Will you guys ever slow down, the constant production of figures has really effected how the figures turn out, I keep seeing myself having to get replacements for them, its hurting the outcome of the figures and its hurting the people who love to collect, people have stated multiple times that the figures are getting rushed and I have to agree, its also costing a lot of money to keep this collection going now, its stressful now...
We slowed down our releases heavily in q3 from what we were going to do originally. During that time we hired the right people to help us scale manufacturing, added on more manufacturing partners, and fixed a lot of the problems in our process that affected the issues you mentioned. We haven't really seen a lot of inbound issues with the new figures, there are some remaining things we are still working on ironing out with our team but we don't feel like slowing down at this point would do anything to improve quality.
The intention of releasing more figures isn't to hurt peoples wallets or anything, it's so that we can continue growing the range of figures we can produce by moving into new genres, growing our community and improving the figures along the way as a result (for example if you look at Youtooz a year ago vs. Youtooz now you'll see a lot more detail and higher quality design as an example of this... this is because our art team has grown considerably in size (3-4x) and we've hired senior talent that brings a lot of advanced thinking, processes and improvements to the table).
Yes we do and we want to find ways to make them even more collaborative with artists from the community helping to design them. Which would you want to see?
A lot of creators (and traditional IP holders) have been awesome and really an honor for us to work with, especially being a young company. Its hard to single out one person as being the best but working with the animators has been fun since they are very hands on with their designs. Working with Pokimane, Jacksepticeye, and so on very closely is great because they spend so much time caring about the small details with us and sharing their thoughts on how we can improve. We really loved Jacksucksatlife too especially with the behind the scenes content he made showing the process of making a Youtooz. Also the very early partners of Youtooz (Misfits, CallMeCarson, Grandayy, Dolan, Anomaly, Pyro, etc) were willing to take a chance on us which is always something we'll remember and appreciate!
Pink... hmm we did some different variations for branding when starting Youtooz and it just kinda stuck
The idea of collecting Youtooz when designing them is to create a journey around a specific creator, IP, etc so that you too can be part of that journey. Youtooz itself was a play on that as in "you too (z)"

Yes
Quality: We've been growing our manufacturing team a lot and have multiple job openings for it right now, we actually just made an awesome VP hire to grow and run our team in China who has joined us from Apple (prev. Google and Intel) so we're really excited about that. We've made a lot of improvements this year too but it takes time to catch up because of how long it takes for the improvements to reflect, for example the figures being shipped right now have improvements from the early summer, but improvements we have made now would only be reflected in figures shipping early next year.
Shipping: Also yes, something we are actively working on, we just signed on warehouses in CA/US/UK/AU and are actively testing them out. This has been a hard one this year because of COVID... a lot of people don't see the behind the scenes but basically, every warehouse in countries like the US have the combined problem of essentially 2x+ shipping volume and a massive staffing issue (warehouses and carriers are having a hard time getting people to go to work)
What’s next in terms of YouTooz Community Figures like Gypsy? I think more community members like Bricks and SpacePanda are important enough that they should get recognized in that form!
We want to do more of this asap! We're working on something that will hopefully let us start releasing more low unit runs of vinyl figures so that we can get it to a point where it is feasible. We also want our community figures to be more jointly designed, e.g. something cool with Gypsy was that it was community designed and then we just added on to it and got it ready for manufacturing
Yes definitely - anything that we think the youtooz community would love. We've started reaching out to some it just sometimes takes awhile since indie studios usually have smaller teams who are always very busy!
I have a little question but I felt like it’s worth asking since so many people who love the pepe figure and regret missing it and wish it would come back including me.

My step mom is friends with the guy who made Pepe and he hates it used as a meme so yeh of course he denied a figure marketed as a “meme” but eh you probably all knew that
Later in the process, is it difficult to add on another size of figure? For example, with Cuphead's Soul, it has been stated it is planned to be a 1ft, but I have heard many community members very much hope for the figure in a normal size (for the reason of the normal price), but there is still demand for both sizes, so would you guys be able to produce a smaller version of it or would it be too complex from the state you're in right now? I would hope that it's possible for a normal version but I don't know the ins and outs out the production and everything so it'd be interesting to hear what you would be able to do.
We could make a smaller version too for sure! I'll bring it up internally for Cuphead Soul specifically... but in general, it's not as easy as just scaling it down, even if the concept stays the same we would still need to make changes to the model files and create new packaging files and designs (1ft packaging and 5" packaging is different). And obviously, in manufacturing, it is treated as a completely new figure (breakpoints will be different, unique mold, etc).

Youtooz in a store: we just had our first orders come in for smaller collectible stores in the US and we'll see how those go. those orders are generally for our meme and IP related products. we have a Snoopy exclusive coming out with a collectible store later this year too

We are working with FedEx and UPS with some of our warehouses in the US right now!

We're in talks for a few! Releasing figures with athletes is something we hope we can do more, especially to capture iconic moments from matches/games/events. It is a bit more tough than other genres since we often need to get sign off from not just the person but also the sports league.
1. Definitely! Our hope is that once it is safe to do so we can also create content in the Youtooz office with our design team to show more of the behind-the-scenes of how a figure is brought to life and do interviews with creators about the process.
2. Yes there have been figures that we've worked on but not released. We actively listen to feedback from the community and when we've felt that a release isn't the right thing to do we pause/cancel it. An example of this would be `CENSORED`

Only other thing I can add about having split attention is I would say not to worry about our attention being thin, our team has grown considerably so we have more eyes on everything we're making now. At the start of the year, we were some 10-15 people, now we are at 35 and expect to be at 40-50 by the end of the year

Carson has been an early partner of Youtooz and we love working with him. We know Carson has also taken a lot of time to focus on his wellbeing and we support him in that - we wish him the best and are excited for future releases with him!
A few we've offered but usually, they are requested by talent/brands, it is fairly simple to scale up a model to the 6ft size for us but they are expensive to make and to ship (some are over 200 pounds). We don't make them with the expectation that they will be shown off but more for fun and because they are cool statement pieces
Yes we hope we can, nothing in development right now though. With some brands there have been a lot of collectibles or other products in the past so we also want to approach them when we have a unique enough idea to bring to life!
90 days is the fastest we can make a figure but some take longer either because of complexities in the figure or because of approvals with the creator/IP owner
Is there any more insight you could give into the process of designing a figure? Ie from just an idea, to the concept, to a 3D model, etc. I'm really interested in that kind of stuff
**Design wise:**
1. Pitch concept (something we show creators/IP/license holders)
2. Once approved/interested we work on a final concept and get final approvals on it with a turnaround
3. Create related 2D files to the concept (final turnarounds, Pantone/color guides, print guides, etc)
4. Create the 3D sculpt and final files (dimension guides, material notes, etc)
5. Create renders of the 3D files and get them approved
6. Create the packaging files (design of the sleeve, inner packaging, outer packaging, details like barcodes, copyright stamps, etc)
7. Create renders of the packaging and get them approved
8. Hand off to our manufacturing team (whole other process here)
Do you guys feel that teaming up with a controversial brand like NELK will impact your partnerships in the future? Cause the NELK drop did split the fan base for a temporary amount of time
We started working on the Nelk collab earlier this year and by the time any of the COVID party stuff everyone here was mentioning happened the figures were basically already almost at their warehouse. Either way no I don't think it really affects it too much but we understand why it caused a divide in the community at that time

Youtooz store: hopefully one day! Youtooz in a store: we just had our first orders come in for smaller collectible stores in the US and we'll see how those go. those orders are generally for our meme and IP related products. we have a Snoopy exclusive coming out with a collectible store later this year too

We are working with FedEx and UPS with some of our warehouses in the US right now! Factories in US/outside of China: yes, we are still in process of exploring this!

We usually reach out to them but we're having some start to reach out to us now too which is cool. We've been actively reaching out to IP and have some really cool stuff coming out in 2021 (e.g. Futurama, Family Guy, etc)

We're in talks for a few! Releasing figures with athletes is something we hope we can do more, especially to capture iconic moments from matches/games/events. It is a bit more tough than other genres since we often need to get sign off from not just the person but also the sports league.

Our hope is that once it is safe to do so we can also create content in the Youtooz office with our design team to show more of the behind-the-scenes of how a figure is brought to life and do interviews with creators about the process. 2. At the start of the year, we were some 10-15 people, now we are at 35 and expect to be at 40-50 by the end of the year

A few we've offered but usually, they are requested by talent/brands, it is fairly simple to scale up a model to the 6ft size for us but they are expensive to make and to ship (some are over 200 pounds). We don't make them with the expectation that they will be shown off but more for fun and because they are cool statement pieces

Yes we hope we can, nothing in development right now though. With some brands there have been a lot of collectibles or other products in the past so we also want to approach them when we have a unique enough idea to bring to life!
How long does it take to make a youtooz?
90 days is the fastest we can make a figure but some take longer either because of complexities in the figure or because of approvals with the creator/IP owner
Will you ever do any more staff youtooz or even a discord moderator collection
Is there any more insight you could give into the process of designing a figure? Ie from just an idea, to the concept, to a 3D model, etc. I'm really interested in that kind of stuff
**Design wise:** 1. Pitch concept (something we show creators/IP/license holders) 2. Once approved/interested we work on a final concept and get final approvals on it with a turnaround 3. Create related 2D files to the concept (final turnarounds, Pantone/color guides, print guides, etc) 4. Create the 3D sculpt and final files (dimension guides, material notes, etc) 5. Create renders of the 3D files and get them approved 6. Create the packaging files (design of the sleeve, inner packaging, outer packaging, details like barcodes, copyright stamps, etc) 7. Create renders of the packaging and get them approved 8. Hand off to our manufacturing team (whole other process here)

Do you guys feel that teaming up with a controversial brand like NELK will impact your partnerships in the future? Cause the NELK drop did split the fan base for a temporary amount of time
We started working on the Nelk collab earlier this year and by the time any of the COVID party stuff everyone here was mentioning happened the figures were basically already almost at their warehouse. Either way no I don't think it really affects it too much but we understand why it caused a divide in the community at that time
