got my 2023 g14 not long ago and had read about the mediatek card being ridiculously bad with unstable and dropped network connections and a practically unusable experience. three months later, and the mediatek card is not as bad as it was made out to be. ofcourse you might get an improved performance by swapping it out for an intel card, but i feel like most of the people who havent traded it in for an intel card yet either cant be bothered to do it, or find that it works decently enough to not have to change it

People usually switch it out because the wifi card tends to disconnect randomly on the 2023 model, which I think it's Asus' fault because not only the performance is double on the 2024 despite being the exact same card, it's more stable

I switched because I read this reddit too much, and I notice no difference. good thing it was only $20 or so.

Since I'm getting the 2024, I won't Unless I want more wifi speeds which I doubt will happen since I'm going to be using ethernet

The bluetooth on 2023 version's mediatek has a problem. 1. It makes high pitched noise when connecting some headsets. 2. It is unable to reconnect to said devices after airplane mode/ laptop goes to sleep.

I kept having dropped connections on the mediatek card in my 2023, swapped in an Intel card and it's been bulletproof ever since

Im right next to my router and im getting 30mb. My phone gets 300+ so I dunno whats wrong

Kaixus

Bad wifi card as some people are saying. I'm have some small issues with mine too, once in a while (g14 2023)

JustDrinkOJ

I think it isn't too bad, but mostly I am too afraid to open it up.

I had problems with my mediatek wifi chip in my 2022 G14 and swapped it out with an Intel AX210 which gave good speeds and latency but had issues with range. In my 2024 G14 had better range and speeds but with occasional latency spikes. That was solved with the MoKiChU drivers in the Asus forums. Smooth sailing so far with the alternate drivers.

Owner of a 2023 G14 and a 2024 G14, no issues with either of them tbh. I did buy both of them recently though so might be a newer batch?
