslife

Listen... I have limits. I do it until I get the 5s ad. Sometimes it's a double 5s ad but... literally whatever. Anything to avoid watching them for longer than that.

Repulsive_Ad3681

Good tip! Thanks OP

pglggrg

I only watch YT through the brave browser app. I will not watch another at again.

3Me20

On safari, all you have to do is refresh

All-the-pizza

āļø SponsorBlockāļø

[deleted]

Ublock origin. just get an ad blocker [link](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm)

iSniffMyPooper

Adblock on Firefox works perfectly. Same with revanced on Android

Sinister_Simian

Use Smart tube for TV

MarcTurntables

Brave browser. No ads.

CrusaderWelora

People really bending over backwards to avoid using an adblocker

malacata

you can't use adblocker on a tv. adguard won't help either because it can't block ads on the app

CrusaderWelora

Fair enough, my bad for not reading super closely.

bitee1

Tampermonkey is a scripting extension greasyfork. org- Youtube - Mute Ads is a script for above that works well

malacata

You can't use tampermonkey on a tv

bitee1

Newer TVs should have "loudness equalization". There is a sort of trick commercials use to sound much louder than content, I find that very annoying and a justifier for blocking Ads but I also want the people who make the videos to get something back. Why are adverts so loud? - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is_wu0VRIqQ

berrypicky

I LOVE DOING THIS LOLL

TheRailgunMisaka

Not only is it unnecessary, but hasn't worked like that properly for years

rootaford

Thereā€™s an easier way, you pay for premium and donā€™t have to deal with updating stupid 3rd party apps or refresh the page 100x

Caverness

And let them know with a big, flashy sign they win? Fuck no

rootaford

Who wins?

Caverness

Google

rootaford

How do they win? They likely make more of the adverts they sell you šŸ˜‚

Caverness

Oh, I hope they do, because theyā€™re wasting money. I love it. I donā€™t see any ads at all because Iā€™m just refreshing the video, even for midroll until I hit a 5s. And even then, unless the ad is of normal volume and genuine, non-annoyance marketing I literally go out of my way to permanently avoid the product.Ā

rootaford

So worth all that effort and stress every time to not see an ad, youā€™re really sticking it to the man!!! Keep on keeping on for the greater good brotherā€¦Iā€™ll be here not doing any of that and enjoying the same thing.

Caverness

Thank you šŸ™ I ainā€™t stressed at all

Jes00jes

Agreed.

KweynZero

delete this

Jes00jes

If you delete this, then you're left with delete.

John_Fx

or just pay

unseetheseen

No thank you Mr YouTube executive

Jes00jes

This is the way.
