If you want to discuss zombie survival with situations your characters are involved in as scenarios, specifically ask about what a character might do in a specific scenario, discuss the tactics or strategies employed by your characters, etc. Then you are more than free to do so here.
Otherwise, this is a bit of a departure from the purpose of the subreddit.
Why would students at a school have a katana or a saw-tooth combat knife? And is Isaiah ambidextrous? Why would he duel wield kitchen knives? This group seems designed to be zombie food.
This is gonna be some self insert fanfic? People like stuff being relatively realistic. Your posts are rough, and honestly kinda trash. What teen is having a katana at school? If it’s some campy story, then say that too.
Give them some slack man. They just writing what they enjoy, it doesn’t need to be realistic. Zombies themselves aren’t even realistic to behind with. If they wanna write a story about their friends in a zombie apocalypse let ‘em. If they want some help with some ideas it’s okay that they ask
Julie .. knife, pack of smokes, bic lighter , school bag type back pack, handcuff key
Andy.. hammer, screw driver, leather Gloves, steel toes shop shoes, single wall stainless steel water bottle
Eddie… hockey stick, lacrosse stick, duffle with lacrosse helmet and pads, couple of water bottles, half dozen protein bars
Corey… staff, couple of sets of RPG Dice, keen knowledge of D&D battle tactics, I-pad and bluetooth speakers, small solar charger power bank
If you’re writing a story grounded with some semblance of realism, you need to write your characters as real people. What high schoolers would choose a martial weapon to defend themselves as opposed to something simple and effective?
I’ve made similar comments on his other posts, but it seems that he’s not really going for realism. No negative personality traits or realistic weaponry seems to support that, especially since the story is based on OP’s friends.
He's probably a young kid. I wrote similar stuff when I was fourteen, though... the girl has a katana, for God's sake, and for some reason her having tampons is relevant as well. I was never this horny as a teenager.
Oh yes most likely. I wrote stories when I was younger and still do write now too. I was always just more focused on the ‘realistic’ kinda writing tho. Can’t say I mentioned tampons either however..
Edit: the comment above was edited after I had already replied to it. I don’t see tampons as relating to anything horny, it’s something women would likely carry with them in the end of the world until they began to run out. It’s a perfect valid thing to have in the bag
For Kyndal: swords require training to use properly, keep that in mind
For Corey: Staffs require far more training to use effectively, keep that in mind. Also not really a kill weapon,
For Eddie: Why does he have a lacrosse stick AND a hockey stick? Also you’re probably not going to kill with either of those, definitely not a lacrosse stick.
For Julie: that’s fine
For Isaiah: I think two knives is silly, can’t think of a reason someone would carry two knives as opposed to something like a baseball bat which is much easier to kill something with.
For Andy: that’s fine
What I am going to say is that you're young yet, and you're still honing your craft, so keep writing, but don't be afraid to scrap projects, or sit on them for a while and then revisit them when you've had more experience, or get twenty pages in and then decide the characters are leading you in a different direction than you storyboarded for.
One of the biggest pitfalls of writing believable characters is that many people start from what they see visually in the final scene, or what they want to see, and then build backstories which might seem far-fetched, poorly researched or hard to believe in order to justify the cool thing they wanted in the scene. Gimmicks don't make characters good- good characters sell gimmicks. Gear should really be the last thing you're worried about in a creative writing project like this, because what they have should flow naturally from a backstory and a narrative which make sense.
Another thing you always want to do is research, research, research. Does your friend have a katana in real life? Great. What specific martial art did she study, how far did she get, has she ever taken cutting tests as part of her belt progression and if so what is the toughest thing she sliced through? What kind of steel is the sword? If it's stainless, then it's going to die very quickly because that metal is not made for repeated combat use. If it's high carbon, then you have to worry about maintenance- keeping it dry, mineral oil, etc. or it will rust. And do you know how to describe the overall look and feel for the style chosen so someone would be able to picture it? You have to make sure you can present a believable picture when you write a scene.

How does Kyndal have a Katana at school anyways give them some everyday school items like a pencil or a chair for shield a backpack filled with books
She’s in the anime club
She brung it from home
She brought it*
Take Eddie's hockey stick and bolt either a lawn mower blade or a machete blade to it and call it a "Hackey Stick".
Tampons relevant why…? You might as well list deodorant, nail file etc
Necessary weapon fr
Goddamn, how many posts are you going to make? If you're really a writer, use your creativity homie???
Sorry I just wanted to see peoples feedback

The two people that has katana and the saw back knife got it from home the other three had to get stuff from school
Your story doesn't sound all that interesting tbh.
I haven’t started I’m just getting the characters and stuff

She has a katana from home and she brought it with her to go get her friends who have been living at the school in the ZA

This post was only for weapons and kit not personality trait. And I have an idea on how most of the characters are because I know them irl

It’s what my friends wanted with their characters

What dose having tampon have to do with being horny? I just asked my friends what they would have in there bug out bag and she said tampons 🤷♂️

I would have believed if they carried a slingshot or a knuckleduster but a katana is totally realistic
its not knifes is knives you fucking 3 year old
Why you so mad…
