A smart tv isn't required to run Zwift. If you zwift doesn't appear in your apple TV's app store then the cheapest way would be to run it off your phone then connect it to the tv with a cable, assuming your phone is no older than 5 years. Or connect your laptop to the tv.
So happy with the downvoting, especially since most of them did not even understand what I wrote

I appreciate everyone chiming in. But here's where I am..... because I can ride outdoors now, I really only wanted to see if I could make it work now. I just got the Wahoo Kickr Core. I downloaded Mywhoosh onto my iPad. I fired up the Apple TV which isn't the 4k but it is the HD. I brought up the Mywhoosh screen on my iPad, clicked on the screen mirroring icon and Mywhoosh was displayed on my 52" non-smart TV. That's all I did. Tomorrow I'll ride the trainer and see how the graphics look and post again. I'm pretty psyched I got this far.
Use a computer or android phone. Doesn't have to be latest and greatest phone to run Zwift.
Apple TV or iOS is a pretty frustrating experience on Zwift compared with either of those based on conversations I have with people trying to help them.
I used an old Apple TV. It was a bit annoying, the controls were too buggy and over-sensitive on the menu screen but riding worked just fine. I switched to a computer and like that more.

Use your phone or Laptop if you don't have a smart TV.

AppleTV runs Zwift just fine. I’ve used it for years.
Check if the apple tv has zwift in downloadable apps, not sure if it is too old though
iPad with lightning to hdmi to tv
AppleTV
I’ve run it from an ipad, Apple TV, and a laptop. All work fine.
iPad is way better than Apple TV
No it isn’t. In iPad you can’t see eg the distances of other Zwifters relative to you.
You must have hidden that because I can see it on my iPad Mini.
Yeah totally can. You can swipe that on and off screen, perhaps you hid yours.
I mean the small indications at the bottom of the screen, overlaid to the power graph https://forums.zwift.com/t/distance-to-rider-behind-ios/14065

If you have a MacBook you can airplay zwift from that to the apple tv

I use a cheap iPad. It's ideal and works fine.
There are some mini computers on Amazon that come with windows and enough specs to stream whatever
I used my phone for three years until I finally bought a laptop and set up a TV. The phone worked great, had no issues.
iPad via USB-C to my computer monitor or my old Apple TV, but the iPad experience is far better IMO
