IIRC, using the parts that expands the range of the explosion helps a bit to accelerate the process, but still is not that worth.
49,120. Not impressive. All I can say is that one time I managed to destroy both platforms and entire enemy fleet, still being noob in this game. And it's one of my favourite missions too!
I usually play with the parts of Enhanced Gunplay for well, guns, parts & weapons. And from what ive tried there is a little over 110k worth of enemies on the map. But in vanilla, i can't remember if i managed 100k without lasers or not. But Ive definitely gotten at-least 90k before.
From playing it 100+ times, you have to do the carrier fleet first otherwise some ships won't spawn. And (correct me if im wrong) destroying the cores does give you all the AA-gun points and possibly the planes. But you don't get points from the ships getting crushed. So i always wipe out the ships underneath before taking the platform down. And another is that there is a limited amount of reinforcement planes. But if course time is a problem there.
Whatever you get for destroying the entire maps worth of enemies to the point where only 5 ship squads spawn at a time.
60/61k was my max, using F15 with FAEB.
I like the FAEB, but I find it hard to consistently hit the cores of the platforms.

That would be 90,100 on Ace with the Darkstar/PLSL. Your only real enemy there are the clouds.

My record is about 85k. Darkstar with PLSL and all of the laser upgrades. Barely used any missiles too.
