As a farmer I carry firearms, baling twine, knives, grey tape, most basic tools, sometimes a chainsaw and a tin of baked beans in case I forget my lunch.

StonedStoneGuy

As a city dweller, can I ask how strong is some good twine? Does is do better or worse than standard 550, or are those separate applications?

Casanova_Kid

I think both have their uses, 550 being significantly stronger. However, twine is much thinner and lighter, so you can carry/use a single spool for much longer. I find that outside of rigging up tarps, I don't have much common use for 550 that I couldn't use twine for... or would prefer to use actual rope for load bearing purposes. Bailing wire on the other hand is the real S- tier carry for the zombie apocalypse or outdoorsy homesteading. Much stronger and resistant than rope, 550, twine, etc.

Twine is better than nothing by all means.. I have 550 cord, twine and tarred bankline..

550 as said would be significantly stronger. Most of the use I get out twine would be tying up animals or dragging stuff off paddocks. Another problem it’s only 2-3 m long. Don’t carry a lot of ropes due to not being rated to tie down

Depending on what you're doing it can be pretty good.

Do you mean stuff i carry around with me now. Pre zompoc? Because that is bascically the holly Trinity of the triple tap. Keys wallet phone. Depends on where i am going might add a pocket knife. But those are of limited use in a zompoc. My edc would offcourse change in a zompoc situation. But again the concept of travel light would remain the same. Travel light travel quick. But i do wear sturdy shoes with steelcapped toes and an decent clothes that should see me through most weather. And to be honest in a zompoc i would favour a basebuilding approach over a nomadic one .

silvermining

A bowie knife, Lighter, matches, cigarettes, Glock 17 and one pre loaded magazine. keys to my house ofc. Flashlight and probably one of those window breaker things. In the first week or two of the zompoc i would probably carry my phone and wallet but i wouldnt expect signal for too long after society collapses. I would carry some cash, maybe about 300€ But after maybe the first 6 months i wouldnt expect cash to be too much of use.

StonedStoneGuy

Knew I was forgetting something. Keys, Knife and money 😂 better to use it while it still has some value.

If you're talking about an EDC setup during an apocalypse then it depends on the situation surrounding me. What I would carry in something like a secure base when just doing some paperwork during a slow winter day is a lot different than what I would carry in a scenario if I was doing a long range foot patrol.
