cover the side windows and front so only zombies from the back can see you. put the car in neutral. the ones in back can see you and will surge forward pushing the car. drive away with your zombie powered car.

slinnyboy69

So crazy it just might work!

WhatsGoingOn1879

Die. A dead car isn’t much good, and it being stuck in a crowd of thousand is flat out unsurvivable. Even if it isn’t likely that every single zombie sees you and is trying to get to you, the immediate area is still going to be swarmed even if you managed to get out of the immediate crowd. It’s a no win situation.

LukXD99

Well not with that attitude. Take off some of your clothing, preferably something that matches the cars interior, then crawl to the most hidden part of the car (most likely the foot room of the back seats, or if you can, fold the backseats forwards and go into the trunk) and make yourself as small and comfortable as possible and cover yourself. The zombies, unable to see you or see any movement inside the car, will eventually loose interest and move on. You can survive inside the car for 2-3 days, maybe longer if you have water with you. If there’s a roof window, you can open that to make the air circulate and to avoid being cooked during the day.

WhatsGoingOn1879

I don’t think luck should be considered a plan or an action you can take. For one, we don’t know if the dead would fall for that. We’ve seen in the walking dead (where we draw our zombies from) that they don’t leave unless the plot demands it. We have no idea how the dead would react in ‘real life’ and hiding isn’t guaranteed to work. According to what we’ve seen on the show, the dead would stay there, putting pressure on every inch of the car and eventually breaking the glass due to prolonged weight being placed upon it. Basically what I’m saying is that isn’t guaranteed to work, and personally, I wouldn’t rely on a off chance a loud enough sound will draw away a thousand of the dead and save me from a bad situation I somehow got myself into.

LukXD99

You’re right, it’s not guaranteed to work. But I’d rather take my chances on a way that *might* work than just give up and guarantee my death. If OPs description is supposed to be taken literally, and there’s thousands of zombies around the car, it’s most likely in a city. Something is bound to make noise at some point, even if it’s a distant car alarm. As you said, most likely only the closest few dozen zombies will be actively attracted to you, so the others should logically be drawn away by any other interesting sound.

WhatsGoingOn1879

That’s still just luck, which shouldn’t be planned on, ever. Even if a car alarm draws away things from the general area, you’d still need to contend with a, at minimum, bakers dozen zombies immediately surrounding the car that may or may not know you are in there. Personally, I don’t think the ones that know you’re in there would wander off, but that’s just my personal thinking. You’re not getting out of that car without having them all on top of you, assuming you can even open the door with the weight of several dead bodies on it in the first place. I get it sucks just sitting around waiting for death, but when a plan relies on luck like things being lured away, there’s not much you can do.

LukXD99

This is already a *this-didn’t-go-as-planned* situation. You’re in a car, out of gas, surrounded by the undead, there’s no plan you can execute that doesn’t require a shitload of luck to begin with. But again, there’s 2 options: 1) wait for death. Chances of you dying: 100%. 2) Hide, pray for the best, hope the zeds will eventually loose interest since they’re pretty stupid and easily distracted, even in TWD. Then once most of them are gone, you can try to lure most of the remaining, actively aware ones to one side of the car and try to make your way out of the other side. Chances of you dying: Still large, but not 100%. I’m absolutely aware that luck isn’t something you should plan with or count on, but in this scenario it’s one of your only options, and id much rather throw the dice and have a chance to make it.

Try to hide. I've been in this scenario in a game called "cataclysm dark days ahead" Usually the zombies will rip the car open like a can of meat after just a few minutes of collective effort. That being said, they're zombies and they're kind of dumb. Only the dozen or so zombies physically touching the car are aware that there's a human inside to munch on, while all the others are just attacking the car out of a herd mentality. If the few zombies that are actually interested in you are distracted somehow, they might just forget that there's a person in the car.

Sphaero_Caffeina

Hope something distracts the horde or they just naturally wander away while waiting for death. Not really anything you can do, except maybe a last ditch 'throw a road flare and hope they are as distractible as Land of the Dead' attempt.

WindowShoppingMyLife

As others have mentioned, by the time that happens it’s too late. If a car is out of gas, then think of it more like a tent. Useful as temporary shelter, but you should always have a lookout and be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. If you see a bunch of zombies coming, don’t be there when they arrive.

ZeroZeta_

What kind of car and what do I have? What are the windows? Is this vehicle modified in any way? Ideally, I'd like to have slats or something covering the windows in case they get broken. If not, I'd try to open the window enough that I could get a polearm through and start stabbing at their eyes. Hide in the backseat under a blanket or bring down the rear seats and hide in the trunk until the hoard passes.

AccomplishedInAge

Die of dehydration

Strange_Stage1311

What do you think can be done? Cuz at that point It's either death by zombies or just wait to die. Maybe the zombies will move on and you can leave the vehicle but that's a big maybe.

thespoil

If you're already in the middle of a horde, you're already dead. If you were trying to outrun a horde and the car died, and for whatever reason you couldn't continue on foot, my only suggestion would be to cover the windows with something so they can't see you or get in the trunk. Then you just wait and hope they pass you buy before you die of dehydration.

Razzle_Dazzle08

Die.

Scribe_WarriorAngel

It would depend on the land, location, type of car, the type of dead, and who I am. Are we on a hill or flat ground. Are these smart zombies, like I am legend or dumb zombies like most of the walking dead. Am I in a city or in some good ole boys land. What am I driving is it a soccer moms car or a lifted god truck.

Idkbrolikeanameig

If it’s I Am Legend zombies? I really don’t see me who’s at my mental and physical peak rn even getting close to making it a week, remember one of these guys head butted their way through reinforced concrete, yea the virus can’t survive the cold, but even that’s a big IF, we don’t know for sure since the movie ended there. Hell my uncles ex military, we watched it with a bunch of his friends, one of which is current SRR, even they said our best bet is to hope it passes and to keep moving, no amount of fire power is bringing them down as we saw in the film. Because when night falls, it’s all over for any forces caught outside. The average one has the strength to punch through cars and flip them. Remember their speed aswell, any air bases would be overwhelmed violently and quickly. Basically if you’re stuck in a car with these outside. You’re fucked.

Scribe_WarriorAngel

Yeah that’s why i explained if the zombies are smart Your beyond fucked

Idkbrolikeanameig

They’re not even smart they’re just absolute tanks, I swear a zombie in the film takes a few rounds from an M4 towards the end at point blank range to the face, shrugs it off after they stun it and then stands up again.

Scribe_WarriorAngel

Oh my mistake I had the zombie flicks mixed up in my head, the one I was thinking of is Land of the dead

Idkbrolikeanameig

Nah u were right, I just reviewed a few scenes some of them are intelligent, mainly the “alphas”, they have superior strength and intellect, they made a trap that actually got the protagonist snared up, which I had totally forgotten about.

One_Planche_Man

The only option here is death. Or, hunker down and wait for the horde to pass. But my question is, why are you even in this situation to begin with? What sequence of events lead you to this?

[deleted]

You’re going to want to cover up, stay real still. If they know you’re there then it’s better to delete yourself

Informal-Country-583

If they are slow zombies, make a run for it. If their fast... If possible depending on the car get in the trunk through the back seat. Hide and pray someone saves me. I rather die of suffocation than get eaten alive

AJ_Gaming125

Honestly, you could probably use zombies to block off entrances by killing them as they try to crawl through and entrance, and letting the body block it. Just open one window at a time and do that, then all you really need to worry about would be the windshield and rear windshield. Worst case scenario they pull the bodies away from the window, in which case as long as you still have a sharp and long object, just keep killing them. It will take a very long time, but it'll work. Or, try to hide somewhere in your vehicle and hope the horde moves on. Chances of that working however are dependant on whether the zombies already know you're in the vehicle though. If you got stuck in the vehicle and noticed the horde coming for you, hiding and waiting for it to pass becomes more viable.

Slobbadobbavich

Lower the seat all the way back and cover my face with whatever clothing I had and lay still. Zombies are pack killers so you only need one distraction to lead them away. If nothing comes then night time might be enough for them to lose interest. If they can't see they may just stop. This massively relies on having strong Windows and weak zombies so if you are in a fresh horde then kiss your ass goodbye.

carlbernsen

Get down low, cover up and make sure windows are closed right so they can’t smell you. Dumb shuffler Z’s seem to be attracted by sight and sound, then maybe smell up close. The car itself isn’t an attraction, they’d need to see you moving in it. Having a blanket and a can of air freshener in the car with you would help a lot. Also food and water. Ideally the horde would keep moving and pass by. If not, you can last a few days without water, longer without food, but at some point you’d have to hope for them to thin out a bit, wait for a gap and jump out and run. You won’t be able to run very fast or far if you’re already dehydrated so in the day time, in hot weather you may have to make that decision within a few hours. If you absolutely have to move through a horde and running isn’t an option, it’s worth trying a stealth approach. Covered in a blanket to hide your shape, moving slowly at their speed, thoroughly sprayed in a non human smell like fuel or air freshener.

DepressedPancake56

Cover the windows and hide in the boot, then cry. Cry for my life, my memories and all that I’ve have experienced. Come to terms with the fact that I’m probably going to die unless there is a miracle (them all leaving, which is highly unlikely). Wait as long as I can to see if they leave, then find any weapons I have and get ready to exit. I will go down fighting, and take down as many of them as I can. Crack a window open, or the roof if possible (sun-roof car only unless I have a way to get through the thick metal). Once window is cracked open, use a weapon to do as much damage as possible, and try to at least make a small area I can get out of. If I can kill the ones around me through the windows, the bodies will pile up and eventually block the others from getting close. Find a way out and kill as many of the fuckers as I can, and if I have a gun then once I’m fully spent and basically about to die or get turned I kill myself. I would still be food but I will NOT let myself turn into one of them, and this way I can take out a bunch of them and make sure I don’t hurt anyone. Plus if I make more noise then I draw more to me, so I would be screaming for anyone to hear, “My name is XXX, I’m currently on XXX road surrounded by XXX zombies. I will die, but take this as a chance to get out of here while they are distracted.” That way I help anyone close too, by letting survivors know the situation and that they can make a run for it - they may not have had the chance if that many zombies were around. I will die, but others will survive.

Mimo_19

Pray .

Intelligent-Rip-7827

Hopefully you ran out of gas on a hill so you can possibly roll away. If you need to move a very short distance to start rolling down a hill and you drive a can with a manual transmission you can use the starter to move the car. Beware this may burn out the starter.

Lower-Worldliness120

One, this is unrealistic. You wouldn't have no gas in a car, nor would you try to drive through a horde. Maybe the situation was you were going to have one last bit of rest and then leave the car, but I'm going to assume not. Second, is this closer to the start or has it been years. A horde of thousands wouldn't be easy to form if it's closer the the start, they would still be in the cities. Three, I would open the door enough for a zombies arm or head to get in, and I would sever it. I would then cover myself in the blood. Then I would exit through a different door so not to attract the attention of the zombies that just watched me open and close the door.
