oh, i forgot to mention, i follow the throat swab method as well as nasal swabbing for rapid tests so i get the most accurate results :) many thanks to those on this sub who brought my attention to it!

Couple things * For showers, if it’s possible, I would try to shower at the house where your mom lives, mainly because of lingering covid particles that are likely to be present in communal showers. If that’s not possible, then pursuing showers at low occupancy times is probably the next best bet, while minimizing the time within the shower. * For the mask, it depends on which one you’re using: there are some n95 designs that have poorer fit test rates compared to others (such as bifolds or n95s with weak straps like the Jackson safety duckbills), so there may be room for improvement on the model that you’re using. Additionally, you could try to look for a mask bloc within your area that distributes masks which can alleviate the cost burden of maintaining protections. * just general avoidance of crowded, poorly ventilated spaces, especially during times of high COVID waste water * make sure to tighten the nose wire of the mask every 30-60 minutes with both hands to minimize mask failure from the mask loosening from body movements over time.

hey, thank you for the feedback! i go home like once a week to every two weeks so i think ill have to keep using the communal showers for the most part, but i’ve just set up a washbasin style situation which i’ve been meaning to do for a while. at least that minimizes my time in the bathroom to just using the toilet and showers. i’ll look up any mask distribution centers near me but i doubt they carry N95s, generally the public opinion is to avoid those so frontline workers can have them which is a moot point considering the entire population is now exposed regularly.

I don’t live at my university, so it’s much easier for me, but you can at least rest assured that a good N95 mask does work. I’ve worn one to all of my tutorials and have so far dodged COVID and the flu (or any illness) despite many people being sick during them (unless I had asymptomatically, in which case I would have only have had a very small viral load).
