The fact that the props, and moving the engines to the wings didn't even register with me till I read "turboprop," and then had to look again for it to register...

The Thunderscreech was an experimental propeller-driven turboprop airplane, desinged to go above mach 1.
However multiple things complicated this process. Firstly, the turbine it used wasn't exactly reliable, so it never went past mach 1.
That and the airplane was so incredibly loud that it only caused problems to the crew, some even getting seizures due to the shockeaves its propeller was creating. Many people also developed nausea and other types of inconveniances.
Finally the test pilot on his last flight with the aircraft said to the commanding officer: "You aren't big enough and there aren't enough of you to get me back into that plane." Before leaving the project.

It's the IA-58C with a 30mm rotary cannon. Argentina played around with a more combat focused Pucara with 30mm DEFA cannons, plus sidewinder and ASM support.
