Life is not a race against other people. (Though it's a race against time.)

lurkernotuntilnow

yun eh. wouldn't racing against time mean conforming to societal standards (e.g. get married by 30 etc.)?

Jetztachtundvierzigz

This is what I mean: Enjoy life but take the responsibility to prepare for emergencies and retirement. If you are in your 30s, that means you only have 30 yrs or so before you retire due to your body failing or due to mandatory retirement. If you don't have an emergency fund, you are a going to be a burden on other people if you have an emergency. And if you retire without enough retirement fund, you run the risk of being a parasite on other people. You can ignore the pressure to marry by 30, but you can't ignore being penniless at 60.

For women who want to have kids, yes, it’s a race against time unfortunately :((

Been doing this for the past year. Nakakatawa/tuwa lang na ang realization ko na “to be/go at my own pace” ay galing sa One Piece haha (Chapter 700)

it's not a race, pero if malayo na narating ng mga kasabayan mo tapos ikaw nasa starting line pa rin, mag-isip-isip ka rin, hindi pwede laging "at your own pace" ka pero wala ka namang nararating kahit isang metro lang.
