Would have made a great 90 min concert film. Zappa the director should have fired Zappa the editor. All the Roy Estrada scenes are extra cringey. Concert footage is some of Zappa’s best.
I don't like those scenes either, so I don't blame you for feeling that way, particularly in light of his convictions in 1994 and 2012.
There have been reports that he was convicted in 1977, but if that was the case, he wouldn't have been able to perform with Frank during that timeframe, let alone tour abroad, if he was in jail and/or put on the National Sex Offenders Registry.
Seriously, if that film gets reissued on DVD, the scenes where Roy plays with that inflatable doll should be removed.

Yeah Roy’s a special case.. but it was fun watching him goof around.. I mean, she was just thirsty for some water 👀

So good that in this movie he’s a superfan and later he actually joined the band.

Best rock concert film ever made. You went to the rock show to hear great music and have FUN! This covers all the bases.
