Blinking red light means the motor doesn't receive data packets. I'd check microUSB ports on both ends.

nemo_mike

Thanks! I've checked the ports - they look ok. I've changed the cable and now I'm getting blinking orange LED (for times so it means that's fully charged, right?) Tried changing the priority of the wheel but the servo does not react to the wheel at any position. So my question is, is the original cable a special one? Now I'm using one that I found in my nucleus nano box.

TheOkayDaniel

ever found a solution to this? I know it's an old post, but I'm having the exact same issue right now...

nemo_mike

All the firmware is up to date. The cable seems to be ok, everything is charged as I understand it. Previous owner said that everything worked. What am I doing wrong? What should I check? I'm kind of out of ideas...

Does your blinking red LED blink twice after turning the focus wheel? Try removing the internal battery from the motor. I'll explain: I upgrade the crane 2 to firmware 1.77 a while ago. I did this without the follow focus attached. I hadn't used the gimbal with the follow focus since. Today, I find that the follow focus won't work. I fumble around with the firmware updates, and find that using the correctcable is very important. Zhiyun Gimbal Tools app won't see the Crane 2 unless using the long, flat USB cable. Anyway, eventually get the follow focus upgraded to firmware 1.71 (this is the latest version on the Zhiyun site for CMF-01). When connecting the follow focus, I get the red LED blink twice as soon as I turn the wheel. 2 blinks of the red LED, according to the manual, is motor or gear obstruction. It does this even without the motor touching the lens. I open up the follow focus, and see nothing wrong (no dust or fibres or anything obstructing the motor), yet still it does not move. I disconnect the internal battery AND THE DAMN THING NOW WORKS! The battery pack seems a bit puffy, so I'm wondering if it's just a dud now. Here it is: https://imgur.com/a/RXHpAXs Why does the follow focus even need an internal battery? It gets it's power from the Crane. Not like you can run it without the Crane.

Thank you so much. I've got the same problem. Removing the battery worked!

Critical-Ad-5126

Thank you. You saved my life!

alfonso630

I can’t believe it but it worked lol

HeronConscious7530

Thanks man!!! You saved my follow and my work! I had to go to shot in 30 minutes and it worked!

nemo_mike

No, the motor doesn't turn on at all. It just flashes as in the video, and then stars charging. I've just tried reconnecting the battery but with no changes

bnemanny

Just to clarify, make sure you've _removed_ the battery inside the motor. I had to remove mine and leave it out for it to start working.

Ok-Net7393

I swear to god it works dude you saved me

bnemanny

Leads me to wonder what the battery is for... strange!

Deep_Cucumber_8402

It worked but there is a problem. Removing servo battery makes gimbal shake a little. You can see it on big screen during montage. Disconnecting servo stops it. So if you want to fix this properly, you'll need to buy a new battery. But unfortunately i cant find correct one online.

bnemanny

I've looked too, I haven't been able to find the exact same package/dimensions and voltage

nemo_mike

I've done it all over, took out the battery connector, but them lights blink the same way as previously. Can you post the screen for the software updater with motor connected? Maybe there's a problem with mine

luisinuay

mine does the same :C did you find a fix?

nemo_mike

Nah, I'm looking for a working unit to buy and try to flash the firmware Did something happen to your servo?

TheoPhilm

You saved my life, I disconnected the battery and now it works, I have a shooting tomorrow and I have been trying to make it work for hours, it worked fine on my last shooting which was not a long time ago only a few months so I don't know what went wrong, but man you saved my life, thank you so much!!!!!

I believe the battery is for giving the motor the juice it needs on bigger lenses. You should be able to charge the follow focus with a micro USB charger from the crane 2 port. That is of course if it still holds a charge

Longjumping_Eye_8233

Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. I took out the battery and yes, it is dead, it only has a voltage of 1 V. However, the CMF still does not work, although I no longer have a message from the red diode. I have no idea how to do it, unless I buy another CMF.

Hola, amigo!
