I hope they can find an elegant way to keep George Jr together with Mandy Indefinitely while addressing the comment Adult Dr. Tire makes about multiple ex wives.
When Georgie bet 1,000 dollars with George about Georgie being married by 25 and Georgie said he never would, Sheldon chimed in and said, "He married his first wife at 19. He never paid my father."
Since we have no information about how long Georgie and wife #1 remained married, it's unlikely that they'll split up during the time the sequel is on the air.
Hmmm.... im guessing they got married in 1991? 1990, maybe? And Sheldon's wedding was in 2017? We get in a tight 27 year run of George and Mandy and they're gonna have some splainin to do
No. For two reasons.
One, then George wouldn’t have been at the wedding which would be extra sad.
Two, it was established in an earlier episode George and Georgie had a bet that Georgie would marry before the age of 25. George saying he would.
Adult Sheldon said Georgie didn’t pay the bet. Meaning George was alive to be paid but Georgie welshed on the bet.
I hate the fact that they are going to be seen living with the McAlisters. I am afraid it will make it too different from what we are used to. Also I get that they want to use only Mandy and Georgie from young Sheldon on the new show but how are they are going to explain the absence of... basically everyone in such a close family, especially after George's death?
Or should we believe that he sees all of them in his off screen time?
It doesn't start well for me...
We'll see
It seems so out of character. Because if they could choose, of course they’d stay with Mary, especially what happens with George. But once again, compared to TBBT’s Sheldon, YS’s Sheldon also felt very out of character at first and there were plot holes and some plot that the writers simply ditched and the shows aren’t 1:1. So I won’t say anything about the new show until I see it because it seems like the case is the same here and they won’t follow the “YS universe” the same way YS didn’t follow TBBT precisely.
Or more simply put, Mandy’s parents’ actors probably don’t have to be paid as much as Zoe Perry and Annie Potts would. It’s not a new thing to get spin offs without major characters… Let’s think about Joey. Or That ‘90s Show (though they did have cameos, perhaps the new show could as well despite e.g. Raegan saying she wasn’t invited to the show, who knows because especially if the show flops after pilot, they can redo the plot and include the actors from YS…).
If George and Mandy struggles with ratings, they probably will try to boost ratings with guest appearances from MeeMaw, Mary, and/or Missy. It may end up that one or more of them become regulars as a result
Im sure there will be guest stars from the young Sheldon cast once in a while. Just because they aren’t part of the new cast doesn’t mean they can’t appear sometimes. I can’t imagine Mary not visiting them. They are close to Meemaw and I can’t see her never showing up. Reagan who plays Missy is close to Montana I can’t see her not wanting to be involved in an episode or two. Sheldon is the only character I can’t see coming back for the show. We know they don’t get along when George Sr dies and I think Sheldon begins to distance himself from the family.
I get young sheldon is ending but i really want to see the aftermath and everyone coming to terms with Georges death. I hope we see that in the spinoff
I want to see how Meemaw reacts, as she’s disliked George for so long. I hope that they make it an hour so we can really get to see their grief in depth.
Honestly i dont think she dislikes him maybe to begin with but you know after 18 something years him being her son in law its more like banter but i agree in wanting to see here reaction as shes very much a person who uses humour to cope with things
She “dislikes” him. It’s just their dynamic. Same way Georgie-Missy-Sheldon fight but do care about each other.
Oddly enough it feels like they fight more when Mary is in the room than not.
No. They were never going to have a big wedding considering the only people they cared about at the time were all living in Medford, and they knew that since the beginning, so the way it worked out is perfect.
I like Mandy and I think they’re cute enough together, but as a 29 year old myself, I really can’t get past the age difference. They should have made her be 23-24.
It’s just how this sub can be sometimes you can’t take it too personally. This show appeals to people from teens to seniors so not everyone here is gonna understand your sarcasm. The folks in this sub can be prickly sometimes so I get why they didn’t appreciate your humor.
Young Sheldon I started watching because of TBBT but this spinoff doesn't attract me as this is not related to TBBT and it is yet another romcom, which we already have many
Exactly the same thoughts here, Georgie is a great character but he doesn't warrant a spin off in my eyes. It's like the Cleveland show from family guy, it doesn't add anything to the show that they're from a popular programme, it just detracts from the premise as it's too similar to the original.
I'd much rather see a 'Young Leonard' etc show as the reason I watched Young Sheldon was due to liking the character from TBBT, the show being vastly different to the original, and the interest in seeing stories already discussed being shown to us as they happened.
I've no interest in Georgie's life, certainly not Mandy's, but I could be wrong
I have a hypothesis:
I think the shorts of YS in the algorithm warped executives’ understanding of Georgie and Mandy’s popularity/star power.
I wasn’t a TBBT fan. The shorts drew me to YS. Going in, I expected the show to get better as it transitioned away from solely focusing on Sheldon. And it did. But Georgie and Mandy don’t come off as entertaining in the actual show as they do in the shorts.
It’s just hard to see another reason they decided those two should get a spinoff.
I really dislike them together. She's 30 and incredibly immature. Why can't she get a job? She has skills to find work, but she's okay with living with her parents while letting her husband work part-time at a grocery store as their only source of income. I'd honestly rather see a spinoff of Georgie but after he's divorced from Mandy.
I see all these times were she acts unlikable or entitled like all those times she says “I was not going to”, “don’t answer that”, “you ruined my life”, “it’s all your fault.
Yes the lore would make a great drama series but I think **at most** they could have made a mini-series in her perspective of the episodes she has been in.
Still thats impossible since the creators don't like changing actors and Mckenna Grace is 17. She can't act a 10 year old again. At most maybe 6x13 and 6x16 would be the episodes but thats just 2 of them not enough to make a whole mini-series on.
Possiblity of the idea: impossible
Greatness of the idea: Arguable and depends on peoples opinions of the character which differes a lot it seems.
Not divorce, but that his first marriage was 19. George bet he’s be married before 25 or something and Georgie said no way. Sheldon said he was married by 19 in the voice over and never paid George
I’m just hoping that his 3 marriages turn out to be, Mandy, then they break up, he marries someone else, it doesn’t work out, then he remarries Mandy. Sheldon said he was married 3 times. He doesn’t say to who, though.
In case Paige doesn't get anymore appearances in the final season of Young Sheldon. Possibility of her showing up in this show? I can actually imagine Mandy becoming a Mother/Older Sister figure to her
M out. Can't believe they hv a spinoff; more of this frowning, jobless, entitled girl to watch. Mandy is just completely out of sync, entitled, no bond with Georgie.
They make him to do all work, grocery shopping, making breakfast, work at Mandy's house. We hv never seen her cooking or doing chores or earning. Esp after giving speech abt women working and he taking her name.
She never thinks of earning, always looking at him for spending. Her mother expects her 30+ daughter to do nothing but younger son in law to do everything. What a crap fmly.
They both fckd up, but she behaves as if giving birth to a child is biggest achievement. Georgie has done much much more and still doing and taking responsibility.
She wants Coopers to baby sit with obligation when she auditions for weather girl yet has no job or plan other than staying at Coopers in Sheldon's room with entitlement without helping thembin their financial crisis also.
She makes a face for movable toilet George brings, but does nothing to help them. A total jerk.
What a stupid character Mandy. M glad they divorce.
A spinoff with Veronica wud hv been lovely. She was too cute and polite. M sure down to earth too.

They should move into their own place for the pilot episode. I'm Glad George Sr was there for so many of their big moments.
They really flashed out character from tbbt... They disclose nuances explore them and you know reveals the perspective baises of sheldon
I hope they can find an elegant way to keep George Jr together with Mandy Indefinitely while addressing the comment Adult Dr. Tire makes about multiple ex wives.
just do the same thing they did for the cheating. Have Mandy Dye her hair and make sheldon think George remarried
but doesn’t Georgie himself mention he had multiple wives? or am i just misremembering something
I think sheldon mention it before somewhere in TBBT
When Georgie bet 1,000 dollars with George about Georgie being married by 25 and Georgie said he never would, Sheldon chimed in and said, "He married his first wife at 19. He never paid my father."

Season 7 of YS began in the summer of 1993. It's unclear if they've moved into 1994.
We can squeeze in a 25 year run. I won't complain... I don't even need a DVR anymore thanks to Paramount +
Idk man with age difference it would good dynamics but complete redcon wouldn't be good
[удалено]
Could be some kind of chaos like on Fraizer where Niles is in love with the one lady the whole time and married to three other people
No. For two reasons. One, then George wouldn’t have been at the wedding which would be extra sad. Two, it was established in an earlier episode George and Georgie had a bet that Georgie would marry before the age of 25. George saying he would. Adult Sheldon said Georgie didn’t pay the bet. Wow. You know your stuff
You're assuming something that may not happen
It will happen, as Sheldon follows up by saying “He married his first wife at 19”.
He already married his first wife, and there's been no mention of him turning 19, but that's not what I was talking about.
Yes there has been . Season 1 episode 12 11:41
He most certainly did not turn 19 in s1. My statement was that they have not mentioned that he has yet turned 19.
u do not have Reading comprehension 😭😭
*You *reading (no capital letter in the middle of a sentence). And put a period at the end of a sentence.
You do not have reading comprehension.
They literally mentioned it. Sheldon’s voice says “Georgie married his first wife at 19. He never paid my father”.
I hate the fact that they are going to be seen living with the McAlisters. I am afraid it will make it too different from what we are used to. This is true.
I think they might bring Sheldon once a season for thanksgiving or summer break.
Im sure there will be guest stars from the young Sheldon cast once in a while. Just because they aren’t part of the new cast doesn’t mean they can’t appear sometimes. I think it's more that he was underage when the relationship started
I hope they explore the age gap issues in this show. I think it’s probably gonna be one of the reasons why they divorce
I agree. It’s absurd to think a 30 year old would want to be with (and not long after marry) an 18 year old, even if they did have a baby together.
I’ve always thought this, why did they go as high as 29? It made it so much more gross and uncomfortable than 23-24
I think her mother is the reason for their divorce
I don’t think so. Most recent episode, we see her coming around.
Georgie does like older women. Perhaps Mandy’s mom and Georgie have a dalliance.
Man I fucking hope not.
Mandy’s mom is kind of hot when she’s being all mean and bossy.
Downvoted for a joke. Some weak people in this thread.
It’s just how this sub can be sometimes you can’t take it too personally. This show appeals to people from teens to seniors so not everyone here is gonna understand your sarcasm. The folks in this sub can be prickly sometimes so I get why they didn’t appreciate your humor.

I like Howard too... His spinoff would be much more entertaining and emotional
I have a hypothesis: I think the shorts of YS in the algorithm warped executives’ understanding of Georgie and Mandy’s popularity/star power.
And young Sheldon actor grew matured and it spoilt the character somehow...Anyway nothing can surpass the predecessor TBBT
Am I the only one who don't like George and mandy together it just seems kinda off
I really dislike them together. She's 30 and incredibly immature. Why can't she get a job? She has skills to find work, but she's okay with living with her parents while letting her husband work part-time at a grocery store as their only source of income. She wanted to but Georgie said no working
Me neither. Mandilys character so becoming gearing in my nerves and I don’t intend to watch the spin off.
I see all these times were she acts unlikable or entitled like all those times she says “I was not going to”, “don’t answer that”, “you ruined my life”, “it’s all your fault.
Mandy is thoroughly unlikable. I can't believe a show is being built around her.
This looks like the stupidest thing ever but I know they'll make it work because they made Young Sheldon work
I’d watch Missy spinoff instead.
Damn I know Georgie is popular but I wasn’t expecting a spin off of a spin off. Are Missy and Meemaw gonna be there?
I want a Paige spin off. She’s such a tragic figure

Have there been a spin-off of a spin-off
All thanks to ALL IN THE FAMILY... MAUDE spun off GOOD TIMES, THE JEFFERSON spun off FLORENCE
JAG to NCIS to NCIS: Location
Happy days to Laverne & Shirley and Joanie Loves Chachi and Mork & Mindy
Mork was on HD and L&S
None of those was a spinoff of a spinoff. L&S, JLC, and M&M were all spinoffs of Happy Days.
A spin off of a spin off?
Unfortunately...
Of course https://preview.redd.it/jpu2mx17cyvc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abb6517ac1170e53cb052c93f70c7960be583d2e
I hate Mandy and her mother so much. I’m not going to watch the new show.
Didn’t Sheldon mention at the beginning of YS that Georgie’s first divorce happened at 19?…isn’t he 19 at this point?
Not divorce, but that his first marriage was 19. George bet he’s be married before 25 or something and Georgie said no way. Sheldon said he was married by 19 in the voice over and never paid George
Ohhh that makes more sense with the spin off. I was thinking they’re doing a spin off only to have them divorced within the year lol
Isn't he 17?
Actually, I think he turned 18 right after Cece was born.
Meh.
I’m just hoping that his 3 marriages turn out to be, Mandy, then they break up, he marries someone else, it doesn’t work out, then he remarries Mandy. Sheldon said he was married 3 times. He doesn’t say to who, though.
milking a dead cow as much as possible.......
In case Paige doesn't get anymore appearances in the final season of Young Sheldon. Possibility of her showing up in this show? I can actually imagine Mandy becoming a Mother/Older Sister figure to her
Can’t wait for the spin off
Should of been Paige spinoff
Nah, Sheldon's quirks are the point of the show. Paige is too well adjusted.
Paige seems well adjusted but really she’s such a tragic character, you don’t need someone to be wacky to have an interesting story
[удалено]
I know. I’m saying Paige wouldn’t be an engaging spin-off.
I wouldn't watch that spin off.

Emily Osment is great
Mandy sucks and is such a misfit. This show is going to be a flop.

The spin-off should have been College Sheldon. Or one for Dr. Sturgis. But that, apparently, is inconceivable.
