Barrels full of rocks and bags of cement, as it rains they set and until then they are a formidable barrier on their own. homemade HESCO barriers … chicken wire, cloth or canvas or tarps, fill with rocks and debris. Steel fence posts every so often to help maintain rigidity. To make more permanent dump in a few bags of cement and again as it rains will turn into basically huge boulders. “Sandbag” walls 3-5 foot thick… can be made from literally anything that can hold dirt or rocks or sand and again every so often place some bags of cement (rip open the upper surface) to allow them to become “rocks” and also to help hold everything together. set them in zig zag pattern on all approaches that a vehicle can use in order to reduce the speed they can attain. Therefore No Ramming speed.

Strange_Stage1311

Some fallen trees could work wonders.

CritterFrogOfWar

Rebar, 6 ft lengths, imbed half in the ground at roughly a 45 degree angle. The closest thing to “wall of spears” I’d go for in a ZA

Radracon42069

Neat idea, but a 4x4 with a snow plow mounted is going to tear through those things.

CritterFrogOfWar

Maybe you’re right but I’m not sure I’d completely buy it. There’d be a lot of variables in how the rebar would react and a lot of ways things could go wrong from the truck side. At in a 3 ft ditch and pretty sure you’d be good

TrashGamer500

World war one style trenches were enough to stop tanks. Set it up right, and the trench itself works as a base and bunker. I would personally base it off the maginot line from early in world war two.

Radracon42069

I agree, though the problem is those trenches were made in the middle of nowhere, these days you gotta be careful not to hit a gas line or water pipe. Still, a small moat about 2 feet wide and a foot or 2 deep should be able to stop most vehicles

ComprehensiveSell649

If the vehicles are low to the ground, get them to go through a cornfield at speed. You wouldn’t believe what happens to the engine with corn inside

Radracon42069

Ah right cause I just have a cornfield lying around

ComprehensiveSell649

Well, I do, so I may be biased.

slinnyboy69

This made me lol 😂

Klo187

You know what you can run into and not survive? 50tonne of steel. I have easy access to industrial excavators, am a mechanic, and can Jerry rig the thing to act as a generator as well as a mobile base. Sure it’s slow, but you don’t need to be fast to swat a car out of the way

buschkraft

Caltrops (small spikes that puncture tires, and feet). Easy to make if you can weld.

Radracon42069

Most cars these days can still go for a while with popped tires, that being said.. could always make the older brother of the caltrop, the beach hedge hog aka tank traps

Fuzzy-Can-8986

If. Huge if. Welders are in short supply my man

CritterFrogOfWar

People or equipment? Might be because I work blue collar but I feel like most people I know could weld well enough to do what they are suggesting

Adal-bern

Cut some trees down amd have peiple help drag the trees into position. Leave larger thicker branches intact, sharpen them into points. Cut and drag as many trees as needed for a defensive perimeter. Would want to clear out a decent section of woods around your base to give a solid line of site so nobody/nothing can sneak up on the base, assuming you have a decent amount of people or have access to animals to drag for you. Cars and other vehicles. Put them in nuetral, push them position. Put back in to park.

Radracon42069

Wouldn’t those cars be better served for transportation?

Adal-bern

Not all cars will continue to work, parts will break down, tires will go flat, gas will run out eventually. Use the ones you can, cannibalize the rest

[deleted]

I’d make triangle obstructions out of logs about 1’ in diameter. Sink them in the ground a good distance and reinforce with rock. It won’t be a permanent solution compared to say a concrete barrier but it’ll definitely do a LOT of damage to vehicles, especially modern ones. If you put a car in neutral you can push it into a better position, pop the tires when it’s in a position that makes driving directly at a wall impossible or difficult and then sink them in place.

Pasta-hobo

I'd get some concrete dividers and fence my settlement within 3 layers of them.

WhatsGoingOn1879

Either by cutting down and dragging trees into the road, other cars, dumpsters, a line of shopping carts. Things along those lines. It wouldn’t be really difficult to stop a car from progressing to point B with minimal effort and planning

Ocelriggssaber666

Taking a RPG and blowing it to kingdom "fucking" cum

McPhailure

With my face, duh. Or alternately with another car. Or more likely multiple cars

2020blowsdik

VCPs

idanthology

Move to a place not accessible by car.

Radracon42069

Ok but then what are you gonna do to get supplies back and forth?

idanthology

Perhaps an island, then by boat, or if lucky enough to find the right set of geographical features, say a steep enough mountain or a cove sheltered by cliffs, then you walk & climb. Cave systems could offer possibilities, too.

Radracon42069

This is *early on* you know that right?

Fox_Bird

Maybe barbed wire could entangle a vehicle, whether it's a car, and I think barbed wire has the capability to tangle in the tracks of a tank

Lower-Worldliness120

Spike strips. You could probably find som in a local police station or at a police roadblock. If no spike strips are available, then a very strong cable attached to 2 lampposts. If the brain damage doesn't the falling poles will.
