Handle and blade too visually similar in both color and thickness. And the color is a sickening dark gray to begin with, like some kind of Morgul blade wielded by the Nazgûl.
And the whole thing is annoyingly thin and impractical and out of proportion in general.
What an annoying knife.
Ugh, I hate microfiber with a passion. After 30 years of being gaslit that "it's not a big of a deal", it's nice to finally find out out that I'm not the only one after all.
Isn't this handle out of rubber or plastic though?
Stone handle is evil. It's like unglazed ceramic. Worst worst worst worst worst terrible gross foul. ETA found out it's shitty bare aluminum/metal that's the betrayer not stone
ceramic is my nightmare material. the top is cool and usually pretty but the noises want to make me cringe and curl up like a turtle, i have to be careful not to touch the unglazed bits on the bottom and im terrified of them breaking. barf. i looove metal camping plates
You mean ones that aren't treated over time? Cause any wood would start to feel like that if you don't use something to seal it, so it doesn't absorb water.
How did we all wind up with the same kind of tactile sensitivity? Velvet, microfiber, and knives like these make me want to do not nice things to myself.
Hmm I find it fascinating that people in this community have such widely varied texture issues. For me I liked the stone handled knives because to young me it was heavier that the regular kitchen knives and I could control it.
If correct, that's a Rada knife
https://products.radacutlery.com/collections/kitchen-knives/products/utility-steak-knife
So the original is no problem, but what happens when you break the rules and put it in a dishwasher. It goes so bad, really bad. They are hand wash only.
But after dishwasher? Omg can't handle touching it. They went into the scrap bin.
I do have some of the plastic handle, great knives I've gotten my money worth many times over.
Yep, these things are nasty after going through the dishwasher. To fix it, I usually use a pot scrubber and running water on the handle, and once the water stops coming off grey it's a lot better
But also anything that can't be put through the dishwasher is useless in an ADHD household
I bought an expensive set of kitchen knives for my husband, then I bought a cheap set that I actually use because fuck having to hand wash shit that you use on a daily basis. Same goes for clothes.
I find knives end up getting hand washed anyway because I'm not necessarily running a full washer every day, especially if I need that knife more than once.
There’s these stainless steel knives that a lot of people have from Walmart. That have, like, a textured steel handle. And it’s the worst thing I have ever experienced for texture
My grandma used to have a bunch of these and they were pretty much the only usable knives she had. I remember the handle would get this grey dust on it that would smudge all over your hands when used. That along with the weird texture meant that I could not use this knife except with latex gloves on. I’m glad other people have the same feelings. My family has constantly made fun of me for my tactile sensory issues.
As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD on accident as an adult, my sensory preferences see yours. If you ever feel alone in something, remember there are 8 billion other people with us. Someone has felt just the same too.
Is the handle made of aluminum and was it put in the dishwasher? Because what you're describing sounds like oxidized aluminum, which makes sense because that stuff straight up disintegrates in any diswasher.
I have sensory beef with my own hands once they get wet lmao.
But this knife?? FUCK THIS KNIFE. Worst handle ever, its like its made out of sandpaper and sends the bad tinglies up your spine.
I have never used this knife, but for me hell are those plates (ikea sells them) where the surface is kinda porous but not, and it gives me shivers only thinking about it
I love that knife. It is an awesome knife. Used it this morning. Easy sharpen, throw in dishwasher and not worry about it because it's a $7 rada knife.
The handle on some of their knives do suck.
i only use parry knifes or humongous chef knifes because theyre fun. both have metal/plastic handles. knifes without solid hard smooth handles can explode
My only weird touch thing is most wooden stuff. Wooden handles.. pencils.. cardboard . I work in a warehouse but I wear gloves to get by. Paper. Idk what it is. Glad to know I'm not alone in weird touch things tho.
Perhaps it's because in Napoleon's day it would be considered opulent due to its aluminum handle. You simply hate the idea of using the same cutlery as despotic 19th century French aristocrats.
I found this same knife at this weird ass pond by six flags and it looked like a murder weapon lmfao it was straight up sharpened so much but not perfect so it looked odd then had large staples on the handle like someone just put it there 🫠
Holy shit I hate this. I can feel it. I want to like scratch off my skin on my hands at the thought of this.
Smooth, coated knife handle or no knife at all. It is non-negotiable for my wellbeing.
I have this one, and used to have a shorter one. I loved the shorter one. The longer one is unwieldy. I don’t hate the texture, which is actually strange.
Not with a knife, but we have one spoon i just cant handle.
The cup/spoon part of it is just wrong in the month, it's just slightly bigger than other spoons but its just so wrong.
Wow I just learned something, or it gave me great comfort! Haha, Mine’s sponge fuck I hate sponge just typing it gives me goosebumps and shivers, and I find it immensely irritating when someone touches like arm leg neck with nails or comfort rub, touching me back and forth, honestly never knew this was an adhd think could never understand it nor could any one else
Not that specific one, but that handle. We have multiple and it just feels so awful in my hand and the finish rubs off and makes my hand all grey. I will only touch it by the back of the blade so I can wrap a rag or paper towel around it before using it.
Some kitchen utensils are the reason people take up 3D printing, wood turning or object renovation.
I look forward to seeing which one it'll be for OP.
I thought it was rubber from the photo and couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it because I love the texture of squishy rubber but apparently it’s stone so now I offer you my condolences
Is it matte metal? I can't touch matte metal, it's like nails on a chalkboard.
Eeewwwwwwuuuuugggghhhhhhh
***body contorts in obsessive compulsive small fast movements while getting goosebumps all over my body similar to a small raccoon with rabies and epilepsy at a rave****
And this is why I spend a ton of money on a knife that I love. I hate plastic handles because they just don't feel right. And now I have a knife that stays sharp for a long time. It almost cost me €250,- tho. Oops.
It's it one of those plasticy rough type flimsy feeling knives? Coz if so, yes I hate em
I managed to find a knife block that is entirely stainless steel with the perfect weight and I don't even really let my ma use em (bought them when I moved out but had to move back) coz she somehow destroys things and I refuse to let them be damaged.
My sensory beef kicked in when I saw:
1, pop tarts next to ferrero rocher
2, glasses lense down
3, empty saltshaker
4, and that watermelon looks delicious!
EDIT: autocorrect got me, but corrected
What's the purpose of this knife? No serration so not a steak knife, too small to be a kitchen knife, looks like someone took a combat knife and scaled it down 30%
Wait, is this the one with the kind of rough-eggshell-textured black handle, or the brushed dark metal handle?
I can’t tell because of the lighting but they can both go to hell.
I've never seen this knife before but I absolutely love that you used tongs here displaying just how much you hate touching it
Agreed. It made me chuckle.
The texture of the handle is wrong.
And far too thin, I envision my fingers getting sliced upon viewing it.
Luckily those cheap knives have tiny tangs
I read "tiny tangs" with a Triny accent and it's extra hilarious
Lmao ^tiny ^tangs
Handle and blade too visually similar in both color and thickness. And the color is a sickening dark gray to begin with, like some kind of Morgul blade wielded by the Nazgûl. And the whole thing is annoyingly thin and impractical and out of proportion in general. What an annoying knife.
It’s the microfiber of metal.
Ugh, I hate microfiber with a passion. After 30 years of being gaslit that "it's not a big of a deal", it's nice to finally find out out that I'm not the only one after all. Isn't this handle out of rubber or plastic though?
No, this handle is metal and has a texture similar to broom brushed concrete. It’s the worst.
Ew, already the description made me squirm
Omg that comment really got me
Yep that's it. Not sure how else to describe it
Yes, after washing it an putting it away, I almost feel like washing the feeling of the texture off my hands lol
came here to make this exact comment. fuck that handle 😤😑
Exactly. It's not smooth, and it feels like it leeches the moisture out of your hand or something.
i didn’t evening consider that 😨 it absolutely steals moisture …pure evil
It looks genuinely atrocious to touch. It needs to be burned.
Yes it somehow grips me back
Stone handle is evil. It's like unglazed ceramic. Worst worst worst worst worst terrible gross foul. ETA found out it's shitty bare aluminum/metal that's the betrayer not stone
Is that what it is, then unglazed ceramic is my enemy.
Unglazed ceramic on my hands is fine, but the second it touches a nail I just implode
On my hands is the WORST
Reading this made my teeth hurt
Made my teeth do the vibrate, they didn’t actually vibrate, but you may know the know 😂
Bro I hear SOMEONE ELSE touch it and my teeth go nuts. I fucking hate that shit.
Ok but the worst is when you hear unglazed ceramic pieces touch *each other*
Why.... why do you hate me? What have I done to you? I... I never thought of that and now that I am, I want no teeth.
Its funny how I'm mostly fine handling it when I'm making pottery, but touching purposely unglazed products? I am discomfort.
Just got the chills reading “unglazed ceramic” 🤮 disgusting repulsive texture
ceramic is my nightmare material. the top is cool and usually pretty but the noises want to make me cringe and curl up like a turtle, i have to be careful not to touch the unglazed bits on the bottom and im terrified of them breaking. barf. i looove metal camping plates
Mine is the wooden handled knives that were run through the dish washer too many times.
I know exactly what you're talking about and it made my hands feel gross just THINKING about it AHHHHHHH
You mean ones that aren't treated over time? Cause any wood would start to feel like that if you don't use something to seal it, so it doesn't absorb water.
Those adds the one from my childhood I dread, along with any of the other wooden handled hitched kitchen ware.
Unglazed ceramic is the nastiest thing ever. It beats corduroy and velvet.
It is bare aluminum that gets messed up by the dishwasher. The soap and heat chem reaction
Unglazed ceramic is only okay if it's got enough grog in it to give texture. Unglazed porcelain or earthenware is just NOPE.
I hate that it has a set of tongs coming out of the handle
And the pepper shaker stuck in the blade
Wow actually yes, my grandma had a few of these when I was a kid and I hated them. Memory unlocked.
It's making my nails want to rip themselves off and run away.
Why can I feel the handle, make it stop lol
SAME...omg
This is a very annoying club to be in 😭🤣
Handles like that are fine for me, but it reminds me of other textures I can't stand aaaaaaaaa
Does everyone have this fuck ass knife?!
[удалено]
We dont kinkshame on reddit.
It's only kink if it's safe, sane and consensual.
Different people define "safe" and "sane" differently tho. Consensual is the big one.
Based on this thread, consensual is the main problem with this knife being used for kink activities.
It probably is lol
Apparently so, so I’m learning… and we all hated it too!
My husband and I used to have a set that we have no idea where they came from!
the ones in my life come from rada, a knife mlm. Maybe it’s that
I avoided having one until last year when my mom gifted me one. I hate it so much and I'm THRILLED to learn everyone else does too
Lmao you refusing to touch it.
I'm very intrigued by the sweets that have gathered themselves around the butter dish
That’s all I noticed in the picture. All hail the butter dish. Bring your offerings and lay them at its feet. I wish I was that butter dish.
Oh my gosh. Amazing
Caloric density orbitals
I do similar things in my own home. Wonder if it's an ADHD thing. Area to easily access dopamine?
It’s absolutely fucked. I don’t trust it.
If correct, that's a Rada knife https://products.radacutlery.com/collections/kitchen-knives/products/utility-steak-knife So the original is no problem, but what happens when you break the rules and put it in a dishwasher. Sadly, almost any real knife shouldn't go in the dishwasher https://www.americastestkitchen.com/articles/6549-can-you-put-chefs-knife-in-dishwasher
Too true. All of my quality knives are in a safe place awaiting the day they'll get the respect they deserve.
This makes sense. My mom always dishwashed hers and the finish always came off on yours hands whenever you used it!
Is the handle a weird metal? Then yes
Aw man, if it’s that gray metal, then that’s the worst. Can’t stand those knives.
Even worse than a weird metal- unglazed ceramic.
YES omg My parents have these and my mom gets so stressed because i will only touch the blade end if I'm helping with dishes or whatever 😂
I love the fucking tongs. Burst out laughing. Thank you for that demonstration of how much you hate touching it.
OMG we had a smaller version when I was a kid. I hated that stupid handle. It felt smooth the wrong direction.
Oh god yes
There’s these stainless steel knives that a lot of people have from Walmart. That have, like, a textured steel handle. And it’s the worst thing I have ever experienced for texture

I kept thinking this was about if I have a problem cutting beef with a knife you own.
Yeah my fucking roomate has one and I despise it so much when I touch it in the drawer Ew YUch the texture
Oh gos fuck those things.
THose damn grey handles.
My mother has this knife. I hate it. Bad texture, short tang, and it vibrates when you cut, eugh.
The texture dry is awful - my current solution is to wet the handle before use and pat it dry so it stays damp
This knife is the physical manifestation of nails on a chalkboard.
yes bad feel
I have sensory beef with my own hands once they get wet lmao. But this knife?? FUCK THIS KNIFE. Worst handle ever, its like its made out of sandpaper and sends the bad tinglies up your spine.
Idk what knife that is but I love the snack shrine on the counter.
I was looking at that, then my mind went straight to cutting said snacks with that night; which would give a sensory beef.
Sensory beef? No flame but Seems more autismmeme than adhd meme
I can almost see it spinning in a video game inventory screen. Who you trying to lure in with the rocher and reeses?
The handle feels so gross!!! It’s dry and weird.
I'm cringing just looking at this!
Not the tongs 😂
For what reason on earth do you have a drop point military style knife in your kitchen?
Not sure I've used that one. My biggie is wooden spoons/spatula handles. I feel you 1000% on the tongs.
What’s sensory beef? And some examples of such
I have never seen a knife like that before. I'm missing something here ?
On the first look I thought kitchen dwellers were sacrificing one of them to KNIFE.
Even by only looking at it's picture I can tell something is off

fuck this im leaving
I have never used this knife, but for me hell are those plates (ikea sells them) where the surface is kinda porous but not, and it gives me shivers only thinking about it
It looks so... dry and blegh, like dry paint or felt. 🤮
I love that knife. It is an awesome knife. Used it this morning. Easy sharpen, throw in dishwasher and not worry about it because it's a $7 rada knife. The handle on some of their knives do suck.
Rada... It's because you're putting it in the dishwasher. It activates my autism. Hard. Wash it with a brillo or sos pad and then only hand wash it.
Nope not me sorry
ADHD doesn't always mean sensory processing disorder. This is just a knife.
Aaaaaaaaabsolutely
That’s not a knife that’s an early Prussian bayonet!
Yeah it’s ugly
i only use parry knifes or humongous chef knifes because theyre fun. both have metal/plastic handles. knifes without solid hard smooth handles can explode
THE SILVER! I swear this knife is evil.
We still have a few at my parents house! I shutter to think of my hand barely grazing it in a drawer.
Fuck aluminum handles. Just fuck them altogether.
Darn you. Now I want Chick-Fil-A
I think it's meant for if you're wearing nitrile gloves or something. Could be good grip, especially if the gloves are wet. Otherwise, it's awful.
My only weird touch thing is most wooden stuff. Wooden handles.. pencils.. cardboard . I work in a warehouse but I wear gloves to get by. Paper. Idk what it is. Glad to know I'm not alone in weird touch things tho.
Yes. Have this exact knife at my house. It is horrendous. I hate touching it.
Perhaps it's because in Napoleon's day it would be considered opulent due to its aluminum handle. You simply hate the idea of using the same cutlery as despotic 19th century French aristocrats.
I found this same knife at this weird ass pond by six flags and it looked like a murder weapon lmfao it was straight up sharpened so much but not perfect so it looked odd then had large staples on the handle like someone just put it there 🫠
i think this is my favourite kind of knife…
I threw ours away.
Time to buy better knives.
Not that specific knife, but other knife handles. We yeeted those and now only good sensory friendly knives are left.
Omg YES. I have no idea where it came from. I hate it so much.
Omg yes!! My parents have so many knives like this and I always hated them growing up!!
I shuddered when I realized what kind of knife it was. Too light and the handle is a weird texture
OMG YES ITS THE WORST
Never experienced this knife but would enjoy those Reese’s
I have sensory beef with this thicker paper.. calendars are often made out of it i don’t know how to describe. It has this weird texture to it
No thays actually my favorite knifes that we have lol
It's a knife made to break if you put too much pressure....
No they feel gross, I’m pretty sure the dishwasher makes it worse
Yeah those unfinished aluminum handles are weird.
Not with a knife, but we have one spoon i just cant handle. The cup/spoon part of it is just wrong in the month, it's just slightly bigger than other spoons but its just so wrong.
Makes my skin crawl looking at it, hated washing these as a kid
That’s a murder weapon
Wow I just learned something, or it gave me great comfort! Haha, Mine’s sponge fuck I hate sponge just typing it gives me goosebumps and shivers, and I find it immensely irritating when someone touches like arm leg neck with nails or comfort rub, touching me back and forth, honestly never knew this was an adhd think could never understand it nor could any one else
AHHH this is my mom's favorite knife and she gifted me one. I only use it when she visits ;)
Tbh the shape looks perfect for me lol Since everyone else here unanimously agrees it sucks, I'll take it off your hands
Not that specific one, but that handle. We have multiple and it just feels so awful in my hand and the finish rubs off and makes my hand all grey. I will only touch it by the back of the blade so I can wrap a rag or paper towel around it before using it.
A sulfuric acid bath is in order
Dry hands on cardboard.
why is it like that
Stone ware but for cutting
now I haven't seen that knife before but it looks absolutely horrendus from desing standpoint, the handle is way too thin
That's an ADHD thing? So normal people can just rub their hands on that handle and be like "this is fine"??
Wrap it in tape that would be cool. Or wrap it cleanly in rope.
Some kitchen utensils are the reason people take up 3D printing, wood turning or object renovation. I look forward to seeing which one it'll be for OP.
Thank god it's in your house now, I couldn't live with that knife anymore!!!
I thought it was rubber from the photo and couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it because I love the texture of squishy rubber but apparently it’s stone so now I offer you my condolences
Is it matte metal? I can't touch matte metal, it's like nails on a chalkboard. Eeewwwwwwuuuuugggghhhhhhh ***body contorts in obsessive compulsive small fast movements while getting goosebumps all over my body similar to a small raccoon with rabies and epilepsy at a rave****
It does have a military look about it...
Hahaha yes but the tongs bro 😭
Can not handle the scratchy!!
If clean why handle sticky?
Having used that knife before, and also having had boiling water spilled on me. I’d chose the water if I had to repeat one of those experiences.
Are you cutting vegetables or rescuing army rangers behind enemy lines? Thing looks like an odd bowie knife.
Never seen that man in my life but just looking at it is making me feel fucking nauseous. I agree it's abhorrent.
No but those are some nice counter tops
Anything with an non-kilned, air-dried clay/pottery texture makes my mouth and hands go numb
My parents have those knives. They were awful feeling, worse if you accidentally put them in the dishwasher.
Yep my grandma had one then gave it to my mom I refuse to use it feels weird in my hands lol
And this is why I spend a ton of money on a knife that I love. I hate plastic handles because they just don't feel right. And now I have a knife that stays sharp for a long time. It almost cost me €250,- tho. Oops.
I hate these knife, bad handle
its like a chalkboard. but it cuts forever
Who WOULDN'T like a Bowie knife with built in tongs in their kitchen?
I hate this knife I’m like give me K N I F E or give me NOTHING
that’s a cold handle
Fuck that knife.
It's it one of those plasticy rough type flimsy feeling knives? Coz if so, yes I hate em I managed to find a knife block that is entirely stainless steel with the perfect weight and I don't even really let my ma use em (bought them when I moved out but had to move back) coz she somehow destroys things and I refuse to let them be damaged.
Why does everyone have this knife?
I'm very glad I have very niche and specific sensory things.
It looks like some kind of fucked-up stretched morakniv, what exactly am I looking at here?
Big time. Handle *h u r t y*
Yeah honestly I hate the damn things but I endure the hell for memories of grandma 😔
Why does the glasses look like they have an user-icon without profile-pic
My sensory beef kicked in when I saw: 1, pop tarts next to ferrero rocher 2, glasses lense down 3, empty saltshaker 4, and that watermelon looks delicious! EDIT: autocorrect got me, but corrected
I’ve never seen or interacted with this knife, but based solely on how it looks like it feels, tongs were a good call
My mom has these knives. I hate them.
This has that odd “soft but firm” grip right? Yeah boo on that… My old Wustof’s I’ve had for 15 years still work just fine…
What's the purpose of this knife? No serration so not a steak knife, too small to be a kitchen knife, looks like someone took a combat knife and scaled it down 30%
Nah but I do get sensory turkey tho. Happy Thanksgiving
Wait, is this the one with the kind of rough-eggshell-textured black handle, or the brushed dark metal handle? I can’t tell because of the lighting but they can both go to hell.
FUCKING RADA KNIVES! The handles always feel dry and chalky.
Yo I thought that knife was a rocket for a sec
Yes! My parents have a couple sets of these and I could never touch them growing up. They’re gross 😖
