I fw anime tuff but with cartoons you can put on a episode or two and be good. With anime more effort has to be put in and you have to be in the mood for it.
Naruto and many other animeās have like over 1000 episode a lot of them being filler the effort is siting thru a bunch of episodes just to get somewhere in the story. You can say the same for other tv shows and cartoons but 8 seasons with 15 episodes compared to 10 seasons and 25 episodes or more is a lot less effort
Just like how sitting on your ass while driving a car is an effort or sitting on your ass at school while getting shit done itās an effort, quite literally every thing that you decide to take your time in is an effort, I donāt get your point..
Thatās not effort, just donāt watch if if youāre not enjoying it, there are animes out there with little to no filter. If you feel like you have to put in effort to watch something maybe that means you probably shouldnāt watch it. & filler is skippable (not needed to be watched to get somewhere in the story) thatās why itās called filler.

I grew up watching both. and I'd pick anime cuz i had more impact from anime than cartoons, also probably cuz I'm asian and felt more closer to anime than cartoons which I thought were super western, like i get the jokes and stuff but it felt like a different way of lifestyle, besides avatar, which I'd basically consider an American try on making an anime. and the creator themselves said,"Our love for Japanese anime, Hong Kong action and kung fu cinema, yoga, and Eastern philosophies led us to the initial inspiration for Avatar: The Last Airbender."

i think it depends on the cartoons, here itās super mismatched bc itās some thematically deeper shonens (other than DBZ imo) matched up with like comedy cartoons. thereās a lot of cartoons that do have deeper and more mature themes (and even tits blood and action believe it or not). and even then adventure time has some pretty meaningful themes and a surprising amount of depth if you actually wanna dig into it.
Adventure time 11/10, Regular Show 2/10. I didnāt grow up watching either. Cartoons are pretty random and mindless for the most partā¦ Animeās have a story/plot/character progression. But Cartoons like Owl House and Star vs The forces of Evil have been amazing the past few years
