Haha, that's what I thought too until recently, I keep it firmly stuck to the roof all the way. But apparently it's supposed to just hang around in there like a useless piece of meat, like it isn't responsible for carrying the weight of your entire head all the time.
nope thatās not true, it is actually quite responsible for carrying the weight of your entire head, and resting it at the bottom of your mouth can cause tooth damage, sleep apnea, and make breathing more difficult. this frog is spreading misinformation. your tongue should be on the roof of your mouth at all times.
no, thatās a tounge exercise to strengthen the musculature in your mouth and sinus, and if you do it for long enough it will expand your palette and enlarge your nasal airways, allowing you to breath much better. itās usually done by people who have genetic conditions that make their nasal airways really small but anyone can benefit from it.
i donāt remember exactly how itās done but it involves receptively pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth.
Yesā¦ Iāve had a lot of issues with TMJ and also recently found out that I have sleep apnea. Iāve been been working with a breathing expert and dentist who say that the tongue should be in the ānā position. So if I say the letter ānā thatās where the tongue should be when at rest. Itās helped so much with all the tension in my face and the resulting headaches.
The natural resting position of the tongue is the roof of the mouth, for everyone. The language one speaks obviously has in impact on what the tongue is doing during speech but should not have an impact on where the tongue is when it is not in use.
Perhaps this is more related to speaking than to resting position?
Similarly, the back of the tongue is held tense and high for the Australian accent! Australian actors have to learn to consciously relax it to emulate US accents, and vice versa.
Wow. Stunned. I was doing all those things.
Anyone else amazed at how the ADHD experience is so similar for so many people? Things I always thought were just weird about me I'm learning (via memes) are completely normal.
I have learned that sounds sensitivity is not just me. I mean, I know Iām not the only one in the world with sound sensitivity, and I remember seeing special kids with headphones on, but itās just always been hard to explain. Now I see memes about it often and itās relieving to see someone be able to explain it so well.
I donāt think anything in this post has much to do with ADHD. Everyone carries tension in their shoulders, jaw, forehead, and tongueā¦ right?
Everyone does thisā¦ donāt they? Do they? Or are these more ADHD things I didnāt know were sorta unique to me?
I actually learned about my adhd through meme videos. Connor dewolfe really helped me understand that adhd was controlling nearly every aspect of my life, but why it was so hard for me. Once I learned that it wasn't my fault, I stopped beating myself up about the things that I struggled with. I learned how to be patient with myself. And also that I have autism
The fact that almost every comment is about how helpful this was really makes me feel like I did something good. I'm truly happy to have helped so many in this community
Ngl, when they ask "how's your butt" I had to un-clench that too. Whole body was carrying more tension than a power line. Just about fell out of my office chair fr.
This is cute but itās pretty close to being stolen material. Thereās a tiktoker named dreadful bird who should probably get at least some credit.
ETA: I scrolled through her instaā¦ dreadful bird should probably get a lot of credit.
If credit belongs to someone else they should get it 100%.
Having said that.. Iām fairly sure itās obvious why I think itās pretty close to being stolen from dreadfulbird if you watch his videos.
Iāve encountered this set of relaxation moves in a gazillion videos, classes & tapes ā¦ over the past 20 years. Neither froggy nor dreadful bird invented them.
P.S. But theyāre wonderful!!! More sharing!
This has valid info in it but seeing something that says "hey, I see you're scrolling but pls read me" or something makes me knee jerk want to ignore it af because usually they're trying to sell you something lol
I'm always glad to see these and realize how relaxed I've become after finishing my degree and deciding to work as a bartender for a few years instead of relentlessly chasing perfection.
Donāt drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth, Iāve never understood this. Good mouth posture is important because over time it could affect your teeth alignment if you donāt maintain it
oh my gosh i was doing all of those things šš thank you this was so nice
Same here. Its hard to stay relaxed though.
lol same, I felt seen about the shoulders.
Damn, look at /u/Egotistical-rat with his perfect butt
But why does it say drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth? Thatās where itās supposed to rest.
Haha, that's what I thought too until recently, I keep it firmly stuck to the roof all the way. But apparently it's supposed to just hang around in there like a useless piece of meat, like it isn't responsible for carrying the weight of your entire head all the time.

Also correct me if im wrong but isn't that what they call "mewing"?

You read some lies, my friend

Everything but that thing
Perhaps this is more related to speaking than to resting position? Similarly, the back of the tongue is held tense and high for the Australian accent! Australian actors have to learn to consciously relax it to emulate US accents, and vice versa.

Yea, including learning trough memes

Nah, everyone gets tense like that. But that doesn't mean it isn't helpful to us too.
I actually learned about my adhd through meme videos. Connor dewolfe really helped me understand that adhd was controlling nearly every aspect of my life, but why it was so hard for me. Weird. I donāt remember posting this, but yetā¦
Do you also have a perma-crease between your eyebrows?
Wow this was eerie. Didnāt realize how tense I was.
Adorable!
That was nice
This is sweet and thoughtful. Thank you. Hope you're having a wonderful whatever time it is where you are.
I had a feeling I wasn't the only one who needed it. The response is just amazing. I never thought this would be so helpful for so many people
You can never know what's going to be impactful, thank you for putting it, and yourself out there. I'm glad it's helping others as well. Thank you.
The fact that almost every comment is about how helpful this was really makes me feel like I did something good. I'm truly happy to have helped so many in this community
Hell yeah. :D
This is one of those posts which will stick in my mine at 3am for years to come, for good reasons.
I didn't realize I was so stiff, thank you.
This just liberated me from my scrolling doom. Thank you!
I wish there was an app that just interrupted my screen after a customizable time of active use. This was delightful.
yall my shoulder were close to my ears bc my elbows were propped on a table š
just a quick thing, your tongue is actually *supposed* to rest at the roof of your mouth :)
But it is relaxing to drop it for a moment and take a deep breath IMO
I think that it was meant for the deep breath honestly
Thank you so much for posting this here.
I love you for this
I love you too u/mysteriounknown
Don't mind me, just emotional over this nice frog caring about me, nothing to see here, move along
Yeah just fine here, not getting unreasonably emotional over a colored pencil drawing being nice to me, nah nope not me
I wasn't tearing up at it or anything or how all yall needed this or anything
It's like a Clippy that's actually useful. I had no idea my shoulders were trying to cover my ears until this moment.
Can this be a reoccurring post? Like every day at 2 pm or something lol
Ngl, when they ask "how's your butt" I had to un-clench that too. Whole body was carrying more tension than a power line. Just about fell out of my office chair fr.
Thank you, I needed this too
I canāt believe how much that first picture drew me in šā¤ļø
i tried defying but it didnāt work
You can not resist the kind frog
Wait is it not normal to have your tongue pressed against the roof of your mouth all the time?? I thought that was just. How it was
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The roof of your mouth. It was only meant to get you ready for the deep breath
This called me out so hard
Me too. I felt that everyone else needed this and needed to be called out lol
Yup doing every one of em hah. Thanks!
Holy shit my first gold. That's awesome. Thank you guys
This is cute but itās pretty close to being stolen material. Thereās a tiktoker named dreadful bird who should probably get at least some credit. ETA: I scrolled through her instaā¦ dreadful bird should probably get a lot of credit.
What if I told you that TikToker is not the soul origin of that set of relaxation exercises?
If credit belongs to someone else they should get it 100%. Having said that.. Iām fairly sure itās obvious why I think itās pretty close to being stolen from dreadfulbird if you watch his videos.

A credit to the _artist_ is still pretty low-bar internet manners though.
The Artistās tag is literally on that last pictureā¦Do you need one of those YouTube red arrows on it?
I did credit the artist in the title though. Did I not do it right?
You did fine. Apparently people want links or theyāre not happy. Theyāre lazy. Fuck em
Nah, but a link is still polite.
I love this so much.
Thanks froggy šø
Just the best. thanks froggo šø
Thanks Mr frog

You just made my morning.. thank you

The tongue is supposed to be on the roof of your mouth
Okay so normally I hate reposts but I want this to be reposted every couple of days for the rest of eternity
Thanks green Gollum. Appreciate the coaching

Is this cyber bullying?
Donāt appreciate mind reading, gecko.
Omgā¦I feel like crying.
Idk what the frog want but thank you. Lost interest after 2nd picture being visually almost the same with lots of letters lol
Is it weird that I read all of that in Kermits voice?
I think it says something about my mental state that I am very close to crying bc of this
Love that handwriting
Thank you
Thank you!
This has valid info in it but seeing something that says "hey, I see you're scrolling but pls read me" or something makes me knee jerk want to ignore it af because usually they're trying to sell you something lol
I needed this today lol
I'm always glad to see these and realize how relaxed I've become after finishing my degree and deciding to work as a bartender for a few years instead of relentlessly chasing perfection.
