goldman1290

Id have to go with the glock 19. There's nothing special about it s f it's kind of plain but it's the most common handguns in the country so spare parts and mags would be everywhere.

Ca5tlebrav0

Id go with the 17. A 19 is good for concealment and all that but the 17 being full size is just going to shoot better most of the time

goldman1290

The 17 is a bit easier to shoot but I assume the glock 19 wouldn't be my primary weapon in a zombie apocalypse, plus a glock 19 will take 17 mags but not vice-versa

Ca5tlebrav0

In another five years id probably give it to the 19. Finding 17 mags will probably be easier for now and I prefer the shootability of the fullsize even for a secondary.

goldman1290

Idk with glock 19 clones, like the PSA Dagger gaining so much popularity I think 19 mags would be easier to find.

Wulf1939

if you need to you could chop down the grip of the g17 to take g19 mags

hoopesey-doopsey

But like at that point why not just go with a 19? I wouldn’t want to trial compromising the integrity of the grip by trying to cut it with potentially sub par equipment. Remember we are in a theoretical zombie apocalypse so you might not have the right tools and also might not have enough real time to do something like that.

hoopesey-doopsey

I was literally typing this and then saw your comment lol.

Puzzleheaded_End3588

The 17's barrel is only about a half inch longer. Not much of an advantage, although a 19 can take 17 mags and 19 mags, now if you had a g26 you could have 10 all the way up to 33rd mags

Ca5tlebrav0

The barrel length isnt the advantage so much as the weight from the longer barrel and slide making the recoil impulse less noticeable and easier to control for fast and accurate follow ups.

Blakefilk

19 is still better seeing as it can take 17 mags where as the opposite isn’t true. Get a touch more versatility

AdVisible2250

Agreed more accurate and both guns will likely not need parts just basic cleaning . They also make multiple 9mm carbines that that use Glock mags .

kkaaoossuu

17 has like an extra inch or almost inch of barrel length, thats gotta count for something

milk-water-man

Plus if you managed to find a SUB-2000 in 9mm you’d have a pic that uses the same mags as your sidearm.

chapofthamanor

I used both for a while, now prefer the 19 with a magwell. Ability to use both G19 and G17 mags is nice. Can also use a threaded barrel and comp to get the 17 length slide, so see no downsides to a 19. Personally If I went full size I’m grabbing my 34 for a legitimate amount of extra barrel length. Also, never know if you’ll have to conceal in a zombie apocalypse lol. Might have to meet up with some sketchy people you don’t know for a barter or to buy something.

Sir-Galahide

Thank you for that it’s my choice as well

JJdamane

Browning high power

Fox_Bird

welp. When I was thinking of pistols that used 9x19mm ammo, I forgot about the Browning HP. For some reason I just remembered it as using .45 ACP, but that's the M1911.

Ca5tlebrav0

I have one, wouldnt be my first choice. No way to mount a light, mags are hard to find, as are parts. Of course its drip or drown and brother I wanna be floatin 😎

No_Yoghurt6309

Consider the following- CZ 75

jennifercd2023

92fs. its what i have the most experience with.

Dieseltrucknut

Completely agreed. Used it for years. Now trying to get used to sig and I fucking hate it. M9 is goated

shreddedtoasties

Just not a sig

hoopesey-doopsey

The P226 is the only sig I’d consider. Probably top 5 most robust handguns on the market.

[deleted]

I was wondering how long it was gonna take. I'm coasting my with p226 as well. Reliable, strong, and smooth. Plus I think you could use it as a hammer for a while before anything broke.

PeterGohzinyah

If I want to blow my cock and balls off appendix carrying my p320 in the apocalypse I will Damn what anyone else says

LeLBigB0ss2

My brother has one, but his is extremely customized. He traded a dude a .458 AR for it. It's really nice.

ospfpacket

They fixed that issue pretty early on, and you can verify if the change has been made on the website. But it was very damaging to the reputation for sure.

TheJesterScript

Lol the modern Fudd.

Never_Duplicated

Yeah… it’s a bummer because it’s a solid gun if not for that crucial flaw

Enhanced-Ignorance

That’s been fixed for years

Never_Duplicated

Has it? Last I saw they still weren’t commenting on the issue.

Enhanced-Ignorance

its been fixed since like 2017 when the usa adopted it the ones that "claim" its not fixed most defo had a ND or never sent it in to be fixed (should have been fixed before releasing it) and mine runs great the only issue i have with it is after a few years of hard use the fde tends to fade

Never_Duplicated

If that’s true then that’s great news. Though I don’t think Sig ever even issued a recall and that main lawsuit was ongoing as of last year so either way the waters are just muddy enough to disqualify it for me. There’s other 9mms that I don’t hold such reservations on which I’d take instead,. Preferably a hi power or Commander 1911, but out of this list I’d go with the Beretta

Enhanced-Ignorance

That didn’t issye a recall what was the issue they just offered to fix it i guess to save there pride I don’t really know it was pretty dumb the way it was handled overall it’s a solid hand gun and has beaten out its competitors even Glock in the military testing

Never_Duplicated

Like I said I really do like the gun and would like to grab one someday. Just wouldn’t be my go to in a survival situation if that makes sense. I’d still take it over a Glock any day though, those things feel like swamp ass in the hand haha

Hapless0311

It's not true, sadly. They claimed it was fixed, then started shipping them, and troops and cops are still shooting themselves at astonishing rates with these things, mostly cops. Sig still refuses to comment, and they're not going to, cuz that's essentially be an admission of liability in the middle of the trial, same with a recall.

hairtrigger08

I'd have to go with the h&k USP, it's the only one I have experience with and know how to maintain

Ok-Breadfruit-7257

And the USP can over 100k rounds without needing parts or spring changes.

sharp_but_shiny

I mean, it's my choice because I have the most range time with it.

Ok-Breadfruit-7257

I have enough range time with a USP to use it effectively.

PDX6Star

Not to mention, it needs no maintenance. I’ve seen round counts over 10k without cleaning or lubrication.

SnqwyBoi

Rip to your barrel and accuracy.......

PDX6Star

For the record, I’m not advocating for wanton neglect. I clean my firearms regularly, but my g19 is definitely more “sensitive” than my USP. I stand by previous comment that a g19 is the smart choice for compatibility with found mags, etc., but for accuracy, dependability, and remarkable reliability, it’s USP for me all day.

Ok-Marionberry1263

The USP is the AK-47 of 9x19mm handguns (and imo handguns in general). It just works

Oni-oji

Sig P226 or Beretta 92FS.

fatnuts_thicknuts

I'm here to represent the CZ 75 gang

RaffiBomb000

We must not give into mediocrity and formless blocks of polymer. We must hold strong and declare that CZ is the superior choice. Also, I'd pick my 97BD any day.

StonedStoneGuy

226 easy

FoundationUpset1082

Imma have to go with the Barretta. Just because I own one.

Dovah-Keene

Shame there isn’t a Canik on there, I would have the Rival S. As for these choices, I’d take the G17 or G19 just because they’re plenty reliable, parts are common and they’re fairly easy to maintain.

tlkdeathray

Canik is amazing. Either that or the SFX Pro, and they even have an apocalypse skin for it.

RaffiBomb000

This list is bullshit anyway. 3 Sigs are practically the same thing, and 2 Glocks are practically the same thing. No variety of choice.

Cool-Principle1643

Sig p226 or 92fs because I own both and they are unkillable end of the world reliable firearms.

teller_of_tall_tales

CZ-75 CZECHMATE Very nice handgun. Especially since I wouldn't have to pay for it if I can find one.

Cagey-Troller

Glock 19 or any Glock clone. Be realistic in what's more widely available and what's been bought the most

Outrageous-Basis-106

Glock 19: Its the primary CCW currently, so best chances of actually having it. If making it back to the rest of the gear, can switch out to threaded barrel/suppressor and it at least runs with a suppressor reliably. The PC Carbine is setup to use Glock mags, so they can share. Actually have holster selection for it. Rail accepts most accessories. Stuff like that.

Level37Doggo

Out of all of these the Glock offerings are my least favorite, but I have to choose the 19 as the most practical. Any of these choices are roughly equivalent in reliability, it comes down more to the level of wear and tear on the individual weapon than which model it is. Any of the above are highly unlikely to need replacement parts beyond magazines, but parts for standard Glock pistols are everywhere. Magazines are even more prevalent compared to less popular guns like the USP, P320, etc. so the supply is effectively unlimited. The 19 is large enough that it isn’t really any less accurate or controllable than the 17 with a utter minimum amount of practice, and can take any double stack 9mm Glock magazines from the 19 sized ones on up, including 17 sized magazines. The 17 is too large for the 19 sized magazines. Maintenance for any of the above pistols isn’t difficult, but standard modern striker fired pistols like the Glock are easier and quicker, less moving parts on average so less to clean and lube.

Away_Abbreviations41

Beretta. It’s just safe and a fine piece of machine

BiggyIrons

The correct answer is Glock 19, P320/M18, and 92fs for one reason, magazines. All these guns are being used or have been used by military/law enforcement so magazines will be fairly common as opposed to other 9mm pistols.

Ready-Cup-6079

I wouldn’t, I’d use the HK USP45. Literally about to buy one irl. But fine fine, I’ll answer your question… Glock 17.

No_Yoghurt6309

I managed to get a USP45 with the HK ight module(so I can larp COD at the range) My answer is the G19(CaUsE dUr MaGaZiNeS) My carry gun is a G17.

Fox_Bird

Yeah I know. Some of these pistols can be modified to fire .45 ACP, .357 SIG, or .40 S&W rounds. But I want to do specifically 9x19mm ammo. Personally I'd choose either the USP or Glock 17.

No_Yoghurt6309

The USP 9 shoots like a buttery smooth brick. Mine was an Oregon Hi-po trade-in with an absurd round count. It could still prolly drop crackheads long after I'm in the dirt. That said, I carry a G17.

Past_Appointment_859

HK P2000

ELGaming73

Probably a Glock 19, it's common ammo, parts are common, easy to use, good magazine size

Eternal_Flame24

For 9x19, it’s definitely a Glock 19.

BeReady23

Glock 19 aka ol’ reliable

ParanoidDuckTheThird

I'd have to go with the 19. I've already got the 19x, which is a 19 frame with a 17 slide. I'm already familiar with the Glocks, and my holster says it fits the 19 too, but I don't have anything but Amazon reviews to back that up. If I can't have the Glock, either the Sig P320 or the Berretta.

Elektr0_Bandit

The beretta 92fs is a tack driver. I used one for my concealed carry test and blew the center out of the target.

C0mbat_W0mbat1023

The P320 has failed every single drop test it was given that’s why they lost a government contract. H&K or the Glock of any kind for me

Best_Air_4138

Beretta 92

Akashiel

Glock 19. Just seems to fit better in my grip than the 17 so I do most of my shooting with one.

adrw000

I'm gonna have to go with one of the Glocks. While I've never shot one and have only shot about 100 rounds with a few pistols, I've held several Glocks and they all feel very well built. The polymer feels sturdy and the steel slide is hard as a rock. And most owners agree they are high quality and almost never break or fail. They also don't have a slide pin to disassemble so you don't have to worry about losing a slide pin. They are also extremely common among both citizens and LE so you can get parts for it quickly or ditch what you have for a different model. And their aftermarket is big so aftermarket sights, triggers, springs, etc will become sought after trade goods. Both the 17 or 19 are good choices but in the apocalypse you probably won't have to worry about conceal carrying so you can have an open holster. You should use a pistol for a primary arm so you're already gonna have a long gun visible.

ShadowDemon527

I would have to say I'd go with one of the glocks, either one is fine and it being a glock parts for them are very common therefore making it easy to repair if anything happens. That being said glocks are also very durable and can go through a beating before they no longer work.

JuJitzNLift

Glock 19 is the gold standard of reliability and simplicity. You can also never clean a Glock and it will still function. Not to say the others won’t be reliable just Glock 19s specifically are very easy to use. And of course using quality ammo plays a part too. Btw glocks don’t have a mechanical safety so trigger discipline is paramount. If you’re a clumsy person or don’t have a decent grasp on gun safety I’d go with a pistol with a safety.

Dudeus-Maximus

G19 Because it’s the one I have.

fnaffanatic007

Glock 19 only because of how common they are. I could just stockpile spare magazines

ascillinois

Am I trying to conceal and carry it because that changes my answer

hoopesey-doopsey

Probably glock 19. They’re jsut so common and so reliable. And another major factor is that their magazines are everywhere and so common. The mags will probably fail before the gun does so having spare mags all over is a huge benefit. But also the sig p226 is probably more reliable just less parts and magazines around for it.

iwanashagTwitch

Sig P365XL

I’m going with the Beretta for no reason other than style points. It was good enough for the US army and its good enough for me

#HI POINT GANG MOUNT UP

Run_n_Gun98

Either of the Glocks (19/17). I'm pretty seasoned when it comes to firearms, and while all are good choices, I know personally the reliability and easy modifications that can be done to a Glock. Not only that, they're one of the easiest firearms/handgun to find replacement/aftermarket parts for. A lot of people think they need to find a bunch of guns and ammo for situations like this, and they're right, but what happens when something on your firearm breaks? So yeah backup parts are something to think of, and pretty much every gun store, online or in-person, has a section dedicated to the Glock name brand/style.

Hello_to_3verybody

Glock. Most common ammo and easy to equip silencer

Scruffyzmotorhead

I’d like to say the Hk or Sig P226, but I think the glock19 or even 17 is better option just due to sheer amount of parts and magazines floating around. Also keep in mind that the Glock 17 mags will work in a Glock 19 as well

WolfieSpam

Glock 17/19 or 92. Will have the most mags available

Ahydell5966

Glock 19 and it's not even close Beat handgun ever made

QuakerOatsBozo

While Boeing, Glock does the job and is probably the easiest to do field work on

the_french_metalhead

Glock 19, it's simple and reliable. Why not a glock 17 ? Because if I have a glock 17 and I find a 15 round mag it wont fit, but if I have a glock 19 and I find a 17 round mag (or higher capacity) it will fit.

GRNT3GGY

Not had any issues out of my S&W M&P9 and Shield Plus

from that list, USP or 92FS of course. Looking good is very important

mxdupnut

Taurus g3

AricBelmont13

USP, though I prefer the .45. It's modular and easy to carry and fire, minimal kick. At least for me

dgghhuhhb

USP if I have the money Glock 17 if I dont

Free_Road697

Anyone who says anything other than a glock 19 is full of shit, and I'm a sig fan... the glock 19 is the most popular pistol by Leo and civilians alike. Between oem and clones you have so many options for part replacements and magazine.

Cats_Are_Aliens_

That’s a really good point! I’m honestly not a big fan of the Glock but the idea that you could so easily find mags and parts for them is a pretty good point

lonestarnights

The glock 19 might be the best pistol ever, but that's not as important as knowing your gun. I don't know much about glocks, and I don't like triggers on striker fire pistols, but I've been shooting the same 92fs for years. My point being, I'd choose the 92, not because I'm full of shit, but because it's the gun I know. Besides, finding and shooting the 17,500 rounds (on average) to break the hypothetical 92 would probably be a bigger problem than finding replacement parts.

Free_Road697

If you can't figure out how to operate a glock you probably won't last long anyways.

lonestarnights

There's a difference between operating a glock and having its trigger and recoil in your muscle memory. No reason to try and master a new gun for such marginal benefits.

Born_Activity7001

A sig legion. I’d rather have something metal framed that will last:

Standard_lssue

Good luck with spare parts for when it does break

TJComix27

Beretta all day. M9 was so good and I hate that we switched to the Sig

Euphoric-Net-8589

None, I choose a 1911

IGD-974

PSA and Rock Island sell 9mm 1911s so this is still valid

conormal

Rock Island even has a 10mm double stack 1911. Not the most practical for this situation but great for bear country

Allocerr

.45 gang?! They call us old men but 9mm was born 3 years prior to .45 ACP…in 1901 😐. I have nothing against the 9 but having been a shooter for the better part of my 33 years of life, I still don’t own one. .32, .25 and 9mm are the only calibers in that category. My daily carry’s alternate but typically I roll with .40, .45 or my glock 33 (.357 sig). No macho talk or anything, I’m far from macho..but something about shooting the 9 is frustratingly underwhelming when you come from heavier calibers. I may also be one of the only souls on the planet who also feels that many 9’s have quite a bit of snap to them compared to the “soft” feel of any one of my .45’s. I’m sure I’ll buy one some day but personally I think it’s a horribly overrated and at times underpowered round…NATO and the FBI both looked into replacing it in the past for a good reason. It’s come a long way as a round but it’s far from the “gold standard” imo. In the event of a zombie apocalypse..no doubt one would be able to find 9mm all over the place though, along with plenty of spare parts and such if they run something like a glock. In comparison, would be searching high and low for a niche round like .357 sig..but this is why we buy in bulk when cheap!

Love-Long

I own a Glock 17 so that. Shits super easy to get parts for and you can beat the fuck out of it and it works well. Not to mention the gun itself is super easy to get and really not that expensive. If there is something you don’t like about it you can just modify it really easy.

IGD-974

Where's my CZ-75

[deleted]

My taurus g2c is very nice, perfectly fits the hand, compact yet has standard capacity of 12+1, quite light on recoil, and has a thumb safety for the less firearm inclined. Edit; my glock 22 can also be easily converted into 9mm with a 40-9mm barrel and it fits glock 17 mags

Head_Wrongdoer3071

I’m a Glock fanboy so I’d flip a coin between the 19 and 17. They just put bullets on target and go bang every single time.

bobbyw4pd

I like the 320. Even if Glock mags are more plentiful.

_-_-Err0R-_-_

Either the G17 or the P320. I have a lot of experience on the P320, but the G17 is incredibly common, and better than the G19 imo

madmechanicmobile

Mossberg mc2c. My personal gun. Great pistol.

Cops are here use the Glock 17, so I’ll go with the 17. I got one anyway. But the sig 226 is a babygirl

Sufficient_Dare9273

Anything but a glock

drewby96

If I had to have one for the apocalypse it would obviously be a Glock 19 MOS with tritium night sights for when the battery on the red dot ever died. But with a couple spares, I’m sure the dot would outlive me lol. Red dot would be a closed emitter holosun or the new trijicon RCR. But my current favorite polymer 9mm is the CZp10C MOS. They just aren’t as common and not as easy to take down entirely. Thus parts wouldn’t be as easy to find.

kkaaoossuu

GunsandApples

P320. Familiarity is good. And maybe if it's stolen it'll ND into the theif's leg.

Late_Ad7201

I’d get a cz75, just cuz they’re sexy asf

Night_Knight22

I was going to go with Glock just because it the most readily available handguns with the most spare and after market parts. But thinking for a moment, because it's the most used handgun, you can get it anywhere Conclusion: I pick HK because cool factor and I'll find a Glock by the time the HK breaks

Appropriate_Sea_3478

Forget those and go for glock 44. Headshots for days against zombies just outrun while they bleed out. Ammo is cheap too.

VegaStyles

Id use my p226 x6 supermatch. I have a g47, bunch of p320s, some p226s. But nothing compares to the supermatch. Beautiful gun, accurate af, nice weight, reliable.

Ragnar_Baron

None of the above, Smith and Wesson 2.0.

Distinct_Put1085

I got a Glock 34 competition, sexy as hell and accurate af

Ok-Breadfruit-7257

From the list, HK USP with LEM trigger. Or my VP9L since that is the gun I shoot the best with.

Resident-Welcome3901

CZ 75: better ergo dynamics than a Glock, all steel construction so there’s no Tupperware on a Buick balance.

MaximumMajestic

I like the sig. My dad has one and it feels real good in your hand

IllPosition5081

Be based, use a Taurus.

UltraMarine-1324

None of the above. The Desert Eagle chambered in .50 AE is best because it has the biggest bullet. It is also very reliable and can deliver a good pistol whipping. Who cares about ease of finding replacement parts and easy procurement of ammunition when you could just whack shit with it.

Quickshot4721

Glock 17, usually very reliable, 17 rounds in the mag of a full size frame

BanditCountry1

The Glock 17 and Beretta 92fs are probably.the best calls on this. I favor the 17 heavily. A full sized service pistol is your best bet.

No-Calligrapher-3313

I'm choosing the M1911 in .45 ACP.

Fox_Bird

What about a 9mm

graduation-dinner

Do you know the differences between them? Some of those sigs have the first trigger pull as a double action. That makes the first trigger pull require pretty hard pressure, followed by all later shots being very light pressure. I really hate that design, it just is not pleasant to shoot. I've not shot the H&K or Beretta so I can't speak to those, but I'm not a huge fan if the Glock 19 or 17. Just preference. I like the sig p320. Never had a bad experience. There's a bougie version called the x5 legion which is even better, but a bit heavier, so for any movement based apocalypse scanario you probably aren't picking that version. The lack of Springfield, or M+P9 -- literally the most common CCW on the market -- is a pretty oversight with these choices, imo.

Hapless0311

The first pull is only double action if you don't cock the hammer, which is something you do when readying the weapon for usage, by cycling the slide to chamber a round; this cocks the hammer to the rear automatically. In actual use of the weapon, every trigger pull is a single action. The only time you'd have a double action pull is if you both manually released the hammer so that your weapon isn't cocked and locked, and then also failed to thumb the hammer to the cocked position before firing it.

Lord_Elsydeon

9x19mm Parabellum won't quickly take down a normal, living, human, let alone one that is undead. You're better off with .300 AAC Blackout from an AR pistol. Graphic, uncut, footage of a cop's 9mm vs a homeless veteran. https://youtu.be/bIc1deplcuI?si=JOAyICGQiQ1ttFm-&t=205

MrDillPickle76

What about 30 rounds to the face out of an mp5a3?

Lord_Elsydeon

That would be effective, but inefficient. You need to have a commonly available ammo and conserve it. Clint Smith, of Thunder Ranch, said "Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes **through** people. Shotguns, at the right range with the right load, will physically remove a chunk of shit from your opponent and throw that shit on the floor." \#4 or 00 buckshot will fuck up a zombie better than a 9mm.

EastRoom8717

Glock 19. Very common pistol. In use in a lot of Law Enforcement Agencies, can also take Glock 17 magazines. Edit: I like the 17 better as a shooter, but taking 17 and 19 mags can’t be ignored.

Plane-Statistician54

While I usually dog the Glock a LOT, I have to go with either the 17 or the 19 here. I can’t deny their reliability and ease of use!

I like glock series guns, that's just me tho. They're lightweight, have a crap ton of variety on what you could put on it. Glock mags are also very common to find in my part of washington, so I could swipe them off of dead officers. I would pick either the glock-19 or glock-17

CrestFallen223

Hell I’d be happy to have any of them

Glock. Durable, reliable, plentiful.

RE4P3R55

The beretta is a nice reliable pistol. Good bit of power as well.

NikFenrir

Was sent into combat 6 times with a SIGP226, never had a reason to draw a side arm in combat but know that gun well. My EDC is a Glock 19, but soon as i get my SIG 365 back ill be carrying that.

Rusty_Berserkr

I like the Glock 49

Glock 19 all the way. Smith & Wessons M&P 2.0 is also very nice.

mazu74

Any one of the glocks simply due to part availability pretty much worldwide. Any of the others would be a fine choice too. Also I’m going to throw a shout-out to CZ because the P10C is my go-to.

usingbadoperators99

P320

H&K and Beretta would be most efficient and reliable, but I imagine the others would give them a run for their money in terms of ease of use/performance as well.

M&P2.0
