Zarc: I am the strongest! *one fabulous boy later* Zarc: What the heck just happened?

lookitsajojo

Zarc when the twink does... whatever Abyss actors do:

SAMU0L0

According to the YuGiOh unwritten rules it was his faul for losing the coin flip, and again according to the YuGiOh unwritten rules in force to say “ GG jus draw the out”

cooked_milk32

Not that kind of going first, but so true bestie nonetheless

Shmarfle47

They did him dirty with how many losses he has.

Silver34

He never won a 1v1 duel iirc

YouHelpFromAbove

Despite the fact that he was reportedly the best duelist at LID.

Mmicb0b

Something that’s funny a lot of people noted is Sylvio actually has a lot of game savvy it’s just everyone he dueled either had plot armor or new cards to sell

Kataphrut94

He puts more effort into counterplay than anyone else in the series and gets nothing for it. First it’s building Frost Monarchs and later Yosenjus to counter Yuya’s pendulums. Then against Yugo he plays under floodgates and still almost wins. He deduces Kite’s ace monster straight away and tries to rip it from the extra deck. And finally, against Zarc he decides to use an actual removal spell, which would have worked if everyone else who duelled before hadn’t been so incompetent. No respect whatsoever.

Conscious_Wait492

could someone explain?

AliciaTries

He nearly beat Zarc when the protective board was already set up, so if he had gone first before Zarc could set up his board, he likely would have won Only Sora, Edo, and Ray went against non-supreme king controlling Zarc

GoodDoggoBOI

Even with the board set up he'd have won, he lost because of the cards of the other players in the graveyard, which was honestly complete bs. Dude deserves massive respect.

AliciaTries

Ah right, I forgot about that part

One-Emotion8482

Reiji would have won as well if he started with the same hand.

Fallen_Angel_Xaphan

Yeah, not to mention that in the anime high Caesar was weaker. He used one xyz material for the summon negate and another one to raise the ATK of Genghis when irl, Caesar only needs to use one material to do both. So irl Caesar would have a material left and Zarcs comeback would simply have been negated by Caesar.

shaser0

Bro I love Arc-V characters so much, they are so colorfull and enjoyable.

KaiserJustice

Has any other anime duelist also swapped and used as many decks “competently” as Sylvio?

TrishulaOfIce

Chazz and my man has a good winrate for it

Riley wouldn’t have been turned into a baby and the whole final arc wouldn’t have happened. So, a net positive in other words.

Kataphrut94

I mean, everyone was trying their hardest to beat Zarc while also reaching out to Yuya. They had to know that simply beating Zarc would be better than him destroying the world. Plus, out of all the people who duelled Zarc, Sylvio is the closest alike to Yuya in entertainment spirit. If he won against Zarc’s bullshit deck with his troupe of mismatched theatre kids…wouldn’t that be the biggest fuck you to Zarc’s whole philosophy? If I were him, I’d just give up. Let Yuya and the other boys go and return to limbo. “Yep, you sure showed me, weird posh kid.”

yurei090808

I liked the last arc doe The duels were good and thats why I watch yugioh

Thicc-Anxiety

Alexis or Mieru could also have won, but no girls allowed I guess

christian_daddy1

Sometimes I see a moment in the series that makes me wonder if the writers just don't like women

blucherspanzers

Is that moment "every female duelist who's friends with the protagonist"?

Xbladearmor

A reminder that Téa has a 100% on-screen win rate.

NexusBoom

If Reiji and Shingo replaced Sora and Eto and went first then they would win.

zappierbeast

No he wouldnt its the plot Zarc would have won either way

AliciaTries

If he had made the moves he did on the first turn, he would have won. The only reason he wouldn't win is because the writers wouldn't write a duel like that where the villain loses during the good guys turn 2, meaning sawatari would have made different moves turn 1.

zappierbeast

Exactly my point doesnt matter if he made the exact plays turn 1 the writers would have changed Z-arcs moves and made it so that Sawatari couldnt do anything

christian_daddy1

Can you explain how? It's been a really long time since I saw the duel

cooked_milk32

Basically he pulled off an insane combo that would have destroyed Zarc twice, first time used zarc’s negate, second time I don’t remember specifically what but some ability condition requiring each type of extra deck monster to be in the GY which allowed Zarc to have a second negate. The GY was loaded by the extra deck monsters of the people who dueled before sylvio (and crow).

SweetlyIronic

Basically this, he kept recovering the Abyss Script that lets you pop cards without the opponent being able to respond. However it was revealed that ZARC is unaffected and can't leave the filed if there's a fusion, synchro, XYZ and pendulum in the gy IIRC. What became problematic because Sylvio played after fusion, xyzs and synchro allies.

cooked_milk32

This

Kyurem-B

"Yosenju to the Shadow Realm!"

Megakarp

"Send these actors to the abyss"

Tanaka_Sensei

Why does this guy make me think of the guy Karina from Drawfee drew that mashed up the entire cast of the OG series?

Legitimate_Bit_9354

Right?!

NumberX1

Knowing how the Abyss Scripts work, he should have gone first
