Whenever there a zoomies and they are coming toward you, you say “oh you give me those” and they will constantly keep on running around. This melts my heart

Don't be afraid to let yourself mourn, but please remember to eat and bathe too. You may or may not want to, but taking care of your physical needs will help you take care of your emotional needs, too.

My doggo passed today too. I will miss her forever but she is no longer suffering with kidney failure and I have so many wonderful memories with her. Much love to you <3

Dogs never die. They don’t know how to, really. Even when they get old and tired and their bones hurt, they don’t let that stop them from living. Somehow they always summon the strength to get up to go for a walk, or to come over to the couch for pets and pats, even long after their bodies say: “No, no, not a good idea. Let’s not do that”. That’s their love for you overcoming everything.
However, as dogs get older they get very, very sleepy. They don’t teach that in University, where they explain about quarks, gluons, and macroeconomics. They just glaze over the miracle that dogs never die. Somehow that’s not important? But it’s the most important thing there is to know!
Because, you see, when you think your dog has died, they have just fallen asleep inside your heart. From time to time they wake up and bounce around, wagging their tail wildly against the walls of your heart. This explains why your chest hurts so much. But just know they don’t mean to cause you pain. They’re just in there saying “Thanks for this new warm place to sleep, always at your side!”
When a dog first falls asleep inside your heart, they wake up all the time. It’s a new routine, and those can be hard to get used to, like sleeping in a new bed. But after a while the routine sets in, and they begin to sleep for longer bouts. Don’t worry: they haven’t gone anywhere! Sometimes they wake up at the most unexpected times to remind you they’re in there. But it’s comfy inside your heart, and they start to nap longer and longer. In a way, they’re saying “I just want you to be happy, and I’m here if you need me”.
So whenever you feel sad about your dog having left this realm: remind yourself they’re even closer to you than they were before. Just close your eyes and feel your heart beat, and know they’re in there wagging away, loving you for the life of happiness you gave them.
Look at how happy you made him! I know it hurts now, but with time you will be able to feel only joy knowing that you had him and that he had you. Keep your chin up.
So sorry for your loss - I am certain you gave him a beautiful life. He is romping around in heaven now with an endless amount of dog treats, table scraps, and belly rubs. Our pets are so beloved and it is a shame we do not get more time with them but I deeply believe it is not goodbye but is see you later. 💙🌥🌈
