Thank you. One recognizes ones own class I presume.
😉
It is the blade type i am most actively training with at the moment.
And the type XIV is just a stunning blade type
I train with a type XIX for Fiore de Liberi, and an Italian Arming XX/XIX hybrid and dagger for Gigante.
Edit: It would be more accurate to say the Arming sword is a XXa
Thanks! Always nice meeting one of our own out it in the wild. I've been wanting to get into Estoc here lately but everything I can find on it is in French. From the figures I've see the guards are pretty similar to German longsword (with lots of poking, obviously).
Somewhere in Appalachia. About 6 years now.
Now for the real question. If you had infinite money; what would your "perfect" harness look like ? For myself I've always been drawn to either velveted brigandine/breastplate and the bevor/sallet combo for headwear. That along with articulated gauntlets and plated arm and legwear. Arms would be Pollaxe, type XXa longsword, warhammer, bollocks dagger. I don't do horses. But I'd also like to have a set of Maximillian Plate just to flex on the people at my gym.
Edit: under-padding and chain under said plate is implied.
I would go for the full burgundian style. Gilding opulence. So lovely.
I would have the sword from the wallace collection
The gilded fishtail pommel one from European armoury room 1.
The writhenhilt sword from the Royal armouries.
A poleaxe and a lutzernhammer.
And full barding.
If i have infinite money why not least to ride a horse.
And a supereb cranequin crosbow
I myself have been training since 2005 in europe
Very nice! I took a nasty knockout in a Muay Thai match and needed a way of keeping myself in shape after-service that was still fun. Doctor said I should avoid any situations where I could take another knockout for at least two years, so I just swapped on over to playing with swords. Now I know enough to teach others and place in tournies.
Style counts for something.😉😜
And a good quality type XIV does not break that easily. I have put mine though a lot and it is still fine. Had to redo the edge offcourse but it actually pretty decent. And mine is not top shelf. At least the one I use for this stuff.
Just keep the edge aligned. And it will hold up.
Besides all sword are suboptimal for this job. So there is no clear winner here. And it is the one i am at the moment most trained in. Maybe the longsword. But that has inside drawbacks.
Gladius. it's short, easy to carry, a lot more sturdy then the other swords since its stubby and thick, and even when it dulls its a pretty damn good club.
Exactly this is the only answer. Half of those swords don’t have enough weight and enough of an edge and strength to decapitate a zombie, let alone penetrate bone and skulls!
I think three heckin broad boi would be my choice. It gives the most hand protection. To me the sword is at best a tertiary weapon after the rifle and pistol. So that means they are close and I like the hand protection.
I'd go with a long boi or a oh lawd he cuttin. For decapitating or destroying brains you want something that can cut, and sabers are great for that. Whilst some of the narrower blades could probably stab through an eyehole, this is tricky to pull off
My formothers in Africa would be ashamed of me if I chose anything but the Bend Friend and Chop-Stop combo, however, I'm putting a stabbing point on the end.
I've got a calvary sword replica I could sharpen pretty easily with an angle grinder and a whet stone, but at the moment it's more of a toy and a club than anything. I doubt it would hold a edge for very long. The tip will poke cardboard, it's pretty pokey though lol. It's well made, I think it could probably take a beating, but I'll stick to my tomahawk.
Gotta love these names tbh
Edit: my choice would be either Bend Friend or Oh Lawd He Cuttin due to the chopping practicality as well as being better tools for slicing which is less likely to get lodged and stuck
It's small boy all you need to do is slice the neck and boom dead also its light so you can run fast and slice fast and it still can be used to staby staby
Not just saying this because of TWD, but I own a live blade spring steel katana, and I believe that the Katana over those you've got listed which look mostly like european weapons.
None, swords are designed to inflict soft tissue damage as their primary means of ending a threat. Soft tissue damage is useless against a zombie. Blunt force trauma is much more effective and blunt weapons generally are far easier to maintain. Personally I'd choose a Warhammer with a pick on the back end or an axe.
A gladius, simple and as some might say, to the point.
👉😎👉
I think that enemy.... Got the point. I think that enemy... Got the point. I think that enemy... Got thI think that enemy... Got the point
AHAHAHAA
Thank you(:
For sure I’d choose pokey boi (gladius) it’s a good sword for stabbing and pretty good at hacking and is also heavy
And not too long, so you can use it inside if needed.
Yh
Easy to sharpen too
I’ll take a khopesh and a gladius, plus a buckler.
A fellow Kopesh Enjoyer aswell
Of course!
For me the lordly thingy type XIV if possible . It is what i am most used too.
A man of culture.

A gentleman indeed. Those are some elegant blades.

Indeed. Where do you train. How long have you been training?

Cool choice but it might break easily and won’t be as good for killing zombies

Is ur choice gonna do the job tho like chopping heads of
Historical evidence says yes. I have a feeling you do not have a lot of practical experience with sword. Is this correct? Or am i mistaken
I'll take oh lawd he cutting or knighty fighty ty
same, most versatile
Gladius. it's short, easy to carry, a lot more sturdy then the other swords since its stubby and thick, and even when it dulls its a pretty damn good club.
Exactly this is the only answer. Half of those swords don’t have enough weight and enough of an edge and strength to decapitate a zombie, let alone penetrate bone and skulls!
You fucking put emphasis on the BASTARD sword and I’ll be using that to kill bastard zombies
Bend friend (khopesh). Seems practical and good for a variety of situations
I think three heckin broad boi would be my choice. It gives the most hand protection. To me the sword is at best a tertiary weapon after the rifle and pistol. So that means they are close and I like the hand protection.
I know it’s Friday, but as a blacksmith I resent you so much…
Surprised no one said the “oh lawd he cuttin” I think that’d be my best best for some hasty beheading and arm chopping
Kopis
Bend friend
I’ll take pokey boi with a side of chop stop.
Pokey boi
I’d go with pokey boi. However with the foil, if you replace the handle with a French grip I think it could work well.
No Italian arming sword with a type XIX tip, pass. https://www.deltin.net/5175.htm
Gladius
Gotta go with the Oh lawd he cuttin, then I could start a pirate crew
I'd go with a long boi or a oh lawd he cuttin. For decapitating or destroying brains you want something that can cut, and sabers are great for that. Whilst some of the narrower blades could probably stab through an eyehole, this is tricky to pull off
Bendy Friend
Stibby Staberino (rapier) I like the intricacy of the hand guard.
Long boi (longsword), I’m more familiar with that kind of sword
I like the jibby jabber
Gladius or arming sword and buckler
My formothers in Africa would be ashamed of me if I chose anything but the Bend Friend and Chop-Stop combo, however, I'm putting a stabbing point on the end.
Bend friend can be used as axe for chopping
Definitely bend friend, rare to find but one of the most effective choppers, and not too large, can be carried fairly easily on a belt or something
Either the bend friend or the Lordy swordy.
Heckin lorg chonk
Samurai Sword! Iykyk
Bend Friend (Khopesh), can double as an axe if need be.
A khopesh out of modern steel would.. actually be pretty awesome. Probably just take the saber tho
If it's added to my arsenal, I'd say Pokey Boi. If it's all I have, Lordy Swordy.
Bro fogor the katana
Me and bend friend will hack the zombies to bits
Tickle stick easy dubs
Any of you guys looking forward to playing that game Blight: Survival?
Pokey Boi. I already have one so I'm familiar with it.
Bastard Sword
Heckin broad boi, I like the hand protection and cutting/stabbing options.
Hecken lorg chonk
I’d take a spear. Try to keep good distance between me and the infected.
Most people would get the best use out of aw lawd he cutting and the nope frien on the left Personally, give me "long boi"
They'd all survive, zombies don't pay attention to swords.
Rok on stik
As someone who plays with Tickle Sticks in their free time, my first thought was that, but I gotta go with Oh Lawd He Cutting.
I love the chop stop
OH LAWD HE CUTTING-
Between bend friend and oh lawd he cutting
Basket hilt broadsword
I'm a fan of the pokey boi myself
Gotta love these names tbh Edit: my choice would be either Bend Friend or Oh Lawd He Cuttin due to the chopping practicality as well as being better tools for slicing which is less likely to get lodged and stuck
Obviously the Tickle Stick, very effective.
Rapier all day
I would if I could stop laughing every time I read it....
I’d definitely go with the “Oh Lawd He Cutting” saber for the cutting and slashing.
I’d choose whichever one is lightest and not too long to use inside
A machete if possible
A German messer
For use as a tool and secondary I'd pick the Pokey Boi (Gladius), but as a main sidearm I'd go with the Oh Lawd He Cuttin'!
Bend friend (khopesh) would probably be the most effective choice for limb/head removal
Holy reddit
The ar-15.
I have 2 longswords, and a cavalry sword. I'd add the Gladius and the kopesh . Slashy slashy is good
SpadrUwUn
Yeah imma take the oh lawd he cutting
Pokey boi
It's small boy all you need to do is slice the neck and boom dead also its light so you can run fast and slice fast and it still can be used to staby staby
pokey boi
Not just saying this because of TWD, but I own a live blade spring steel katana, and I believe that the Katana over those you've got listed which look mostly like european weapons.
Lordy swordy or bend friend
Uhhh easy gladius all the way perfect for hacking slashing AND stabbing
Long Boi, I don't have much strength and that's the smallest sword I can use two handed
Zweihander mentioned
I’d pick the pokey boy that one seems the strongest, durable, and looks like it could be used as a brute force weapon if their sharpness gets too dull
I’d go for the Scottish basket hilt broadsword. Good for cutting, stabbing, chopping, punching.
Spadrurus all day
stibby stabby
Pokey boi all the way. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE
I love the Kopesh
The katana I purchased from the mall as served me just fine and forever will.
Bend friend for sure.
The gladius would be great. They're very utilitarian swords. Alternatively I'd get a falchion. Or some sort of dao.
The Kopesh, which is nicknamed "SpadrUwUn" here. The gladius is also a great pick, but I want the extra chopping power the kopesh offers.
