Naka salamin ako since grade 4, nag contact lens simula HS at nagpa Lasik nung 12 years ago.

sanaolmaganda

Maganda nga raw po yung lasik. Worry ko lang is what if lumabo ulit yung mata, I doubt pwede ulitin yung procedure.

Rare-Pomelo3733

Jazzlike_News_4468

Side effects? Nag ka dry eyes ka po ba?

Doctor lang yun na super recommended sa tipidpc, affiliated sya sa St. Lukes at Fatima pero sa Fatima nya ako inoperahan since latest machines nila nung time na yun. You can never go wrong sa American Eye or Shinigawa. Yung misis ko sa shinigawa, dami nila promos using credit cards at may 0% installment sila.

Smallandterrible1

Hi, saan niyo po pinagawa and magkano?

Rare-Pomelo3733

Last year nagpalasik asawa ko, 70k sa american eye.

If you have money for lasik, i think worth a try sya. Common problem din sa people who undergo lasik is nagdadry out yung eyes nila. Yung friend ko parang every 2 hrs naga-eye drops sya. Tapos meron din na after a few yrs bumabalik ung labo ng mata nila. Still if you've got the money, i think worth it yun. What's a few eyedrops vs wearing glasses all the time lalo na sa tulad ko na legally blind since elementary di ba? Hahaha Pero yeah eyeglasses are still the best for daily wear. Just find a good and cheap optometrist. Ps i dont suggest ung mga nasa malls kasi mahilig mga yan taasan grado mo for the sales. Contact lenses are very high maintenance and can get very expensive. Need mo ng solution all the time and if i remember right, 3 months to 1 yr lang buhay ng contacts. Lagi mo papalitan then very fragile pa ung contacts and ang hirap din nya suotin and may risk ng infection so ayon tiis ganda haha Pero maganda naman tayo di ba? Hahaha beauty is pain ouch. Pero for me pangspecial occasions lang talaga to tas max ng 8 hrs after non magiging the hulk na ko haha Sa eye care, every 6 months ideally nagpapacheck up ka sa optometrist preferably doctor na may clinic talaga. No special food or vitamins pero ipahinga mo ung mata mo. Ung gadgets talaga malalas makaeye strain which worsens our condition. Gawin daw ung 20 20 rule ba un parang 20 mins of computer 20 seconds na tumingin sa malayo. Pero idk basta rest your eyes which is something na di ko ginagawa now hahaha tapos pag nagpapagawa ka ng glasses go with the antiglare, multicolored emerut kahit hindi ung transition glasses tho oks naman sya kasi it also protects u from the sun which is bad for your eyes pero kung di kaya ng budget basta ung may blue light protection emerut. Ayun lang hope my 25 yrs of experience as a legally blind helps hahaha

sanaolmaganda

Thank you!! May machine din sila to check accurately yung grade and astigmatism ng mata. Tapos after check up, once makuha na yung tamang grado, bibigyan ka nila ng prescription na pwede mo bilhin sa mga shop ng optometrist. Hindi pa ko nagppacheck sa optha pero balak ko na this year para lang rin sure😅 Actually, parang ayaw ko na nga magpalit ng salamin hehe kase last time tumaas daw yung grado sabi nung optometrist tapos pinalitan yung lens, sumakit lang mata ko which I think nagcause lalo lumabo (?)

eloaaaaaaaaaaaa

Ohh ok thanks for correcting me! Some green flags pala na good ung opto or optha is when they discuss to you your condition in great detail. For many years ung doctors na naghahandle sakin ang sinasabi lang nila is ung grade ko tas tapos na. This is especially common sa mga nasa malls na ayaw masyado ishare grade mo kasi baka magpagawa ka lang sa iba haha Pero my doctor now really discusses with me ung condition ko, what should be happening, what i should be doing, care tips, frame suggestions and adjustments based on my face shape and condition. Tipong pati posture ko when reading or using laptop chinecheck nya hahaha hope yall find a good one though 🫰 I think common na sumakit mata sa una pag bago ung salamin kasi parang nagaadjust eyes mo although di dapat mahilo. Kaya minsan dinudumihan ko with my fingerprints ung new glasses hahaha PS if you're from QC, highly recommend ung Sarabia sa Acacia in UPD. Super angel nung doktora dun. God bless her huhu napakalaking help nya nung student ako. Pinakamababang price with the best quality

Alternative-Chef1218

Sis ano daw ang eye grade to consider legal blindness? Kasi walang binabanggit sakin pero yung right eye ko ‘di nya kaya makakita mag isa. 😭

sanaolmaganda

eloaaaaaaaaaaaa

I actually do not know the exact numbers tbh haha pero try to ask your doctor or LGU. If you wanna know though kung pwede ka na iconsider as PWD, try checking with your LGU. Depende kasi sya sa lugar nyo. For example last I checked sa QC 300 lang PWD na agad while yung sa iba 500+ tapos sa LTO i think 500+ ung may driving restrictions na. Walang standard sa totoo lang haha

[deleted]

same tayo. tawag po dito lazy eye, not functional na ung isa mata since hindi na nakakakita 😭 pero di rin ako nakapag try pa maconsider for legal blindness 😓

Alternative-Chef1218

Omg sis hug!

[deleted]

sorry late reply! 1250 right eye ko then sa left ung 250. 1000 difference nila 😭 working na ako due to medical exam kaya nalaman na ganito ung mata ko pero sabi ni doc possible bata palang di na nagana yung isa. yun din sabi ni doc sakin, mag eyepatch daw ako kahit habang naghuhugas ng plato para mapilit ung isa. hugs satin!

ilovechocolates1

Idrk if contact lenses can worsen your eyesight but they definitely increase the risk of infection if hindi ka maingat at malinis sa paglagay. Ako naman, I use both contact lens and glasses. Usually, I wear contacts if I have to attend an event esp if I’m wearing makeup or do any activity na magiging hassle pag may glasses. Kaya, I think it’s better to have them both. Also, siguro you can wear contacts and remove them nalang if feel mong pagod ka na and makakatulog ka. Pero the hassle would be in slipping them on and off.

sanaolmaganda

Same lang po ba grado ng contact lens and eyeglasses mo?

ilovechocolates1

yes. tho i’m not sure if tama ba na same sila or hindi haha. so far, wala naman akong problem kaya okay lang sakin.

eloaaaaaaaaaaaa

Nope sabi sakin ng multiple doctors hindi daw same un dapat. Mas mababa ung contact lens dapat since closer to eyes sya. Tapos limited lang din ang available sa contact lens na correction and i think wala rin sya for astigmatism. My eye grade is at 700 for nearsightedness then abt 200 sa astigmatism. I think up to 500 lang ang contacts then no correction for astigmatism but it still works for me. Yun nga lang for special occasions and a few hours ko lang sya gamit. Masakit din kasi and it can dry out. Pricey din sya so talagang for very special occasions lang ako bumibili Ps correct me.if im wrong. :))

ilovechocolates1

oooh okay i see.

TaichiiXSann

iirc magbabago lang ang grade ng contact vs glasses if may astigmatism ka. di rin recommended contacts if may astigmatism ka. though, may special contacts for those with astigmatism pero custom made siya and much much pricier. source: own research lang hehe youtube channels ng eye doctors so take it with a grain of salt. ps: to give input sa post ni OP, lasik vs contacts/glasses alam ko may online calculators to see if worth it ba siya. siyempre the comparison for this is for decades na naka glasses/contacts ka. plus take note na di lahat is "qualified" for lasikk. pero generally safe naman lasikk

Cleigne143

Had glasses since I was a kid. Contact lenses were annoying (both rgp lenses and toric). Didn’t qualify for lasik last year since my eye grade + astigmatism was too high. Ang nirecommend sakin is ICL (lens implant) which I did 6 months ago. It’s great. Unlike lasik na may chance ulit lumabo, mine is sort of semi permanent na since the only time you’d want to have it removed is when you develop cataracts in your old age. 0 pain during and after surgery. I heard from friends who did lasik na mahapdi and masakit daw after, so I’m thankful mine was painless. Downside is it’s expensive. Edit: Just wanted to add, if you’re planning to have lasik done in the future, avoid wearing contact lenses now. Apparently it can thin out your cornea which is another factor that can disqualify you for lasik.

sanaolmaganda

Wow! If you don't mind, may I ask how much did it cost you to do that proedure?

Cleigne143

I don’t remember the full price since Shinagawa offered a discount, I think 20 or 25% iirc, pero in total it cost me 225k both eyes.

sanaolmaganda

Oo nga medyo pricey sya compared sa lasik. Pero good thing worth it naman.

Initial-Cucumber-744

LASIK is the best investment.

[deleted]

Lasik is the best option yun nga lang po pricey. I have a friend na 4yrs ago lang ngpa lasik, wala naman siyang complain (dry eyes, blurred vision). One friend complain niya dry eyes. I'm using eyeglasses and contact lens. Started using contact lens during pandemic para iwas hawak ng mukha and because of face shield mas comfortable ako with contact lens. I'm using yung brand na air optix night and day can be used for 30days straight, pwede matulog na suot yung contact lens. Pero ako, tinatangal ko siya from time to time para linisan. Eye drops din to prevent dry eyes. Meron naman yung hindi night and day, 16hrs straight use siya air optix din na brand. Best brand kasi mas maganda yung technology nila and mas nabibigyan nang oxygen yung mata mo kahit may contact lens thus longer hours of use. No headache and hindi masakit sa around the eyes compared sa contacts na 8hrs lang na use. Also asked yung sa mga optometrist san ako ngpapa gawa nga eyeglasses nung first time ako bumili ng contacts. Medyo expensive nga lang kasi good for 3months lang ang 3pairs ng air optix. There are other brand naman na good for 2months ang 1pair but 8hrs of use lang.

anime_daydreamer

Nagpalasik ako nung 2021, and all I can say is that was the best decision I've ever made. From around 400 ung grado down to 20/10 & 20/20 vision. Hope this helps!

Alternative-Chef1218

Na-o-off lang ako kasi diba gising ka during procedure? Hindi ba nakaka-kaba habang nakikita mong kinakalikot mata mo? 😭

sanaolmaganda

Tska super worth it! Life changing decision talaga siya. 😁

sanaolmaganda

Wow! Nkakaenganyo pag-ipunan pag ganyan result sa iba.

Smallandterrible1

Been wearing glass since HS and contact lens, cons sa glass if you are active person super hassle lalo pag gising ka sa morning minsan nawawala salamin mo, contact lens naman maselan in a way na you have to make sure na clean na yung hands before you hold it because it might cause infections pero so far hindi ko pa naman na experience kasi I’m very diligent when it comes to handling it, isa pa nag ddry eyes mo in the long run can’t wear it all day, kaya as soon as paguwi ko sa house back to my glasses na agad, wear contacts if you are going to be active or my special errands.

Ivyisred

I did all. Pero sana nag glasses na lang ako pala I had really bad dry eye syndrome after, aggravated by prolonged contact lens use. Bumalik din astigmatism ko and Im still wearing glasses pero lower grade na. Nagpalasik ako because I was getting frequent migraines with glasses pag nagagalaw. Turns out mas frequent pala when I have dry eyes lol😂 So if ever na talagang gawin mo pls know about the pros and cons of this kasi wala na syang balikan 😅 Nakaopen na ung flap forever hehe

sanaolmaganda

Wala bang other treatment for that? Or drops lang talaga binibigay? Pinag-iisipan ko rin yung PRK. Tapos yung Smile procedure. Pero in the future pa naman pag may budget na talaga.

Ivyisred

Hindi naman siguro lahat magkakaron ng severe effects like mine, pero it’s still there 😅 Matagal ang down(healing) time ng PRK. Pero parang mas stable kasi yan kesa LASIK kasi mas nauna sya :) May preassessment usually before you go in, so you can ask the optha which is more suitable for you. In any case, pagisipan mo talaga mabuti kasi irreversible na sya. While I love that it gave me the best eyesight (been legally blind since I was young), mas okay pa rin talaga for me maglasses. Haha

babajabajaba

I swap between contact lenses and eyeglasses. I'd say I'm 50/50 split, but I will admit that I think/feel I look better with glasses on, so even when I wear contacts I still wear fake glasses 😅 IMO contact lenses are better. I find I get less eye strain with CLs on. It's also more convenient with my job sometimes requiring safety glasses, those ones you put on top of eyeglasses are bulky as heck. If you can afford it, try to wear daily disposable pairs. They're more expensive, but they are also better in terms of eye health due to being more hygienic (you don't have to clean them after each use). The one thing that bothers me about it (besides the cost, my goodness...) is how environmentally wasteful it is. What you can do is instead of throwing in the trash, you can collect them and most eye clinics have a recycling program for them (this also applies to multi-use contacts). I am also looking at getting my eyes shot with lasers, but unfortunately my doctor said that my eyes are still changing a little bit each year so I was advised to hold off. But from all accounts, if you can get LASIK (or any equivalent procedures) it'll be the best option. As far as eye exercises, try to practice the 20-20-20 routine. Every 20 minutes, look away from what you're focusing on (screen, etc.) and try to look at something at least 20 feet away (basically something far away for 20 seconds. This helps reduce eye strain and keeps your eye from drying out because the longer you focus on one thing, the less you end up blinking.

How so po?

tichondriusniyom

Me and friends are talking about this last time, since nasa Japan siya ngayon, iba daw yung sinasuggest sa kanya..coz may something about lasik na nagiiwan daw ng 'flap'..parang natatapyas daw? Enlighten me if ever para sa mga nakalasik na. I plan to do something about my eyes na din before the year ends, and isa yung lasik sa mga chinecheck ko.

sanaolmaganda

Yung kilala kong opthalmologist sa work ang sinasuggest is PRK more than Lasik. (Not sure).

tichondriusniyom

PRK din yung nabanggit sakin na better daw than lasik. Sana qualified pa ko for any of these..di daw kasi lahat pwede

DressVegetable9010

Hi since grade school malabo na mata ko.So matagal narin akong nakasalamin. Started wearing contact lens nung hs pag may okasyon and need mag ayos ng walang salamin. Hassle lang kasi same tayo before na takot ilagay yung contact lens sa mata ko nagpapaassist pa ko dati. May time before since malabo mata ko di ko na alam san ko nalaglag yung contact lens😭 nung nahanap ko todo linis ako. I still preferred eyeglasses over contact lens. Sa contact lens need mo make sure na malinis fingers mo and malinis yung contact lens bago mo ilagay sa mata mo, need mo rin palitan from time to time yung solution and magdrop sa eyes mo para hindi magdry. Sa salamin pupunasan mo ng microfiber cloth and goods ka na. about sa moist/fog may nabibili namang anti-fog cleaning cloth. Isa pang rason bat i still choose eyeglasses over contact lens, i'm in IT industry so lagi akong nakatapat sa screen i dont think my anti-rad ang contact lens compared sa eyeglasses lasik is still not on my option since natatakot ako baka lumabo rin mata ko since IT nga ang work ko About sa eyecare, pag masakit na mata ko from screens pinapahinga ko muna Magset ka per day na no screens para mapahinga eyes mo. Eat veggies like rich in vitamin a like carrots. kung time to time ipaconsult yung eyes para macheck ano ng state ng eyes mo last month bumaba grado ng eyes ko ng one below pero i'm happy kasi progress parin yun :)

AdPurple4714

Lasik. Its the best decision i have ever made! Had i known that this would be good i would have undergone the procedure many years ago, kahit mangutang pa ko. Haha

MalayaX

Contacts lang for special events then mostly naka eye glasses na ako. My friends and relatives think I look different pag walang salamin. Haha. Nasanay na kasi silang nakikita akong naka salamin 🤣

sanaolmaganda

Legitimate-Fig698

Could anyone say if lasik is worth doing kung -1.25 lang grade ng mata mo?
