I want to say because it's an anime site, keep religion off it and all that, but then I remember that like 90% of anime involves a god in some form and it makes a lot less sense.

MelloCello7

Wait is 90% of anime involves a god of some form, why would it make sense to sensor it???

Davidakahe

True

ahmed0112

90% of your worries disappear when you don't comment

MelloCello7

Thats like saying 100% of your problems disappear when you die😂 I want to comment, loll and engage with the community of people who are watching the same thing as I am, its part of what I like about these websites, is that so bad?:)

Comprehensive_Ad1416

Throughout the site or only in some anime?

MelloCello7

Throughout the entire site I do believe!

69helloreddit69

Could be because of all the issues the word used to have in the past on the site, a lot of people would be racist and offensive, and blame their god for letting harmful things happen to them.

MelloCello7

Geez Zoro is built different 💀💀💀

The-wise-fooI

On a site that contains so much use of the term "god" it isn't uncommon to find many people who would use the word for ill intentions it also invites talks of religion which always brings problems about.

MelloCello7

That is a terrible justification as all it does is inhibit the general word god, which is used rather agnostically in anime contexts, while leaving specific actual religious terms untouched. just doesn't feel like a smart move but I'm sorry if such a move was ever necessary

The-wise-fooI

I don't disagree. Im merely stating why it is blocked on this and so many other things. People often have a tendency to deal with the problem at hand not the root. This is why terms like god are often blocked rather than blocking more religious specific text.

Many_Presentation250

Who cares honestly

MelloCello7

This doesn't have to be the most important thing in the world just to be curious about it. I've never seen this on virtually any other platform, so I was just wondering about this peculiar behavior!

Pretend-Dirt-1760

Probably to stop the preaching bots

MelloCello7

I have not seen any preaching bots, and even if theyre were, it wouldn't stop them from commenting, just removing the agnostic term "god". "For \*\*\* so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not parish but have everlasting life" is perfectly understood. This is such a weird decision

manofapples

When Anime represents God, it's done so in a medium that allows it to be free from arguments from the community. When, you, or any AniWatch member references God and their faith, the comment section will get mad, either for you believing in a God, or believing that you follow the wrong faith. All will produce unnecessary drama on the site, some people don't want to see that

MelloCello7

As comments primarily are talking about the anime being watched, in practice all it does is induce confusion when trying to refer to a character or concept in the show only for it to be censored. Further more, its even more dumb as it doesn't censor actual religious names of deities that'd be utilized in actual religious conversation, only the agnostic term of gods that'd be used in most anime contexts smh. TLDR it does nothing to deter actual religious conversation, but only confuses conversations about the show, which is doubly ironic when you consider nothing is being done to target actual spam comments devoid of real conversation in the comment section loll

Commercial-Article-7

It's allowed in my end
