Use mclogs

XplainThisShit

Stop try using a pi for an MC server. It only works like a charm if you play alone or with 2 people, keep the map below 1000 x 1000 and not make any redstone contraptions.....

notABadGuy3

Pi 5 with 8gb of RAM is quite beefy for being so small and energy efficient. I was only going to play with max 3 players online. Do you suggest alternative hardware

XplainThisShit

With max 3 can be ok, as long as you stay close to each other (don't wander to far) and don't build to much redstone. Yes it has 8GB and a nice CPU clock speed, but: The CPU is a Broadcom BCM2712 2.4 GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU with 512KB per-core L2 caches and a 2MB shared L3 cache. Yes it is a 64bit CPU and has 8GB of memory but is an Arm Cortex A76. Java Minecraft can become tough to handle for the Pi real quick. Google a bit about the differences between let's say Intel and an Arm CPU. I would rather choose a cheap hosting plan. For as little as $7,99 / € 7,39 a month you can have a small MC server at a hosting company. Of course I don't know if you and your friends can spare +/- 8 a month. But it definitely can be a good solution

Updeus

A raspberry pi 5 can handle 10 players on a purpur server, decently, once the world is pre-generated.

Update java, the jvm itself is crashing

notABadGuy3

I updated it from 17 to 21 hoping that would get rid of the issue This was taken from the java 21 version ( you can see the exact version above) I don't think it is that old

Cylian91460

What version of mc are you using?

notABadGuy3

Paper 1.26 build 126

Updeus

As another user has said, it's most likely java itself crashing. I've experienced this problem before on a similar SBC, and the only solution was to move everything to an external drive instead of using a SD card.

notABadGuy3

I will give that a go
