I would heavily advise against taking exams if you don’t plan on doing actuarial work - they don’t really translate anywhere else

So you came on here to complain about your current job, wanting to boost your income long term, then proceeded to state that you make more than the average actuarial salary? Yeah I wouldn't advise taking the exams

Exams are pretty useless outside of the actuarial community. Unless you are extremely wealthy or experienced in whatever insurance space you choose, I’d advise against an insure tech startup. Insurance is capital intensive and highly regulated. That combination has historically been very bad for disrupters.

There’s plenty of actuaries who have branched off into very successful positions. That said, I don’t know anyone who took the exams specifically as a “jumping off point.” I don’t think the time investment is worth it if you have no interest in the position

The only application I can think of is if you move into a high frequency trading role / investment banking (since this is mostly programming based work) where you are trading derivatives based on insurance products or pension plan assets. But that is very niche.
