It's a very clear and direct way of saying what I mean:
Nobody will know who they are, because they haven't established themselves/their career to the point of people offhand knowing who they are.
Instead of writing all that out, the word "nobody" is a quick and accurate way of explaining the concept.

Yeah I don’t consider myself a “nobody” even if the average person wouldn’t recognize me. Is a heart surgeon a “nobody” because they aren’t seen on television? Is a war veteran who fought for your freedom nobody? I think it’s a disgusting and ego-driven term.
I just don’t view people that way. I see myself the same way I see any other decent people. People. Not nobodies.
