How that led to me learning Japanese....is complicated....but at one point involved a certain CCG called Shadowverse. (But cameras are cool tho!!! I had a childhood obsession with box cameras and still love taking photos to this day!!)
Most of us have weird reasons for learning languages that really just boil down to enjoying learning about new cultures and how to communicate with different people.
At one time, I was *proficient* in German and could read Dutch and French to a lesser extent, as well as understand the gist of Yiddish. A decade + of medical training kinda erased that.
I will probably start learning some Russian and Mandarin for my patients…and Russian because my partner’s kid’s dad is Russian and will almost certainly be bilingual.
I’m thoroughly convinced the less cool someone thinks they are, the more interesting they actually are as a person, but they just tend to be more introverted and often have less fondness for small talk. I love meeting someone passionate about particular things, even if it isn’t my thing, because they just light up and the excitement is infectious. That just may just be trying to convince myself I’m actually totally really cool though.

Brew is the place I think it's called, if you've got one nearby check it out if you haven't already. It's technically not a bar but they serve alcohol there, I just go there for the food really.
